At first I thought Mann’s was a great discovery. I ordered an electro-acoustic ukulele but it had a buzz on one string and one of the strings wasn’t being amplified at the same level as the others. They quickly sent a return label for me to return it and sent a replacement. Although the replacement didn’t have a buzz it had the same problem with the pick-up. Three strings were amplified properly while the fourth was very quiet. Mann’s didn’t accept this and I had to pay to return the defective ukulele. They said they couldn’t hear what I was hearing. I have been playing guitar and ukulele for over forty years and so have a bit of experience with acoustic and amplified instruments. If they can’t hear the difference then there is something wrong with their ears! I feel sorry for the person that ends up buying the returned ukulele because they’ll be buying a faulty instrument. I won’t use Mann’s again. In response to Mann’s reply below. Let’s get this right. The first ukulele I ordered was a concert instead of a tenor which was my mistake. Under UK distance selling law I can return with 14 days and I paid postage - not Mann’s. I then ordered a tenor and paid the carriage on it. This was faulty which Mann’s accepted so they were responsible for the carriage on the return and posting out the replacement. The replacement was also faulty which they didn’t accept even though it was very clear. The negative feedback is for saying an instrument that was faulty is ‘in line with our expectations’ so buyer beware. Paid carriage on five journeys? I don’t think so. More like two.

Cannot recommend this company enough. Fantastic communication, exceptional problem solving and very efficient customer service. The purchase was straightforward, but we needed some advice regarding delivery before ordering. This was handled very professionally and effectively; the items arrived exactly as promised, delivered with no problems. We had made a mistake and ordered one item incorrectly but we called Tim and he once again was personable and efficient, a few problems with Royal Mail but he sorted it out and rectified the situation when a replacement item got lost and arranged for another to be sent via another delivery service. Best customer service we have received for many years. Products are great quality too and price very reasonable. Don’t hesitate buying from this company are they really understand and value the importance of treating their customers well, before and after purchase!

I popped in to see if the store had a battery holder for a Tanglewood guitar, I dealt with Alex, who asked me to send a photo by e mail. He's been in touch with Tanglewood and got one sorted really quickly. He also gave some excellent advice regarding new string. I only spent £20, but he treated me as if I was spending £2000. Best service I've had in recent memory.....and I worked in retail for over 30 years. Next major purchase definitely going to Manns in Colchester.

All aspects of service was fine except one point. I am in the Republic of Ireland and when I received my instrument it camE with a VAT charge from Irish Revenue which added another 30% to the cost - BECAUSE THE UK IS NON-EU. This was not ( to the best of my knowledge) indicated during the purchase process. Yes you may say " buyer beware" ...but that won't cut it with me. Deeply disappointed. IF YOU ARE PURCHASING FROM MANN FROM A EUROPEAN COUNTRY PLEASE BE AWARE THERE COULD BE SIGNIFICANT VAT ADDED TO YOUR PURCHASE PRICE.

I did a lot of searching online. Mann's was the least expensive I could find taking into account delivery charges (Free for this product). Seamless ordering and delivered quickly. Can't ask for anything more.
