Not an ideal experience. I noticed they’ve been having some trouble recently. I think it’s leadership from what I read online.

My service with Bench started off fine, but has gone completely downhill in the last 12 months. I was asked to repeatedly upload the same documents after already adding them, I have to make requests for edits and changes several times before they are actually made (and sometimes they aren't at all), and they do not adhere to the 15 day timeline for completing books as stated on their FAQ. I had books waiting for completion and quality checks for over 6 months. I voiced my frustrations first to my assigned bookkeeper, then to the many 'customer survey' requests I received in my email. Nothing was done until I finally pulled the trigger to cancel my account. Now I've paid up through July of this year, but my May and June books remain unfinished. I am now paying a new bookkeeper to go back through this year's books and make sure everything is square. I half suspect that my 'assigned bookkeeper' has been just a chatbot based on the disjointed communication I've received. Spend your money wisely and hire a dedicated bookkeeper, not this service.

Very bad experience. We are a small business with very simple bookkeeping a taxes but this company doesn't seem to know how to do the basics. Our 2022 books are still not done and we are in the middle of 2023 and no one in the company seems to know or care. We have paid our services in full and asked for the highest level of service and my 15 year old daughter could do books faster than this. Do not use this company. We gave Bench 2 years to make it right hoping they would come through and all they did was cost us time and money.

They always answer quickly, focusing on the problem. I'm really statisfied with Bench and with all of their coworkers. Their prices are fair, their service is excellent.

Not great.. i keep asking questions that aren’t being answered. Was promised several things then told they couldn’t be done. They keep trying to charge me but won’t finish my books or file anything or set me up with a cpa or give advice or even provide any help or general opinions.. I’m not sure what I’m paying for honestly & I’m done paying for it. Spent nearly 2 hours in the phone with them to get set up only to not have anything ever start for two weeks. The first “book keeper” they set me up with emailed me after his greeting email to inform me he had been let go but had sent it to the wrong person thinking I was one of his established clients, so that was awkward. Then when finally was reassigned spent just under 6 hours on the phone going over literally every piece of financial information I had available.. only to need to spend another 2-3 hours on the phone the next day to confirm it, only to then have the next employee I was passed off to basically needing everything to be reconfirmed as if we hadn’t already been through every last detail with the previous individual.. as if they didn’t share notes or didn’t verify with one another. It’s odd because I don’t believe I’ve ever actually gotten to speak with a book keeper as of yet and the Individual I was assigned won’t answer any of my questions, saying they aren’t licensed to provide that information but they can find out or I’ll be able to ask the book keeper & neither of those things ever happened. I was told upfront that I would have nearly 24/7 access to an expert who could answer any of my questions.. that was a lie. I explained upfront I was several years behind on my taxes and was very complicated and didn’t know how to get it done, they said this would be no problem at all. Then after 3 months and about $2k they told me they couldn’t do it at all and provided no explanation as to why they had told me they could when they either can’t or aren’t willing to do so. They didn’t bother mentioning to me that their was a free trial option for first month, I had to ask about it and they had wasted the whole first month bouncing me around and refusing to answer any of my questions or even providing any sort of indication of what they were doing or how the process would work or what to expect. When I mentioned this they had no answer, then I mentioned that their website claims one year of taxes filed for free with 1 year commitment, and mentioned I really needed to get this straightened out as we had discussed upfront that they understood the gravity of the situation and we were going to get all my taxes straightened out & squared away so I could just focus on moving forward. To them tell me 3 months later they were only going to be able to handle anything current & moving forward but that they could not “back file” or whatever term they used to flat out tell me, we understand that you have been misled and lied to and we’re not interested in talking about it anymore so where is our $499 this month even though is was $299 last month, to which I ask where are my books & when will I be able to get my taxes filed, to which they say they’ll get back to me.. I would not recommend this company, especially considering they expressed their concerns about the intentions of those I’d dealt with previously and went out if they’re way to reassure me multiple times that I was in good hands & they had a team that was capable of straightening out my situation regardless how in-depth or far back it went and how they were able to pride in the fact that they are able to make things manageable for people when it comes to point of seemingly impossible to do & that it would be explained every step of the way & would be very hands off though I would now be able to consult with experts about any and all questions as they come up and that they would advice, coordinate & guide me as to what my options were and how to get ahead.. all nonsense. They’ve done none of that, in fact I’m not sure what they have done but I certainly don’t feel as though they’ve “helped” me with anything I was promised that they would do or that I’ve been provided with anything that they assured me I would have access to. I’m pretty sure this company is either a scam, staffed with inconsiderate and/or incompetent individuals that take advantage of people because they can. That’s how it seems from where I’m standing

Very please with their work, Eva our book-keeper has been great for keeping everything accounted for. Being a small Business owner and having a Book-keeper who keeps everything together, is one less thing for the owner to manage. I would recommend Bench service to others.

I've been using Bench.co for my business bookkeeping for the last few years and I couldn't be more happy. The first year I used Bench I was very happy and had no doubt’s I would use them again. However, this year I have been so stressed and frustrated. There has been a lack of communication, my first agent left at the beginning of tax season, incorrect information including my address on my tax return, lost paperwork (I had to download documents multiple times), promises made and then not followed through with. I spoke with an about canceling and I am going to broach that subject again. I have no faith anymore and plan to use a program on my own.

So far, the process has been very slow. I've had to do my own accounting to pay quarterly estimated taxes.

Bench Tax has been fantastic for me. I have a small business and file my personal return jointly, so my taxes are fairly difficult to work out but I don't have the budget for an accounting department. Bench Tax solves that problem: they're very responsive to questions and updates, despite serving a large, remote clientele. It's perfect for somebody with a small business, or for someone who does a lot of freelance work.

The team responds quickly to all of my questions or requests in the message area, and they make it easy for me with their document requests and upload links. It is simple to review everything in one place and have up to date information! My team lead even sends a message before she is going out of the office, just to notify me, even though someone else is still available to assist if needed!

With Bench, our books are up to date quickly, and every time we need a report, it’s there for us.

I like the service but really slow to provide information and communication, non answering messages and still do not have my accounting to do my taxes for 2022 , this really bothers me
