We contracted Greener Energy Group to put 13 solar panels on our home. We had numerous problems with the installation itself, which ended up taking place over two days, weeks apart. When all the panels were finally installed, the placement was not as agreed in the accepted proposal. Passersby commented on the odd placement of the panels. When we pointed out to Greener Energy Group that the panels had not been put up in the agreed position, they claimed that the agreed position wasn’t possible for the quoted price because a different scaffold was needed, at additional cost. Despite the contract specifying that disputes would be resolved through independent arbitration, we had to pay more to get the panels into the originally agreed position, as we were being threatened with legal action.

I got a solar and battery installation from this company back in April 23. Installation was really good, roofers and electrician were all very courteous and did a great job. It all worked brilliantly for the first 6 months.

From start to finish and went smoothly,, Bill excellent sales rep not pushy at all and explained every process which would be happening and how it all works. 3 weeks later Jacob the electrician and crew arrived on time and explained how long all would be and were all polite and understanding about property, all done in a day and would recommend this firm to anyone. Office staff most helpful too and full marks to all involved. Many thanks 😊

So far we are on day 4 of an air source heat pump install that was to be 3 days. Surveyor told us hot water at least would be back on by end of day 1 if not, early day 2. Still no hot water! Chris who is apparently the installs team manager pulled the guys off the job halfway through day 3 as they had 2 other emergencies that were apparently higher priority. As someone who ran a swimming pool installation company for many years, if I had pulled my install engineers off a job to send them to a service job, my clients would have been rightly incensed! Today I had to call to ask where they were and was told they were on yet another job and would be with me by 11am. One engineer did arrive at 11. He hadn't been on another job, he had to take his child to nursery. His other engineer colleague is not coming as his partner is ill and he's looking after his child. The electrician who said the hot water was on before he left yesterday (it isn't) has still not arrived as he's apparently stick in traffic. I've been told by the office that the job will be finished today even if they have to work on late but I have no confidence this will happen from the reaction of the engineer when I said that. It has been minus 16 here every morning and we are apparently not a priority. If the company doesn't have enough staff to keep a dedicated team on an install job then they absolutely should not be taking the jobs on in winter. The communication has been atrocious, with the exception of Matthew who had been trying to help but is obviously getting the runaround. Chris the manager had the cheek to get stroppy with me for having an attitude - show me someone who wouldn't be having an attitude in these circumstances! The solar panel install went well, but that seems to be a completely different team. Altogether, Greener Energy Group do not have the staff and/or organisational skills to carry out these jobs. Avoid them.

Greener Energy turned up promptly and managed to install our panels and battery even though there were some issues with stormy weather that interrupted the process. All the workers involved were polite, friendly, efficient and nice to our dogs.

So far we've had a good experience with GE. Our hybrid heat pump system was installed a week ago and everything is working well but of course it's too soon to say if we'll save any money or be warm enough in really cold weather. If the system performs well over time then GE would deserve five stars. We contacted GE initially and a sales person came out but there was no hard sell approach. Instead we looked at some projected numbers and had everything explained. We were then advised to take a few days to think it through. GEs estimate for how long it would take were accurate. You are dependent on Home Energy Scotland to process an application if you want government help to pay for it. In our case we're getting about half the cash from the government. There is form filling to do and GE were very helpful in providing guidance. The installation itself was done in a day and the system was soon working well. We are using more electricity and less gas now, which we regard as a good thing, Scottish electricity being essentially from renewables. So at this point it feels like a success and GE have been there every step of the way. I certainly recommend considering this company if you are interested in getting a hybrid heat pump system.

BE VERY CAREFUL. Buyers beware - don't sign a contract with this company until you have your Energy Scotland loan in place and you have double checked all their figure work. We weren't told about on costs which made any savings null and void in fact it would have ended up costing us more money. We found out about these by accident when the technician came to check installation options. They also did an EPC upfront (it is in their contract that they MAY do one). Our house was only 5 years old so should not have needed one done ahead of installation. Energy Scotland do not need a new EPC until after installation. So have no idea why one was done before on a relatively new house. After careful consideration we decided not to go ahead and cancelled the contract because it would have cost has more money each year, but because they did the EPC they are refusing to give our deposit back.

Refused to give me a quote unless I had my wife present. Apparently, according to their call handler, it is for consumer protection which is nonsense.
