United States | 19 August 2019Yes I would recommend DroneBase but with some reservations. 1. The missions offered are much less than years past. 2. The payouts are less than they were in years past. 3. The payouts are slow going thru a company that seems to hold back and offering to pay us now with a small cost. 4. It seems as though the missions are not properly reviewed by a qualified 107 pilot because problems are some times found at the site of the mission which causes problems that should have been seen and dealt with prior to sending out the mission. Yet it is a good place for a 107 pilot to learn to fly and earn as long as he/she understand that missions are not often and don't pay that much.

United States | 18 August 2019Good pay, but the jobs are too infrequent to make a real job out of.

United States | 17 August 2019App works well with a responsive team behind it.

United States | 17 August 2019DroneBase has terrible vetting and frequently encourages pilots to do dangerous things, and has no interest in developing a professional base of pilots. For example, I was flying a mission for one of DroneBase's clients. I checked in on site on the DroneBase app. The client had apparently hired another pilot to perform the exact same mission. The other pilot took off while I was directly over the building without my knowledge and nearly hit my drone. When I notified DroneBase (via email, they do not provide a phone contact), they responded to land and wait (I of course had already done this). I told DroneBase I would approach the pilot to coordinate. DroneBase responded firmly to never approach or communicate with another pilot. This is simply dangerous instructions. I fly manned aviation, imagine if I refused to communicate my intentions on the radio! How fast would I lose my license?! I have seen multiple other shady and unscrupulous directions by DroneBase myself, and posted by others on FaceBook industry groups, often showing DroneBase using a kind of "be discreet" message to pilots, as if they are hiding what we are doing. If DB would spend more energy developing relationships with reputable pilots within geographic areas, and paying a little more for the reliability, safety, educating their clients, and professionalism it would go a long way. Instead, they treat pilots as sort of uber or lowest / quickest bidder and do not price in safety to their clients. For my day to day career, I run the geospatial services and a very large UAV program for a large company. We use every sensor out there, many types of airframes , mission types, and many types of software. We have a robust SMS (Safety Management System) that exceeds ICAO and FAA recommendations (which I helped write). I also own an LLC that specializes in GNSS and drone/GIS training, hosting workshops across the country. I fly a Cessna 172 often as well, so I have the manned aviation perspective too. Safety is ALWAYS the first objective of every mission in everything I do, or my crews do. Greedy market practices lead to unsafe conditions. Give it time, I hope I am wrong, but a DroneBase pilot, customer, or public is going to get hurt. Worse, the pilot will likely have no idea what to do, or how to coordinate with DroneBase in the event of an accident. Just my opinion from 20 years GIS field experience, the past 10 years in leadership experience. DroneBase business model is simply dangerous. The business model is not placing the correct ‘value’ on safety. If they did place the correct monetary value on safety, it will change their ROI / CBA for sure, but it doesn’t preclude profitability. DroneBase can choose to be a race to the bottom, or stand out with quality and a robust publicity around its safety procedures and record - and use that as a marketing tool. DroneBase should take the time to educate customers of the importance of quality pilots, quality safety. They need to educate their clients of the value-proposition of safety. At the moment, they do not do this. They have a business model that seeks to undercut and is short sighted.

United States | 14 August 2019DroneBase has been a good way to make side income. The company really does a great job at communicating with the pilot and client. I have never had to redo a shoot & there have been times where some shots were just not possible due to weather or obstructions. I just wish the FAA would do their job and enforce fines on non-certified pilots so DroneBase would get more clients.

United States | 11 August 2019It’s great in the way of extra work. And you don’t have to do any editing. The down side is, the work is very inconsistent, hard to manage the weather in a 3 day time period. Although you can reschedule if needed. If you have to do reshoots, with the smaller profits it’s easy to go into the negative side.

United States | 10 August 2019Dronebase is great when the missions are nearby. Most of the time it’s not worth a far drive, but it’s totally worth it if you can knock it out quickly. The instructions are always clearly stated and a map of the subject property is always highlighted to avoid any confusion. They are flexible and If you ever have an issue they are quick to respond.

United States | 10 August 2019Not very good at finding missions near me. My friends got missions before me and nothing showed up.
