They require multiple corrections on their accounting. They basically set up auto categorization based off what they think everything should be categorized as. Even if you’ve already given them information on what things should be categorized as they will not use that info and will wait for you to catch their mistakes. I wish I never signed up with them as I now have a year of books I’m not even confident in. I’m still finding mistakes that need to be corrected and now my taxes have not been filed on time because they keep having to redo the end of year financials. Literally the worst accounting service I’ve worked with. I do not recommend them. Update: they are still going back and forth trying to figure out how to correct my books and their lack of customer service around the situation continues to disappoint me. I stand firm in my opinion that you would be better off blindfolding yourself and guessing at your own books than using this service.

Bench has been a huge asset for my business. Bookkeeping took a backseat during the pandemic, and Bench has helped me complete not only my current books, but 2 years worth of previous bookkeeping as well. I love the convenience of the app, and being able to schedule a call around my schedule.

Save yourself a headache! You pay an accountant to do the work not the other way around. An accountant should be able to decipher between business and personal charges. I had to go through all my statements and highlight everything and notate it for each month. Here we are 3 months later, and they still have yet to complete any of my accounting tasks. Quarterlies are in a couple days, and I will have to do my Jan to March accounting on my own to have it completed on time. Also, may need to do my own Accounting for last year to complete my LLC statement because Bench does not have anything completed for last couple months. I spent over $2500 and am in a yearly contract with them for $499 a month to include completion of my taxes. Save yourself a headache if you are a small business do not go with this company for your accounting needs.

I signed up and received a demo of the product and they had me connect my accounts right there on the call. After hanging up and taking a few days to think about it, I decided we should wait until a business grows more to use this service as our expenses and revenue isn't complicated or a lot right now, and the expense was not worth it now (although I liked the service and assumed I would use it later). But now, they won't let me cancel the account - even though I've never used it or had an onboarding call or talked to an accountant - and are insisting that I can't cancel until next Feb. I never signed a contract or anything but customer service won't cancel the account :( I don't think that's legal, and I'm going to have to find a way to disconnect my bank and card and file a block against them. It's stupid, because I would have used them in the future if it wasn't for this but now they seem shady as heck.

I've had Bench.co for over 5 years. In that 5 years, even thought you're talking to 'people', I never got real or helpful answer to anything. Unless you can already do your books, this service is not good for people who really need someone help them for their finances. Also, several times over, my account was unassigned - sometimes for Months - causing me to miss tax deadline. Admittedly, I don't know everything about finances and taxes - Hence why I got Bench.co. At the end of the relationship, I feel it cost me more overall for the service than the benifit. Their taxfyle service is also a joke. Don't expect ANY help beside them filing it. And expect to be asked for the same documents over and over again. The people who work their are nice and professional, but if you really need one on one support or help I would recommend finding a real person close to you.

I have an accounting BLOCK, like a mental block. I find accounting/taxes so overwhelming. I waiting over two years to finally tackle this. I googled and found Bench. Thank goodness!!!! I work as a Travel RN while running my small business. Bench was able to get me caught up, file my 2021 taxes and it was very easy and was so doable. Now I am current with my books for 2023 and have already filed my 2022 taxes. NO STRESS I love bench and my new book keeper Michael is super sweet and so helpful with my questions.

My experience with them has not been good, and if you want my opinion then you should hire a real accountant. I cannot wait until my contract is up. Their communication has been terrible, and I have no idea where my account stands. I spend more time asking questions than seeing any results. Good luck with taxes - they’ll drag it out and file an extension regardless of how you feel about it. Oh and if you’re a sole proprietor you’ll be a low priority- they made sure to let me know that.

Bench has been super easy to work with and was able to quickly complete my year's worth of bookkeeping. Would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for a bookkeeping service that is top notch.

After vetting several bookkeeping/tax companies, I decided to go with Bench because of their full-service options to guide me step-by-step through the process (as opposed to me having to do a bunch of work to sort through documents on my own) as well as their commitment to establishing (and publicly reporting on) greater equality for women and BIPOC in their company's employment. They weren't the least expensive, but I'm so glad I didn't let that deter me. Any money I could have saved has been much better spent on Bench's services. They are with me for whatever I need, and I need a lot of handholding to ensure that my business bookkeeping is done right. I have been given endless personal attention and assistance whenever I need it. They also check in on me when they haven't heard back, but they're never pushy about it. The Bench platform/dashboard is extremely easy to use. I am quite satisfied with Bench and am looking forward to the coming years with them to keep my business finances organized.

Bench has failed to file 3 years of taxes while being paid thousands of dollars. They caused us to incur over $15,000 in fines from the IRS. Customer support is rude and non-responsive. They jerk you around, lie to you, and gaslight you. I would never recommend Bench to anyone.

The Bench service was very good. They were very good at following up with me and even made reasonable decisions and asked me to review. Really nice to outsource this work for very busy small business owners
