I initially used Bench to help me with my back taxes. They did such a good job, quickly, that I decided to continue with their ongoing service. Having my own business as a contractor doesn’t afford me the time to handle my books properly. Their service is truely a life saver. Highly recommend Bench without hesitation!

It has been a struggle to get my books caught up. It has taken months to finally get 2021 complete for taxes and my 2022 books have yet to be caught up. When I look at my dashboard it shows they are incomplete back to February. I have to upload all my account information when in the past, my accounts were connected with plaid. I have gone through and made sure the accounts are connected, but I'm still asked to upload all statements. I seem to rarely have the same person working on my books, I'm regularly being messaged by new people saying they will be helping on my account, and when I message, I'm greeted by a new person, yet my books remain unfinished. In the middle of the year I received an email stating my bookkeeping rate was increasing by 33% and yet my books remain unfinished. I had to call and stop my payment to get my 2021 books and taxes complete. I had stated I wanted to stop payment, get my books completed so I could change my bookkeeping elsewhere. My payment was delayed, my taxes were finally finished less than a week before filing, and then my account was drafted at the new 33%higher rate, and my books remain uncompleted. When I previously used Bench, I was impressed by the quickness and close communication, my accounts were connected, and I had little more to do than classify certain expenses, answer questions, and monitor my company's books. Now I have to upload bank statements, credit card statements, send frequent messages asking when my accounts will be caught up, stop payments, threaten to leave, and pay 33% more for 50% less service. I am completely disappointed with the slow service, lack of completion, lack of connectivity with my accounts, and uncompleted status of my books. If I am unable to have accurate bookkeeping service, I am forced to guess the health of my company and unable to secure funding from uncompleted books. Please finish my books so I may move my business to more reliable sources. I have paid monthly and my books are 9 months in arrears, please provide the services I have paid for!!

Not only did Bench anticipate my needs, but they also administered their expertise in a helpful, thorough, and kind delivery. I could not have been more pleased with my assigned bookkeeper. She was quick, responsive, and patient!

Bench has been a great bookkeeping service for our small/medium sized business. At our size, it doesn't make sense to have a full time or even parttime bookkeeper. Bench is a great trade off as we get a reliable service and advice for a fraction of the cost. The year-end financial package Bench provides has been adequate for our accountant to have everything he needs at years' end. My only gripe is that we've gone through several bookkeepers in the time we've had Bench, so once we get comfortable with someone, they leave. In all fairness though, all have been competent and responsive. In terms of a recent experience, we purchased some new depreciable assets and Bench reached out for documentation so they can properly categorize and track these expenditures. The upload process for documents using their system is easy and their messaging platform is efficient.

Luke was amazing. So glad we chose to go with Bench and we landed Luke. He was informative, easy to communicate with and all around genuine. He met our deadline for filling last years taxes and we are so grateful! Will definitely be using Luke for all future business.

tldr; missed the deadline to file my business return and bungled my personal return. Bench did not file my business return with NYC on time. When I received notices from the city and asked Bench, they replied that they did not do municipal filings. During my sales onboarding call, we obviously talked about where my business was located and what I did. Furthermore, all my tax documents, s-corp filings are based in NYC. They didn't even advise during the filing because my tax preparer preps taxes in Washington state - he didn't even know about city filings. I asked to file an extension for my personal taxes, which they did, but did not include estimated tax payments before 4/18. Again, I received late payment fees in the hundreds. Bench's response was the same: they don't estimate tax payments. They could have advised their client of these things in advance so we could avoid issues like this but they simply don't care. Look at the list of services they offer and what they don't. You'll see that what they DO offer is marked up google searches and what they DON'T offer is the actual guidance you need from an experienced tax professional. If your return has problems, you will have to eat the penalties. Bench will not support you.

Bench was very useful, they guided me through the the whole bookkeeping process, they also were fast at responding. Very please with my experience with Bench.

I do love the service that Bench provides. It’s a nice hands-off approach to having the bookkeeping managed on a regular basis. The only thing I didn’t like was the hard sales tactic by the sales staff. Because I signed up for the Bench trial after the start of my fiscal year, I would have been forced to pay full monthly price to import past transactions from the previous months. Because we’re a startup, we didn’t have a lot of past transactions. It was only 78 lines of transactions for a seven month period. I was asked to pay $400/month to “catch up” the transactions and have it all reconciled for the prior year and for two months of this year. I didn’t like that lack of flexibility, especially for a very small startup like we are. I am six+ months into using Bench and I still have this bitter taste in my mouth from the sales and onboarding experience.

Bookkeeper is horrible, always late on books, worked one of their staff and he is absolutely horrible I would have to reupload books to him multiple times and he STILL manages to wait 30 days for me to follow up and ask "where are my books" for him to say theyre missing books are also wrong half the time even with blatant mistakes they cant fix it i had to hire a second bookkeeper to get everything fixed straight just don't work with them they are awful at their job and service

I'm forever behind with record keeping and financials, which makes something like Bench perfect for me. Taxes are so much easier now and the process of selling a component of our business even went much smoother than it might have thanks to Bench's great service.

This was an expensive waste of time. First they gave me a timeline of when work would be completed---it was about 8 months late. I contacted support dozens of times and never heard back. By then my books were over a year behind. Then I was finally assigned a new bookkeeper and had to resend ALL the documentation. They finished my books in about a month from that point (a year later) but you could tell it was a rush job and nowhere near accurate. Basically, they just go through your online bank statements and code transactions. Nothing was balanced and what little reports were sent were so old you couldn't make business decisions off of. Taxes were a mess with their reports. My main disappointment was that the books were never completed or balanced! But, I was charged a full year. Don't waste your time. The service is expensive for what it is. I ended up taking my books to a local bookkeeper who got it all sorted out and balanced. This was a very expensive waste of money.
