New Zealand | 14 December 2023We bought two armchairs from Harvey Norman (Damian at Hastings branch) after looking at all our local stores. Damian was far ahead in service and information, very helpful. On the day before delivery we were assisted by Manu and, subsequently, the warehouse team to view the chairs. Manu was excellent and so patient and constructive. Conroys Movers who delivered the chairs for Harvey Norman did a great job. What a difference a friendly and helpful team makes.

New Zealand | 08 December 2023I received amazing assistance from Karan at HN Main St Palmerstn North while shopping for a smart watch. Will be buying a Galaxy Watch6 from him next week. Had looked at options at other stores but he was the 1st sales person to check my requirements & search the Web for information to help with my decision. Thanks Karan

New Zealand | 21 November 2023Recently arrived in New Zealand, i bought appliances valued worth a total of $17.000 at Harvey Noeman Manukau. Fridge, freezer, Samsung tv, sound system, beds, etc. Delivery of the goods was postponed twice, for reasons unknown. Mid October 2023 the washing mashine died, or as the well known Monty Python sketch would put it; *seized to exist". Several attempts to make the Harvey Norman customer service aware of my problem ended in the absurdities of Little Brittain's: "Computer says no" (cough), or "I am so sorry to hear that". It has now been a month since the problem occured and each and every phone call with the Harvey Normans customer service ends with a "I'll call you back". Guess what; the chance of a lightning striking you, is probably higher than the possibility of Harvey Normans Customer Service calling you back, presenting you with a satisfying solution to your problem. Upon my arrival in New Zealand, i was advised not to expect the same level of quality and service as in Europe, But boy, was i in for a treat. I am definately done with Harvey Norman

New Zealand | 14 October 2023Harvey Norman Dunedin was horrible! Was carrying around a straightener I wanted to purchase as I was looking at other things in store and was told I'm not allowed to look at other things until I've first paid for the straightener, and was not told this in a nice way! Rude and weird rules. Not happy.

New Zealand | 11 October 2023Harvey Norman, Mt Roskill, replaced a faulty Fitbit on the spot, despite it being out of warranty. I had tried to fix the issues with online Fitbit support but was unsuccessful. I had advice regarding my rights from Consumer NZ and went with all components reboxed, and the issues and my actions typed out in case of repair, but I was treated very well and had an immediate replacement!

New Zealand | 03 September 2023I tripped over the cord on my Lenovo Laptop, after which the laptop would not work. So, on 18/07/23, I took it to Harvey Norman, where I had bought it and explained what had happened to the assistant at the counter. She checked the laptop, then without saying anything to me, sought the advice of another, apparently senior, assistant. He told me that both my laptop port and the charger insert were damaged and as such the whole laptop would have to be replaced as it was irreparable, (final cost $2164.00 including a new Word package and a document transfer fee). I agreed to purchase a new laptop, then discussed transferring the records on my damaged laptop with the first assistant. She said this could be undertaken straight away if I didn’t mind waiting a while for the process to be completed. I was happy to wait, however, the second assistant then said that he would need at least half a day to complete the transfer or better still, I should wait a couple of days then leave the laptop with him for a whole day. I agreed to leaving the computer with him for a whole day. On arriving home with both my old and new laptops, I needed someone to help me start my new laptop. As well, I began to have doubts about leaving my laptop at Harvey Norman for a whole day, particularly with regard to scamming issues and the confidentiality of some of my stored documentation, so I took both laptops to a friend. He found that with a replacement charger, my old laptop was functioning perfectly. As well he said that Word on the old laptop could be transferred to a new laptop without any need to purchase a new Word package. He then backed up all my records on a USB. This took not more than an hour and a half. So, I returned the next day to Harvey Norman and spoke to a third assistant who appeared to be senior to the first two and he gave me an immediate refund. However, I still needed a new cord and after consulting privately with another, the more subordinate assistant told me that I needed to purchase a Targus 90 Laptop charger costing $139 and while I was unhappy with the apparent lack of choice and the expense, she insisted that it was the correct and only suitable item for my laptop. At home, when I unwrapped the package, I found that it was completely different to my original charger, being of much better quality with a longer cord and therefore unnecessarily expensive for my needs, being more suited for use in a computer equipped office rather than for an at home old lady's laptop. Thank you to my friend for helping me out with this matter and especially for saving me from so much unnecessary expense. I would recommend that anybody shopping at Harvey Norman take somebody with them who can give sound advice and who is able to quickly deal with any attempts at exploitation.

New Zealand | 21 August 2023Absolutely horrible to deal with. Bought a $1200 mattress which deemed to be faulty after a few months of using it. Went through the replacement procedure where Harvey Norman says they will collect the mattress and supply us with a temporary replacement however the warranty department states otherwise saying they don’t need to arrange for a replacement but will do it out of good will. Once the mattress has been inspected they deemed it to be normal body contouring, we disputed this and they stood by their assessment. They apparently replaced the top layer which were supposedly repairing the issue. Once we received the mattress back, the exact same issue was there if not worse. We spoke to Harvey Norman Manukau again which assured us the fault is indeed not a body contouring fault and she will take this further. After sleeping one night of this mattress we realise the major discomfort this fault is causing us since the replacement wasn’t faulty. As per the consumers guarantees act we are within our rights to ask for a remedy whether that be a replacement repair or refund. After the repair failed and the hoops we had to go through we decided we would like a refund as we can no longer sleep on this mattress. However the manager at Manukau decided that they won’t refund us and they will still continue to repair this item. Which we already tried and our confidence in them repairing the issue had diminished substantially. We have no other option now to seek legal advice and still sleeping with a faulty uncomfortable mattress which is effecting our health. Warning to all customers buying a mattress as if it’s faulty you’re stuck with a faulty product and dissatisfied with the customer service.

New Zealand | 13 July 2023We purchased an Ariston oven from Harvey Norman Tory street in March 2022, with a 5 year warranty. Removing the door to clean it, 3 weeks ago, we discovered a problem with one of the hinges. We carefully followed the instructions in the manual, which proved completely inaccurate with key points missing. The tension on one of the hinges was so strong we could not get it to slide and stay up, it sprang back into place with such force, it shattered the outer glass on the door. We called the store, spoke to a sales assistant called Jessie, who told us immediately he 'didn't like our chances' but would 'lodge a job'. We heard nothing for over a week, we had to call, repeatedly, on 26th June, then again 28th June, 30th June then 3rd July to speak with Jessie again. It turned out Jessie was the 'Manager'of the electrical dept of the Tory St store as we wished to escalate this. A 'service agent' from a company called Euroservice came on the 4th July to look at the damage. He indicated to us the hinge did look possibly faulty and that Harvey Norman would possibly replace the door or sometimes they replaced entire units as doors are hard to source. On the 6th July we were dismayed to discover Harvey Norman will not honour the warranty as Euroservice do not deem a faulty hinge 'mechanical'. But they did give us a quote, which is largely unintelligible, for 'fixing our door'@ $29.00 an hour. We have since discovered the door is irrepairable. The unit is glued together, only one of the hinges had a spring, so it took the entire tension on one side of the oven door. Euroservices and Harvey Norman seem, to us, to have this neatly sewn up. You cannot select your own agent/repairer to fix something which should be covered under guarantee, to decide if a part is faulty, and even with the agents Harvey Norman send, they still will not honour a warranty. The Consumer Guarantees Act means nothing to Jessie or the Team at Harvey Norman Tory Street Wellington. Nor does the 5 year warranty. Do not shop there. Do not buy anything made by Ariston. We never will again.

New Zealand | 04 July 2023Hi, just a shout out to Harvey Norman, Whangarei, thank you for the great service and professional service from Yvonne in particular, who organised a new replacement TV for us under customer product care. We are glad we previously took out the 48 month insurance option on our old TV to enable this to happen quickly.

Australia | 15 May 2023Bought an IPhone and gave it for repair under warranty. It’s been a year now and we have not received it back. Consistently atrocious communication from your store manager’s. Always over promises and under deliver. Substandard and poor communication. I requested to speak to senior manager to complaint about this appalling service. It felt on deaf ears. I called twice today, admin manger once transferred my call to head office and the receptionist disconnected call after listening to my plight. Second time admin manger, promised a call back and again she failed to keep her word. Disgusting after sales service and disappointing to see that no one is interested in resolving this year old case.

Then when I finally got a call saying the photos are ready they tried to cut me off!! I was outraged. I went in the store to get my photos and they didn't even print the right photos! How hard is it Harvey Norman?!?!
