My wife and I are recently back from our 3 days in Barbados, followed by a Caribbean islands cruise with Silversea on Silver Moon. I should add that the cruise itself was excellent. Regretably our experience of ROL was a disaster, right from the very outset at the time of booking. The offer, as advertised, included free chauffeur travel up to 100 miles to/from the airport (Heathrow in this case). When confirming all the details over the phone the lady at ROL told me that as our suite on board was not one of the more expensive ones, we were only entitled to free travel up to 50 miles! I disagreed. Their wording was very clear and specific. I had to speak to 3 other people before I was grudgingly informed that on this occasion, as a special gesture, they would pay for up to 100 miles. I was not impressed, especially as when I received the booking confirmation, the 50 mile figure was still there. So I had to phone again. They said the 50 was a misprint, we would get free travel up to 100 miles each way, and no need to worry. I insisted I wanted the correct figure shown in writing on my documentation. Which I got, eventually. All went well after that, until the actual day we were setting off. Having received confirmation by text message from the taxi firm confirming the driver details and the pick up time of 8.30am, we waited, and waited, and waited! No taxi arrived. I phoned the driver's mobile phone several times but he didn't pick up. I left voicemail messages but no return call came. At 9.10 I phoned ROL. They knew nothing and couldn't help! We were so fortunate that we managed to find a local taxi service which could help us at such short notice, and so lucky there was no traffic congestion on the M4. We got to Heathrow just in time for our flight to Barbados, but that was one of the most stressful experiences for both of us. The explanation I eventually got was that the driver scheduled to collect us had an issue with his car. A second driver was arranged but he had a puncture on his way to us. A third driver said he could do the job, then realised he couldn't as he already had a booking that day. In the meantime of course we were told absolutely nothing! I understand the firm ROL use for their airport taxi service are based in Berlin! Probably not a great plan! Although ROL agreed to reimburse the taxi fare we had to pay, they flatly refused to recognise the level of stress we went through that morning! Whilst carefully checking the documentation regarding our return journey from Heathrow to home on 8th February, I spotted that ROL had provided the wrong BA flight number! I had to e-mail ROL urgently, as there seemed every chance that if the driver was monitoring incoming flights in order to be at Heathrow at the correct time this could well cause a big problem! Fortunately the driver was waiting for us, with a name board displayed for 'Herr Rookwood'! And we arrived home safely. Whilst we were on the cruise we met up with a lady who had also booked through ROL. She told us that she had actually booked this same cruise a year earlier, but wasn't able to go. She was advised by ROL, presumably with an apology, about 6 weeks before the cruise that sadly they had forgotten to book a state room for her on the ship! Hard to believe! And even harder to believe how ROL appear to generally receive positive reviews on Trust Pilot and Trip Advisor. Unlike the friend we met on the ship, we will NOT be giving ROL a second chance!

Having recently lost a family member, following a short illness, we were now in a position to think about cruises. Knowing that we had left it late for a Summer 2025 cruise, we spoke to Jo at ROL and she was very helpful in assisting us with a booking. Her knowledge of the ship was extensive and we took her advice. After a difficult few months we are now looking forward to our cruise in July.
