United Kingdom | 26 September 2024So, these people sell Jellycat toys but don't want to tell people they're Jellycat unless they ask... Seems weird to me. I wanted to order a bear that was our of stock everywhere else. This place had it, I only found it through a Google search. I could see nowhere it listed that the bear was Jellycat, so I used the online chat and asked. I was told yes, it is Jellycat. Now, anybody who collects these plushies knows that they come with their iconic Jellycat swing tag attached to the sewn in labels. These tags are a big deal to collectors. This bear arrived and his swing tags had been removed and a garish own brand swing tag crudely attached onto the bear itself. I contacted the company again and asked why the tags were removed. They said they don't identify these bears as official Jellycat and therefore remove the swing tags. They also said they don't claim to be official Jellycat stockists either. I asked for a full refund for my item and the postage I originally paid and the lady wanted to argue over £5 for 30 minutes. Telling me to send it back and they would decide initially. I finally got her to agree to refunding the total amount I originally spent, only to be told they expected me to pay return postage. What I can't get them to understand is that when I asked if it was an official Jellycat item and was told it was, it seems stranger for me to expect it to arrive without tags than it does for it to have them. Their current argument is that it never said it would have Jellycat swing tags. I am trying to raise that it seems more obscure for it to NOT have the tags. Who orders something and expects it to come with no tags on it unless the listing explicitly states it has no tags on it. I am physically disabled and to be able to get out to return this is already a hassle, but to be expected to find the money to post this back too when I'm not at fault is ridiculous. I'm off to Trading Standards as I believe there is some sort of foul play here, I have also informed Jellycat that they may be selling fraudulent bears. Customers clearly aren't cared for with this company. EDITED TO RESPOND TO THEIR REPLY: The reply says that they have been in touch to resolve the issue. They have not. I contacted them through online chat to ask about returning it and spent almost an hour stuck in an argument with them trying to get a full refund and return postage paid for. They refused to pay for my return postage costs and so I took the matter up elsewhere.
