It was easy to book through this site. I would recommend it to people wanting to visit Edinburgh.

I'm looking forward to my stay. My only criticism is that their online system can be a little confusing when searching and booking.

United Kingdom | 19 January 2018We booked a flat through Edlets for New Year for 4 people. After a booking is made, Edlets then say that any further arrangements between the Host and Guest are nothing to do with them. We then contacted the Host, to ask if it would be OK for a 5th person to stay in the flat and if bedding/towels could be provided for them if so? The Host replied saying that everything was all set for us. However, when we arrived at the flat, not only was it absolutely filthy (pubic hair all over the beds, bathroom, kitchen / mould in the bathroom / balls of hair and dust and nail clippings all over the floor / all the cutlery and plates and pots and pans in the flat were covered in old food) but there was no WiFi and all the bedding was missing from one of the beds (pillow and duvets included). When we called the Host, we were told that they could not do anything about it as they were away for the weekend and that we should call Edlets! The Host even denied receiving our message - even though she had responded to it. When we called Edlets, the man who answered the phone was very belligerent and defensive, and he told us it was nothing to do with them! He said that we shouldn’t have expected the Host to read the message even if she had replied to us. Then, he told us that in order to complain we had to do so within 24 hours and that if the flat was dirty then Edlets would do something about it. Eventually, after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing the Host offered us (through Edlets – again, the man was incredibly belligerent) to send someone with the bedding at the cost of £112.50 or that we should buy our own. At this point, the host had admitted to not reading our message “properly” to the man at Edlets. We pointed out to Edlets that originally, the host had said she hadn’t even read our message (even though she had replied to it) and that she could do absolutely nothing - but later, she demanded £112.50 and said she had read “some” of the message. Since it was cheaper to buy our own bedding we did so. In line with what we had been told on the phone, we submitted a clear formal complaint to Edlets about the bedding, the rude treatment by their staff, and the filthy state of the flat (with a lot of photographic evidence). We asked that the bedding be refunded as we should not have had to buy it as the service we had paid for, a clean self catering flat with linen and towels provided for 5 people (as per our arrangement with the host), had not been fulfilled. This service had been contracted through the Edlets platform, with a Host Edlets had endorsed as reputable and providing quality accommodation. Sadly, even after we complained Edlets refused to reply to our formal complaint or move us, we had to clean the flat ourselves (it was disgusting) and because it was New Years nowhere else was available at a reasonable price. It took 2 weeks to get any response from Edlets and they did not even bother to respond to our actual complaints - they just said that they would not give us any money and to check their T&Cs. They have also repeatedly said that we should just be happy with what we got because of the price, which is ridiculous! We were expecting bedding, towels and clean accommodation as we paid for! They claim they do nothing but provide listings and have nothing to do with the flats – yet they take a huge cut of the booking price! Do not waste your money. They are rude, they are aggressive, they provide rubbish and filthy accommodation, and will ALWAYS side with the Host (despite claiming to be impartial)! After doing our research we have found out they do this all the time – and have written their T&Cs in order to get away with anything they want! So, do yourself and favour and save some money and AVOID when looking for a holiday let in Edinburgh – don’t let your experience of the beautiful city be destroyed by Edlets! Since we posted this review, they have tried to report it (and failed), criticised us for leaving an honest review of our experiences and asked us to take it down if they could give us "some" money, and when that didn't work they've responded now. They have not responded to any of the other 1 star reviews on TrustPilot to date. We have also at no point threatened further action against edlets for not giving us a refund. Make of all that behaviour what you will - but I would recommend not taking any chances and going for a more customer friendly company if you are looking to rent clean, reliable self catering accommodation in Edinburgh.
