My accountant, D, from Greenback is the absolute best! When moving back from overseas to do my taxes I was pretty worried. I wasn't sure where to start. Luckily I was referred to Greenback and started using there services. It's been three years since finding them and I'll continue to use them because there's no reason not to! D is amazing. She answers absolutely all my questions throughout the year. She's extremely professional and makes a complicated matter very simple for me to understand. I am a perpetually late filer - I despise doing my US taxes and now as an ex-pat I hate it even more. Other services I've used in the past are almost as complicated as doing the forms my self. Greenback is different, the surveys are to the point and focused. My accountant Kai H was excellent and knowledgable and made sure I was getting the most back from the IRS as was allowed. This service is okay. I have done my tax returns by myself until this year (filing for 2020). For 2019 I spent probably 15 hours figuring out my return, but it was worth it. For 2020 I was hoping to save time, but I don't really feel like I'm getting any good explanation for why my return is being filed a certain way. If you just want someone to do it for you and you don't really want to review the details or care too much about the "why," then this is fine. In my case, I know I qualify for other refunds that I'm not getting, and every time I've had a "why" question, I've had to ask 2 or 3 times to get the answer. I'm also disappointed that I can't get support on the phone (it's just a voice mailbox where you can leave your contact information and they'll get back to you).
