Bench has been very responsive and accommodating to all our startup bookkeeping needs. We had some transactions that were completed prior to signing up to Bench, and they still organized those transactions for free! Definitely recommend Bench to any startups with limited budget.

I have been working with Bench for a few years now, and I never knew how much of a drastic impact having your books PROFESSIONALLY kept, audited and analyzed would have on my small business. Most of us small business owners are used to wearing many hats all at once. Not because we want to, but because that is the nature of a small business - needing to do a lot with less. I learned very quickly that bookkeeping is the cornerstone of your business, and when it's not done correctly, this impacts more than just taxes - but your ability to properly asses where you're at, what you're owed, what you owe, and your ability to apply for loans and grants. Bench has made it possible for me to get things under control correctly (they have so much experience and know what they're doing no matter your case) and WITHOUT JUDGMENT (this is key!). It's now easier and quicker for me to create necessary forms when applying for loans or programs. I'm less anxious around my finances and where I stand. It's an investment that's well worth it and I don't regret it.

I can't speak highly enough of my experience with Bench. I liked every person I interacted with and they were always very customer service oriented, My bookkeeper was extremely thorough and patient with me. I also appreciated that everyone I interacted with was extremely personable, which made me not feel like I was JUST a customer. For years, I have done a terrible job with my book keeping - but I never felt embarrassed by anyone I interacted with - especially my bookkeeper, Danny - who was fantastic. I sincerely and highly recommend Bench, and I can be a hard ass.

For the first 5 or 6 months my experience was great! My bookkeeper finished my books on time and promptly had me categorize any unknown expenses. I wasn't worrying about my bookkeeping any longer (and that's what I was paying for!) Starting in July when the bookkeeper on my account was switched I never received any confirmation of my books being done and didn't have any complete books from there on out. I'd reached out to support and they were defensive and condescending not believing that they weren't actually being done. Conveniently, at this same time this bookkeeper left the company and my books were still left incomplete. I'm working with a new bookkeeper now and he seems to actually be working on my books but has informed me that 1. my paypal wasn't syncing up correctly since the books stopped being done (now fixed). 2. My shopify wasn't syncing up correctly. He opened a high priority ticket with their IT team to fix this and it's been over a month with no update. These two discoveries make it clear to me that literally no one was looking into or trying to do my books for 6 months. It's more than disappointing. This has been quite the opposite of "not having to worry about my books" which again, is the entire reason I'm paying for a bookkeeping service. Constantly writing to support and my bookkeeper for updates I should be receiving without prompting is a red flag for me and takes up so much time. I've even been written to by team leads for my feedback and received nothing back when providing said feedback. I unfortunately paid for a whole year upfront so I'm just waiting for my books from 2022 to be actually completed so I can find a different provider as they truly don't seem to want my business. Only giving 3 stars because of my experience the first half of 2022. The second half of the year would be 1 star. As of right now, I would not recommend this business to any small business owner, especially if you are doing everything yourself, they can't be trusted.

I'm genuinely blown away with the level of service and friendliness provided by Bench Accounting. I've have spent the last 2+ years having terrible (crying worthy) experiences with bookkeepers. Starting with the initial phone call with Bench I was impressed. And they didn't disappoint in getting my entire last year's books up to date and completed. Everyone I have worked with so far has been at a level of service that I didn't know still existed in today's world. The software is easy to use, all the information is at my fingertips. This was a worthy investment for my business and my peace of mind. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a trustworthy bookkeeping service.

I'm overall pretty happy with Bench, but in general, I'd like to see more of a process with things. Coming from a traditional accountant who didn't really do things the "right" way, I find myself struggling to have Bench be proactive on advice, like quarterly payments and setting myself up for success in my internal accounting and deduction practices. There seem to be a number of people handling my account and I'm not quite sure who to go with for what, which makes me a little uneasy for 2023 planning.

Bench makes bookkeeping way WAY easier than I ever thought it could. I'm crazy grateful.

Our retro-active bookkeeping was very helpful! Running around as a small business owner, we're often out of our depth when it comes to classification of transactions, let alone never having time. Ella helped us catch up on 2022 without us having to do much, other than providing the required documents. We also have less anxiety about filing our taxes now and we've decided to keep going with our bookkeeping for 2023. Highly recommend.

Super disappointed. I've been with Bench for YEARS. Finally got to a point where my business was stable enough to need a CPA and get a handle on taxes. Bench referred me to a CPA who was a complete waste of time, and then told me they can't help with anything else. My time with Bench has been a waste.

Bench helped me catch up with my accounting in a great way. I am so thankful for their service and dedication to their accuracy and efficiency. I would recommend Bench to any business or organization that needs help getting the job done.

There is a team of professionals keeping me in check and on track. It helps that my credit cards, checking account and other info is linked directly to my Bench account, thus automating everything as much as possible. The system lets me review and categorize everything very quickly. The less time I spend on my accounting, the better!

They are liars and when you get mad because they give lip service instead of book service they start talking about professionalism. They are just another financial institution that steals money. Pathetic the leadership is at this company.

I am a satisfied customer of most companies and I have only written a negative review 2-3 times in my life. I am so frustrated and angry with myself for paying $4k for a year of Bench upfront. I agree with every negative review I read on this platform. I question if the positive ones are even real. How can a bookkeeping company have software that requires users to categorize the same expenses over and over? If there is a question as to category in your books and you login to categorize it, their software does not possess the ability to learn from that input so that you don't have to categorize future similar expenses. That fact alone should tell you all you need to know. To pay $300 a month and find yourself longing for Quickbooks functionality is a shame. I also wrongly assumed that we would receive a more advanced level of help and guidance beyond the (sub-par) automated software and an assigned bookkeeper to answer any questions that you initiate. An example of the higher level service I thought they would provide is this: since they had login access to all of our bank accounts, I imagined they would provide a list of the 1099 contractors we will need to 1099 and aid us in the process of gathering the contractor information and submitting the 1099s. They do not even offer this type of guidance! Again, this is $300 for a sub-par software and an assigned customer service rep / "bookkepper" to answer questions that you initiate. Do not expect anything more than this or any pro-active guidance, as I very wrongly assumed one would receive for the cost. I clearly should have done much more due diligence. Very disappointed in myself.

Easy to communicate with reps (I work best on text and she texted me with what she needed). I was also able to easily leave comments on the Bench app.

Hopeless - we will never get the books completed because my new (very high turnover) over-eager bookkeeper keeps making up new problems, questioning everything under the sun, including stuff going years back thats previously done by others in Bench. Ive been trapped with Bench now for years, and of course there's no getting out because they don't use QuickBooks but rather their own home-made system that's not compatible with anybody else...
