Service calls were very good and they did recover my data as promised. They also told me how much data was going to be recovered prior to me agreeing to the pricing. The pricing is expensive, don't be fooled by the standard recovery fee. Expect to pay 3 to 4 times more. They stated that they had to use parts from another drive to recover my data. I had asked that my old drive be returned, it was not, so there is no way to know if they had to rebuild the drive to get it to work. My data was on a 1.5 TB drive and I got a 1 TB drive in return which was mostly full with the data.

The recovered files arrived on a well packed Maxone USB mobile hard disk. It’s connected via a special USB cable that derives power from your computer and also sends the recovered data To it. My data was backed up on two computers.

Let me emphasize that last step - verifying that data isn't corrupted by transport. Only days earlier my brother sent a new SD card with photos he made of a family album/journal made by our now deceased father. The card arrived unreadable. My laptop couldn't read it. My camera couldn't read it or reformat it. It was ruined. It turns out that USPS uses scanning technology that can damage or destroy stored electronic data and the devices that store them. Lesson: don't use the USPS to send data storage devices. I appreciated all of those steps, especially since the recovering was expensive.
