I would say, if you need to service your battery and that’s it and your worried about spiralling costs, your best bet is to get it serviced by a 3rd party provider. The fact that I only wanted my Battery serviced or replaced and due to apples policy that they must repair everything that they can, my phone was fully functioning but apparently they saw a little bit of water damage - even when I said if there’s any potential water damage do not touch the phone, I don’t want the repair to go through. I ended up having my Touch ID no longer being functional, my battery not being serviced so it’s still in the same condition and Apple Pay no longer in use at all. All because I went to a Apple certified repair shop to fix a simple battery. Instead of coming back with a fixed phone, I’m using a phone that’s worse off.

Was quoted £950 to repair MacBook Pro 15” mid 2015 model 3 weeks after it was lost in the shop.I had told them that it was a battery issue, so took my device to apple Brent Cross for a second opinion.I was told at apple that worst case scenario it will cost £750 pound to do the same repair(new logic board and new battery)after diagnostic’s I picked up my MacBook and it cost me £199 for a new battery, that was all that was wrong.. beware of scams

So. I spilled soda on my macbook pro. After leaving it to dry for a couple of days I could start it, but it was working extremely slow and if I unplugged the power the computer died. I booked an appointment at Apples website at MR in Islington. They took my computer to the back, opened it up quickly and came back with the news that the computer was completely destroyed. I needed to change the entire logic board, battery, track pad and keyboard and got quoted for almost £1100 to "return it to normal functionality", and was told it was not worth fixing, and that i should just continue using it as it is until it dies and buy a new one. Little did i know that when they had opened the computer up, it was absolutely FULL of dust (I've had it for a few years, and haven't had the right screw driver to open it up and clean it out) and instead of telling me, or at least just go in with a tweezer and clear the heatsink (which would have taken 30 seconds) they just closed it up and told me to continue using it as is (clogged with dust). After a while i decided to try to fix it myself. I have never opened anything up in my life before but i thought it was worth having a go to clean the insides of the computer and change the damaged battery. As i was opening the computer up I was shocked to see all the dust that was in there. The back of the fan was absolutely clogged with one massive bit of compressed dust. Now I don't suggest that they are responsible to keep the inside of my computer clean. But they are a repair centre, that had opened my macbook up to diagnose it. Completely ignored the fact that there was clearly a dust issue, closed it back up dirty and not even mentioned the dust issue to me. Again, I don't expect them to clean my computer out for me, but you would expect at least to be told when they'd just had it open for diagnosis. They just gave me the computer back and told me to use it as is in it's impaired state (bad advice!!), that it would be impossible to restore it to normal functionality without changing all the parts quoted and that all i could do was to just wait for it to die. So, I bought a battery for £99 and a tool kit for £30. Following an online guide, I took my computer completely apart, properly cleaned every bit as i put it back in, put a new battery in, cleaned the logic board carefully with alcohol, cleared all the dust out, put it all back together again and low and behold the computer is working like it's new. I've taken it to another non Apple affiliated macbook repair shop, just so someone can have a closer look at the logic board i was told was completely beyond rescue and completely ruined, just to find out it is absolutely fine. It just needed a clean. No water damage, no sugar damage. So here I am, having been quoted almost £1100 to fix my computer, been advised to keep using it in it's dirty state until it breaks and buy a new one, when all i had to do was to spend £130 on a battery and tools, and a day cleaning it. Had I followed MRs advise and just kept using it in its sugary and dusty state it would have for sure broken down in a near future. But here I am, on a completely functioning macbook with a completely functioning logic board still going.

I sent my flexgate issue on macbook to get fixed, i was told repair was going to be free and so i sent in my laptop. And then they sent me an invoice for £700 pounds, i told them i no longer wanted to fix the screen but they said in order to release my laptop id have to pay £90. I figured since i was going to have to pay almost 1/7th of the fixing price i might as well just get it done. Paid £700 for the repair. Mind you my laptop was in perfect condition other than the screen before i sent it in. I was using it with a second monitor and it was working fine. After i got my laptop back after they supposedly replaced the screen, it keeps crashing. Something that would never happen before. Now it keeps crashing whenever im on zoom or try to export a video on premiere pro. They claim that it was coincidental but I never had these issues till i sent them my laptop to get “fixed”. Please save your money. And send it to either apple directly or at this point a third party service will probably be way cheaper and more reliable. Please go anywhere else but here.
