United States | 07 December 2021With April International, you end up paying more than if you had no insurance, no matter how expensive you pay your insurance! ( I was paying $1,900 per month!). Stay away, vey dysfunctional, even after 3 emails and 8 phone calls. Every time they said someone is going to call me back but they never did. UPDATE: I immediately responded to the message below and wrote to the email provided by the insurance. 10 days after that, they still have not responded to me. Their posts here are clearly just for the show :/

France | 07 October 2021I will try and keep this brief as the list of complaints is endless so just one incident to illustrate the confused and uncoordinated way they conduct their business, with complete disregard for any illness or personal compassion. Three months after taking out a policy to cover a long term stay in France I was diagnosed with a serious liver disease. I was forced to prove this four times ,regurgitating the same paperwork every time ,I questioned this but never did get an answer. My last visit to the specialist Hepatology dept (now six months after diagnosis)required the usual blood test which April paid for the results but refused to pay for the nurse who took the sample (€6.08) even though receipts were provided. I then saw the Specialist liver Doctor who they refused to pay for as they claimed she was only a general practitioner. They had paid for the exact same Doctor on all previous occasions and the bill(facture) clearly stated Specialist ,they had also paid previously for all the visits to the local Doctor.....Confused yet ? The Liver Specialist then prescribed a further course of Beta blockers and water tablets which they then paid for......continuity and consistency do not seem to be in the company handbook. So basically you want me to take my own blood samples and prescribe my own medication ? My overriding point is I was and am seriously ill and with every visit to whatever medical establishment I needed to attend was met with zero compassion, endless repetition and the creation of hours of stressful communication which was either ignored or subliminally insinuated I was aware of my illness before taking out the policy. Unless you are a bilingual medical professional with a law degree do not touch this firm of incompetent chancers with a barge pole. The other caveat being “Don’t get ill” They don’t like people with problems they are bad for business. Oh and by the way April when you read this and churn out your standard response of ring us and let’s talk about it....don’t bother. If you want to discuss it let’s do it in a public forum where you will expose yourselves for what you are. Kind Regards and good riddance. Wednesday 13th Oct. April emailed today requesting for the fifth time proof of diagnosis and report ,previously submitted four times before.......Unbelievable This was for payment of two claims they refused as mentioned above and for which a complaint was generated. This policy was cancelled and I asked for the money to be given to charity as the stress / gain balance didn’t equate. The phrase “they don’t know their ar#e from their elbow”was coined specifically for April. This arrived days after the policy cancellation and response from a senior customer advisor. On 13 Oct 2021, at 14:25, Remboursement Expat wrote: Dear Sir, We thank you for your message and apologize for the late reaction. We are sorry to read that you are not satisfied with our services and the processing of your claims. In order to process some of your claims, we do need a medical statement which I could not find in the documents. We are therefore kindly requesting you to provide us (for all pending claims) a medical statement indicating: - the nature of the disease - the date of the first symptoms. Upon receipt of the documents, we will submit your claims to our medical board for advice. Do not hesitate to contact us if you need any further information. With best regards, 16 October 2021. The response from April after pointing out everything they require is in the case history spanning 8 months. No reply from the senior manager below although she is now copied in on all correspondence. Good Morning Sir, We acknowledge receipt of your email and thank you for it. We can read the dates of the treatment, but need to verify what the medical condition was and when it started. What we need is a document you must request to the doctor and which must state at least: - the nature of the disease - the date of the first symptoms. Do not hesitate to contact us if you need any further information. With best regards. The incompetence train is speeding out of control. Just waiting for the CEO to join the party. This was my reply but no result from management and just the usual rinse and repeat from the customer service assistant. Did you not read the email I sent this morning? Madame Marion Sohet when are you going to contact me and take responsibility for these imbeciles you employ. This email was received two hours after I replied to the previous request for the same information provided four times previously. You must be very embarrassed, please keep abreast of my Trustpilot posts where you promised to reply ASAP that was 3 days ago......Think I will try your CEO next. Kind Regards. 18 th October. April are having a day off today no replies or requests.

United States | 03 September 2021One of the WORST insurance carriers to deal with. April International, Olympus Managed Health and Global Excel appear to be the same company or they are so tightly intertwined they may as well be. If you call Global Excel you get the exact same reps on the phone that you do when you call April International and even though the recording says April International the reps will tell you they are from Olympus Managed Health. Annie is one of the reps I get over and over and over and the only answer she can give is "no claim on file" and then she will tell you to call April International and then provide the phone # that I just called. Every once in awhile, I get a rep on the phone who provides accurate info and somehow manages to find the claims that Annie can not. It's to the point that each time I get her, I have to hang up and hope that I get someone else. I purposely status claims that I know have already paid/processed and she still claims they are not on file, but other reps are able to locate them. In addition, I have tried to sign up for an online account w/ Global Excel, but keep getting the error message "ERROR for site owner: Invalid domain for site key"... I have tried this on Safari, Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. I called GlobalExcel for assistance and guess who I got!?!?! Annie w/ April International/Olympus Managed Health! Do you think she could help me? Absolutely not! There is no technical support! There is no support PERIOD! Every rep just gives a canned response that they have supervisors, but you absolutely can not s/w them. You can't even file a complaint, provide feedback. If you push the issue, the reps just hang up on you. RUN from this insurance carrier!!!!

A FUIR.

United States | 04 August 2021I purchased travel insurance for my daughter’s school trip to Washington DC. At first, I loved the cheap price and the cancel-for-any-reason coverage. When my job made me move to a different state before the trip happened, I canceled the trip and then attempted to use the cancel-for-any-reason portion of my travel policy. Not only was it a bureaucratic, red-tape nightmare to find out who I was supposed to make the claim to, what documents I needed, and how the claim process is going to work. The communication was very poor. The April travel insurance representative passed me off to a different insurance company called broadspire. Finally, when I was able to find out who I was supposed to send documents to and communicate with for the claim, I went through a couple months of back-and-forth with the claim representative on the exact dates of payment and the exact date of when the trip started, etc. The insurance claim representative looked for any possible reason to deny my claim, and on the initial claim denial the representative misinformed me about when I was supposed to have paid the initial deposit for the trip and when I purchased the insurance. And, then she claimed later that it was a mistake that she made after I had already sent supporting documentation to support that initial date. I purchased the insurance about a month after the first deposit of the trip. When I purchased the insurance, there was nothing that said that you had to purchase the insurance within 24 hours of your first deposit of the trip. They used this loophole to deny my claim despite my arguments, my supporting documentation, and the low amount of the insurance claim. So, don’t buy this insurance; it really is just throwing money down the drain.

Singapore | 21 May 2021I have had my policy with April for 2 years and they have been worth every penny. The customer service team is very friendly and always explain in detail when you need a bit more information about certain claims and it usually takes a 2-3 days to get reimbursed when not using direct billing. The app is very easy and simple to use.

Singapore | 15 May 2021I had quite the negative experience with April International and would not recommend signing up with them. Look for a good insurer and pay the extra money to be safe and taken care of. This insurer, unfortunately, has disappointed in all the instances that I had to deal with them.

Tanzania | 11 May 2021We are covered by a corporate health policy in Tanzania and luckily have only had to use the insurance for routine medical and dental checks, vaccinations and small issues. However, April have been extremely fast to respond to any claims made, usually within a day and payments received within just a few days. They are by far the most responsive medical insurance group we have had to deal with in our last 15 years as expats.
