United Kingdom | 14 August 2017Placed an order online (2/8) for a £670 ladder with 3-5 day delivery. First warning sign, they emailed me the next day to ask for an additional £6 delivery fee for a large item. This is disclosed on the website & in the delivery policy, but seems very amateur that they can't get their website to apply the appropriate delivery charge when you order. I then had to email customer service to ask for them to charge me the £6 via paypal, Then I had to send another payment via paypal after emailing customer service again to get them to resend the paypal request to the correct paypal email account, i.e. the one I used to place the original order on. Waited 7 days for the ladder to arrive with no further communication, sent an email to ask customer services (10/8) when it might arrive was told it was out for delivery today. Emailed to let them know it did not turn up. Received an email on (11/8) to be told in fact there was an error on the system and the ladder would not be in stock until 6/9. Emailed back on 11/8 to express dissatisfaction and request refund. As yet (14/8) no further communication and refund not yet paid back.... UPDATE 04/09: Went away on holiday and returned to find to refund had still not been paid back. Emailed customer services to ask them to check what had happened to my refund originally promised within 24-48 hours (on 14/8). Refund was then paid to me within the hour, only 14 days late!

United Kingdom | 14 August 2017I normally review Tool-net.co.uk after my order arrives, but in this case feel its appropriate to review it before it arrives. My previous order to the order i am review now was shipped 2 weeks or longer after i placed my order and till to date one of the items still has not been dispatched and that now must be over 5 weeks age. My last order which is the one i'm reviewing has still not been dispatched and its been 9 days since i placed my order. As i mention in my last review i do not think tool net hold stock of all the items they sell, as most of the orders i have placed have always been delayed for items not being in stock, but still usually dispatched in a respectable time. But now tool-net has taken things to another level. Whats the point of tools arriving after your job has finished and due to the delay the time lost sourcing items locally last minute. Even on their website every listing say all items are instock unless other wise sated and tool-nets respond to my last review was email us prior to buying to see if items are in stock??? whats the point in having a website then??? Very very disappointed

I did, the item I ordered was discontinued they were quick to email me offering me an alternative at the same price. So yes would recommend to anyone requiring tools, workwear etc Kevin Hall

United Kingdom | 03 August 2017I ordered and payed £488.27 for a Dewalt Framing nail gun fully expecting the item to be delivered in due course. A week later I received an email requesting an additional £117.40, claiming that the advertised price was incorrect. After declining to pay the extra, i was told I would receive my refund in 24-48 hrs. I still have not received the refund and have had to go through Paypals dispute resolution to try to get my money back. It seems from other reviews this is a common practice from Tool-Net, take your money, do not sent the goods, ask for more money, hang on to the refund for as long as possible. They must be making a tidy profit in interest off other peoples money that should be going to repay the refunds. Very poor service, would not recommend using this company but, if you do use them, pay via Paypal, at least you have a third party to help recover your money if things do go wrong Dear tool-net. in response to your reply, you can not just make dates up to show yourselves in a favourable light. The request for a refund was made on the 31st July, it was made at 21.51 hrs on the 3rd August, that is not within 48 hrs, It also appears that the refund was only made upon the intervention of Paypal.

Had to amend one item due to stock availability, but Customer Service gave a choice of alternatives and replacement was sent separately to avoid delaying whole order. Happy to recommend.

United Kingdom | 30 July 2017I ordered a Clarke bike lift online and paid by Paypal, only to be sent an email asking for an extra £10 postage and declining a discount voucher that I was genuinely entitled to use. I then cancelled the order as the £33.00 increase in their asking price was just too much and became uncompetitive. I was promised a refund of the £100+ I had already paid within 24-48 hours....5 days later and I'm still waiting :( Will now have to escalate this with Paypal. It is unfortunate to see that there are many reviewers out there that have experienced exactly the same - increased costs and a reluctance to refund once an order is cancelled. I wish I had seen those review before I placed the order! BEWARE if you are considering buying from tool-net! UPDATE! Following tool-net's reply below I must clear a few points in response....1. The extent of the 'notes' they stated were not the notes I received by email. 2. I have previously reviewed a purchase from them on another website and was entitled to the discount. 3. The money has not yet been refunded! I have no wish to get involved in any further debate with this company, there are many better companies out there to do business with and I am not willing to waste any more of my time on this. However, readers ought to know that what tool-net say is not always accurate!

When item arrived all was as expected. Would buy from again dependant on price.

United Kingdom | 21 June 2017Ordered and paid online, next day they ask for more money for shipping, making their price uncompetitive. They agreed to wave the additional charges or I was cancelling the order. They used TNT to ship who (apparently) attempted delivery but never left any cards so I had no idea, and the item was returned to them. I then get a message to say “£13.50 + VAT charge for the consignment being returned by the courier to the sender and if you wish for the order to be re-sent, you will need to make payment for the delivery charge of £6.99 + VAT” I had had enough and now wanted a refund but said they could not refund until PayPal dispute was closed (a two week wait) – I called PayPal who told me this was simply not true, so it seems Tool-Net are just being awkward & petty. I would spend a few more pounds and save a lot of inconvenience by shopping with a proper, reputable retailer, not one run out of someone’s house. No customer service phone number tells you all you need to know about this outfit. Interestingly the long reply below ignores and does not address the actual problems (experienced by others) of the shipping charge extras, the lack of customer service phone number, and that they use a useless courier. If these issues didn't exist there would be no PayPal dispute. This in itself says quite a lot about who you are dealing with.
