United Kingdom | 23 January 2025I was approached by the British Gas team on Bedford High Street. It didn't take too long take long to compare my current rates with the new British Gas plan and there was a very good saving. The agent who I spoke to (Matthew Howard) was friendly, as was the rest of the team and they all seemed quite upbeat and positive. I rarely stop for on-the-street promotions but Matt was engaging and it made sense to see what I could save as this was something I was meaning to do. Matt was persuasive without being pushy. The set up looked very official so it made me feel more comfortable. Seemed like this was a good deal, even before I was reminded about half price Sundays and the chance to get £10, £20 or £250 off my bill in a spin to win style competition (I got £10 but it's better than nothing!). It was good that the contract is only for 1 year and that if the price goes down, my bill will too. They were upfront about the exit fees and did not push me in to signing up for marketing emails etc. In fairness, I didn't ask about this and should've done but the only thing is that it would have been good to have more information about the green credentials of the plan and whether there were any greener alternatives.
