United States | 10 September 2019I ended up having to do a reshoot as the focus of the project was not properly instructed by DroneBase to me before I went out for the first shoot. In the future, I hope clearer instructions are provided.

United States | 09 September 2019We hired DroneBase to photograph and take video from a redevelopment site. As such, we did not want the existing building in any of the deliverables; we wanted the drone to fly at a specific height of 85 feet and take photos and footage looking away from the property, to show the views from a potential future rooftop deck. These instructions were provided in our original request. After being delayed for "hardware issues," our first batch of photographs and video was exactly what we did not want: pictures of the building on the site. We rescheduled, and to their credit, DroneBase did not argue with us, and in fact gave us a discount for having to re-shoot. We were later confirmed with a new flight time, only to be delayed because they couldn't get FAA approval to fly above 100 feet at that time. Not sure why they confirmed with us without having confirmation from the FAA first. Also don't know why they thought they needed to fly that high. We only wanted shots from 85 feet up. The second round of photos was, amazingly, the same as the first - all pictures of the buildings, and not what we needed. On the third time around, I asked for them to have the pilot call me directly when they were on site, so I could explain to them what we wanted, since the pilot on the prior two attempts either had not received or had not read our instructions. The third time they finally got it right, and they did not charge us at all. This all took a period of about 2 weeks, rather than 3-5 days. The final product looks great, but the experience was very disappointing and frustrating.

United States | 09 September 2019Not a fan, the photos look like roof inspection reports and not like professional shots showing the land, and potential view.

United States | 09 September 2019The "missions" are extremely low paid. Sometimes hundreds of photos needed and several batteries of flying for $75. Hardly worth the gas money getting to the site sometimes. Used to be some better paid job opportunities but that time has gone. The don't treat the "pilots" with any professionalism whatsoever. Their communication is infantile as if talking to a Kindergartner: they make you respond to emails with certain keywords. It's so embarrassing. I can't imagine professionals in any other environment getting talked to like that. After confirming a job, there are often times a handful of emails that warrant an immediate reply. And if you don't respond with their magic keyword, they threaten to give the job to someone else. I feel like most of the time the staff at Dronebase forgets they are talking to human beings. It's very robotic and impersonal. They'll never ask for your opinion or feedback on anything. Definitely like driving for Uber. You are nothing to the company. Just a nameless, faceless minion doing cheap work so they can make a buck off of your hard work. On the positive side, they do pay out in a timely fashion when the mission is complete.

United States | 06 September 2019Super easy. My only comment would be that it gets confusing not having direct communication with pilot. There has been several times the instructions have not been followed due to lack of communication.

United States | 04 September 2019There’s basically no real work on the platform and no clear way to prove oneself or build one’s portfolio. Oh, and the work is super cheap.

United States | 02 September 2019I've been flying for DroneBase for a couple of years now. It seems volume work comes and goes, but that's to be expected of any job aggregation company. I've flown about a hundred missions for these guys, and earnings are into 5 figures across those hundred missions. Not exactly worth writing home about, but as a schedule-filler, not bad either. I think many of the negative ratings, and online tirades, stem from a misunderstanding of what DroneBase is, and what they do. If a drone operator is depending on DroneBase to fill their schedule with client jobs, they need to throw out their business plan and start over... or quit while they're ahead. My schedule typically stays pretty well stacked, but there are periods (summer in Arizona) where there just isn't much work. DroneBase missions help fill in the gap. Look, nobody's going to get rich and famous flying for DroneBase. That said, some of the client missions I've seen are ridiculously under-priced. This is going to happen. Too low? Don't take it. Someone else will, more than likely. If not, I've seen DroneBase push the job back out to pilots with a payout increase. You accept what makes dollars and sense. I phrase it like that, because I see people complaining online all the time about how DroneBase is "one of those companies fueling the race to the bottom". If the job is many miles away, and pays $50, that may not make much sense for the dollars to you. The guy who lives at the end of the block where the job is, and can fly it from his back yard. $50. 15 minutes. Easy $$. Another example is the gear you're using for the mission. Say the requirement is for an x7 camera and the price of the job is a couple or few hundred bucks. Considering the camera is a ~ $2500 piece of kit, plus the bird you're flying it with, it's a no-brainer and an automatic decline for me. The risk:reward ratio has to make sense. That example wouldn't. Your perception of risk:reward might very well differ from mine... That's your prerogative. Like I said... someone else will, more than likely. Of course, I've been wrong before at least once. YMMV.

United States | 30 August 2019Took a while to complete training and become familiar with what exactly Dronebase needed. No cell coverage when arriving at site. Made it hard to know if my shots were exactly at desired POI. (couldn't load map indicating where POI was. Also, aerial imagery was a little outdated and couldn't identify POI based on land features. No support from Dronebase either since no cell coverage. Took a while to know if I had captured the right shots and if they would pay me. In the end they did pay me and everything went well. Total of about 5-6 hours work for $90.

United States | 27 August 2019DroneBase has been a great resource for us to capture aerial video footage and still images of various real estate that we have financed and subsequently offer to accredited investors to purchase fractional shares of the loans we provide. It's an easy and great way for us to allow potential investors to see both the actual property and the neighborhood. The turn-around time is always fairly quick and the only issue we've had is accurately directing their pilot to shoot an empty lot where the address was not clearly marking the property.

United States | 27 August 2019I enjoy the opportunities that have been given to me to fly my drone and gain experience with different types of photographic missions. My learning curve has been quick and rewarding. I live in a rural area, so my weekly tasking is low. I would like to see 3 to 4 missions per week. The only downside is that most of these missions require the launching of the drone from points inside the tract of land and that requires hauling an ATV to the site. This is not figured into the payment. I have brought this up before, but it has mot reached any powers-to-be. Example: A 120 mile round trip to a site. Unload the ATV and go to 3 different points to launch and shoot the panoramas, check the pictures, re-shoot if necessary, load the ATV and return to the office. This takes a whole day, 6 hours. And that's not counting the sorting and uploading time back at the office. For $90-$100. Glad I'm not doing this for a living! The last point I want to make is that some of the people that answer and send out the emails from DroneBase "pilots proper" need to realize that they are talking to adults. They need to "read what is sent and check the facts" before they fire back a response that is curt and insulting. There job is to help the pilots in the field, not be curt, or promise to get back with a response and never hear a word again until asked for a response days later. And if I get the message on my Dashboard that says the missions is complete and to wait for the payment, it is not really my job to ask it the pictures got received, until maybe a day later. But don't send me an email saying I'm late and have 3 hours to upload the mission when the problem hasn't been checked fully at the DroneBase office!

United States | 25 August 2019I have been on DroneBase since March 2019 and I have only received 1 job. It was easy once you get one, but I live in a huge target market and to only get one job in six months is a little disconcerting.

United States | 22 August 2019Very structured instructions that guided me through the training mission to my first Client Mission. It made my first Client Mission easy. I received payment the same day I uploaded my photos from my mission. You definitely want to fly/practice all of the required shots that could possibly be asked for in a mission. Review all required shots prior to showing up to the mission. It makes the mission easier and faster to get what you need. Thanks Marty A.
