Great company to refinance with!!

Process was quick and easy. Document portal worked easily and well. Mortgage agent was prompt and effective.

We were treated very well.

We refinanced with PennyMac as they told us we would be closing within six weeks from the start of the process and we were able to buy the rate down to a percentage we were wanting. Overall, this was an awful experience. After the initial refi paperwork was completed, our mortgage rep didn't call us for almost three weeks to give updates. We were shifted around to different customer reps one of whom acted like she knew about our loan only to find out after 20 minutes of Abbot & Costello that she had no idea who we were and gave us bad information. Our closing date was moved THREE times without any notice, causing our final closing to be a month later than we were originally told. The entire process took around 70 days to close, much longer than what we were originally told it would take. Our rep didn't even call us to let us know the last closing date was being pushed back despite it being our actual closing day. We don't think our rep pushed our loan through at all as we couldn't get her on the line for updates and we were left wondering what was going on for about a month. She didn't respond to emails either. Absolutely ridiculous. The last straw was that she told us when the funds would hit and then they hit several days later - couldn't even get that right. Not happy and would not recommend using this company if you can help it. We ended up being too far along in the process to go with another lender before the rates went back up. We were definitely strung along and given bad information up front. Yes, we understand people were working from home, but there were so many inconsistencies and a complete lack of communication from PennyMac that it became the worst mortgage experience we've ever had. We've owned a few homes and have refinanced before also, so we do have multiple instances to compare this service to.

5 Stars.Penny Mac helped us secure a much lower interest rate than our previous mortgage and this was by far the smoothest refinance I have ever done. Working with Jesse Ramon was a pleasure. His level of communication and assistance far exceeded my expectations. I did have a few issues with the portal. Jesse would request certain documents and when I uploaded them to the portal it was difficult to confirm they were received. Not a huge problem and I would do it again without hesitation.

Very smooth and pleasant experience from start to end. The process was stress free, considerably fast and safe even though we are going through this pandemic. Very minimal exposure, only personal contact at closing.
