United Kingdom | 31 July 2024Somebody opened an Omno credit card using my name and address. I emailed Omno on 22 July to report a fraudulent account using identity theft. Nadine at Onmo replied 8 days later on 30 July saying they could do nothing as I was not emailing from the email address I had registered with them. They should take identity theft seriously. Update: I replied immediately on 30 July and did not receive a response until 13 August (2 weeks later), likely prompted by this review. Apparently the fraudulent account was closed 24 hours after it was opened and the info shared with Cifas. This was good to hear. It does raise the question why I was still sent a credit card - I would prefer them to wait until fraud checks are completed before doing so. In the end I was satisfied with Onmo's reply but it was a long time coming (3 weeks after first reporting fraud). I have therefore changed my review from 1 star to 3. In short this is my recommendation: 1. Reply promptly to emails (1-2 weeks is too slow) 2. If someone says they are a victim of fraud, don't tell them they should be emailing from the registered address. 3. Don't sent a credit card until fraud checks are complete.
