As a first-time business owner, it's reassuring to have someone taking care of my bookkeeping so that I don't have to think about it (particularly the complicated tax stuff).

Bench works incredibly well with little effort. The connections with the banks, stripe, paypal, credit cards… automatically gets the information posting it in the accounting, you just need to confirm the correct categorization for a few and review but most of the time the system gets it right and if not Bench’s bookeepers do their work.

I appreciate the structure and time taken to gather my information, walk me through the system and different ways in which I am being reminded to complete tasks. I appreciate the attentiveness and timely responses of the team. I truly appreciate Marina!

Up until this last year things were very smooth with communication and notifications from Bench, however, recently I'm getting repeated email notifications for various tasks, like uploads, classifications, etc and when I go into the app to do these tasks, there's nothing listed there. I've notified them about this every time it happens, and it still continues to happen even though I'm told the tech team has been notified - this has happened quite a few times over the last year and doesn't seem to be resolved. The whole point of Bench is to save time and I don't appreciate them wasting it, and still charging a premium price for us, a very small company with very few transactions.

I was very stressed in filing for business taxes, but the Bench team was very transparent in helping us during this time. They had an assigned book keeper and tax advisor that was always responsive, from the preparation of the final books, to taking through the steps in filing for taxes even the DE franchise tax which was an earlier deadline. Definitely satisfied with their service.

This has been a complete disaster. They made all kinds of promises and dropped the ball several times along the way. They charged me to backdate my books and said I would have the full year P&L. When I asked them why my books are off by more than 50% they told me my sales numbers were wrong. I think I would know whether I was missing 50% of my revenue. I've been passed between different account managers and each one tells me they don't have access to my accounts and I have to send them separately to them even though I can see that they still have access. I'm pulling my hair out here. There has been serious financial harm caused by their negligence. Now I need to find someone else but wasted thousands of $$ and hours of my time..Terrible company.

Pretty terrible experience so far. It's March of 2024 and they are still not finished with my income statement for January of 2023. When I contacted the bookkeeper about this, he blows me off and says he's too busy to squeeze in a meeting. They just keep asking for more and more documentation, they don't categorize repeated transactions correctly, and turnover is obviously a huge problem, as I've been passed around to several bookkeepers/account managers.

I've been with Bench since 2017, I've trusted them when I started my store, when I sold my store and now as an online retailer and content creator I trust no one else to be one time and on top of everything when it comes to my books.

I see that I am one of many struggling with getting my 2023 books wrapped up. I have been back-and-forth with the bookkeeper. She keeps asking for more paperwork and then kicks the can down the road for the accounting department to deal with. The accounting department is waiting for her to complete the books, so they can begin filing the taxes. This is an absurd merry-go-round. I am currently awaiting a contact for the supervisor. We'll see if they provide it. This is truly scary for a new small business.

Our books from last year are still not wrapped up. We have continually asked emailed, texted without a resolution. This is going to extend our tax bill and planning. Do not recommend!

I've been using Bench since 2017 and always recommended to friends who were also creative freelancers. It took the weight of dealing with finances off of my plate and helped me a lot over the years, however there has always been a rotation of book keepers. I never know who I will be talking to next, which makes it difficult because no book keeper actually learns my expenses and routines and I have no relationship with them. I've never had such a problem getting my books wrapped until this year, and I see that many people are having the same problem, which is alarming. My latest book keeper addressed me by the name of the woman filling in for her, as if she doesn't even know who the client is. I can't schedule a call with her, there's no option anymore. I've e-mailed the client care e-mail with no response. I will be switching from Bench this year after 6 years and I still don't know when my 2023 books will be done. Unfortunate that this company went downhill.

It's mid-March, and I still don't have my year-end financial package from 2023. I've diligently responded to my bookkeeper's messages and categorized expenses every month. In January 2024, my bookkeeper left Bench, and I discovered that my books had not been completed since June 2023.

I’ve been working with Bench for over a year and have not yet gotten fully comfortable with the services. I’ve had consistent turnover in my bookkeepers, and was just notified that my annual tax filings would not be filed in time, and an extension is necessary. This, even though the bookkeepers have confirmed they have had everything they’ve needed for my last fiscal year for over a month and a half. Disappointing. That said, the books are largely accurate, and haven’t needed excessive correction on a monthly basis.

Under no circumstances should you trust your bookkeeping to this team. For all of 2023 I have been paying $299/mo and categorizing expenses, and as of 2 weeks ago I come to find out there's been no work for the entirety of 2023 done. Odd, because every month had said expenses categorized and then they blanket update historically to say they're not complete. If you hire this team, you will be left high and dry. Do yourself a favor and hire someone else who treats customers professionally.

Once a month I have to sit at my computer and help figure out what expense categories some items are. I cant imagine paying a full time employee to do the job Bench is doing for me. It seems best if I just trust Bench and not worry about my accounting and that's hard to do. Bench is doing my personal and business taxes for last year and Im not really sure how thats going. I have to pay the state of Arizona monthly for all of the retail tax I collect on the Arizona website. I am sure my taxes need to be entered there as well and I have no idea if I am suppose to do that or Bench tax advisors do it. Its March 8th and I normally would have all of my taxes done by now. My Bench team member left on Maternity leave. I have had at least 3 other team memebers leave Bench and pass my account on. Each time i let my team member know about my Google Sheet where I track everything. But I havnt seen anyone login to the sheet for a long time now. This doesnt make sense how they know what my business is doing and where the money is coming and going from. $532.49 I pay Bench and hope it is a wise investment. I think after my taxes are done it will make more sense to me what Bench is doing for me. Lots of times when i look at the accounting Bench has done it will say like $7000.00 on hand. Not sure where that comes from. But if this is what it takes to keepy my business operating legally. I will keep blindly throwing money at it.

It's been great turning my bookkeeping over to Bench and knowing it will be done well, so I can focus on what I love to do. I appreciate how easy the Bench platform makes it to find what I need and to provide what the team needs. I also like communicating on the platform with my dedicated contact.
