United Kingdom | 11 February 2025Received approval, via a registered telephone call with Good to Go Insurance for early return to the United Kingdom after a difficult and terrifying experience in Uganda (as a 19 year old). Once home, went through the claims process providing all the supporting documentation promptly. This was rejected as the Uganda Police Report did not have an "official stamp". It was signed by the official and outlined all the detail as described during the pre-approval phone call. This rejection was despite explaining the nature of the set up of the Uganda Police Department which was not as structured and/or as formal as the UK. Good to Go Insurance use a third party for claims handling (IMGlobal). Asked several times for a transcript of the pre- approval telephone call with Good to Go which would have proved the pre approval, but this is not forthcoming despite doing an official request for access. No conversations or suggestions have been provided on how to resolve this based on the pre-approval having been granted. It has been a torturous experience that remains ongoing 6 months after returning. My advice to anyone taking out travel insurance is to be mindful of any insurance companies that use a third party to deal with claims handling and also obtain proof in writing of pre-approvals. This is a very low value claim too and it has still been impossible.
