United Kingdom | 21 September 2020While my experience with the staff at the agency was positive, upon leaving it was not, when you move in with them, they get you to sign about 75 photos of the condition of house, while not leaving you copies so that you could review there view of the house, upon leaving, i realised that they had used older photos showing the oven and other areas in the house, i went through cancer treatment while in the house, so didnt have people round or cook a lot, when i left me and my girlfriend, cleaned the house throughout, even buying a profesional oven cleaning kit, they told me they where keeping all the deposit and showed photos of an oven that i didnt get when i moved in, and some scratches on the wall, that my cat had done, easly fixed with some paint, but they decided to charge me £350 to fix this, if you use this company, make sure they give you a copy of the images you sign when you move in, if they havnt got them, go through each image and make sure there correct, i took them to a tribunal with the deposit scheme and won over half my deposit back £290, would not recomend you use them as if they will steal money from someone who was a model tennant ,paying on time every month, out of my savings, while sick, they will steal anyones money.

United Kingdom | 02 September 2020My partner & I were looking to move to Milton Keynes from London & visited a really nice bungalow let by Northwood. We fell in love with it & decided to pay the holding fee & sent our tenancy application through. That was done on August 5th. Didn't hear anything back until I messaged them about it on the 10th. We basically had to email them two to three times to get a response per week saying things were missing from the application. We were chasing them as our current tenancy ends on September 10th to just not hear back. Today being the 1st of September, we just got an email saying that they will have us move into the house on the 11th & will call us next week... Needless to say, we will not be moving using that company & will make sure to let our friends know to stay away from them.

United Kingdom | 28 August 2020My partner and I attended an Open Day at a rental property at Ashurst Close in Sheffield. We queued with a 5 people all in line waiting to view the property. We were left on the road side with no contact or explanation of how the viewing would be. The representative of Northwood was totally unhelpful, we asked about the utility costs and other details - his reply " he had never seen the property before until today" therefore he had no idea. His name was Naz, he seemed very off hand and not really bothered if we were there or not !!! We had to ask the next procedure as we were interested in applying for the property, reluctantly he gave us an application form. We completed the application form which includes personal details, these were submitted to the office - to this day NO ONE has responded which is now 6 weeks !!! Walking past the office today we saw this has now closed down - Hillsborough !!!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AT ANY PRICE !!!!!!!!!

United Kingdom | 27 August 2020Lying, manipulative, bullying, out of touch – avoid at all costs! We were paying Northwoods almost 30% commission to be on the guaranteed rent scheme which was sold very well to us initially by Denis. He’s a very good salesman, I’ll give him that. However, now I can’t believe a word that he has said. You can actually buy guaranteed rent insurance for around £150 a year, which covers you just as well as this scheme does. Anyway, we wanted to move on to the Fully Managed service which costs 15% commission. I broached the subject with Denis and was immediately met with abrupt emails about it being impossible to do unless we serve notice on the tenant. Obviously, that’s something we didn’t want to do, and we made that clear straight away. Northwoods used this to try and blackmail us in to staying. Here are some highlights from the whole process: - Denis bringing my family in to it to emotionally blackmail me into staying with Northwoods. (Northwoods said that they were just being friendly, but in the two years that we had been with them, they not once asked about my family). - Blackmailing us in to staying by forcing our hand in evicting the current tenants. (Northwoods said that this was in their contract and they were entitled to do it. But, they knew that we wouldn’t budge on this point and so used it maliciously. They could have quite easily kept the tenants in there and in the end, they did offer us this, but too much had passed for us to accept). - Lying about the fact the tenants had to be kicked out, giving us false information. (Northwoods said that it’s in their contract. However, it is not the law, you cannot force tenants to leave in this situation. They lied to us and still continue to do so. So this point I will be taking up with Property Ombudsman as they are giving out false information). - Refusing to do viewings for new tenants (Northwoods stated that this was the tenants decision, but from what I now know about Northwoods, I think their hand was heavily pushed in to this decision). - Refusing to tell us that you had found the tenants a new house until the last minute, giving us very little time to fill the house (Northwoods knew we struggling with money and yet they went out of their way to ensure that we would lose money). Northwoods actually used this time to find the tenants a new house to stay with them. Again, they did this all without telling me that they were doing it. - Asking us for the ridiculous sum of £1,140 to change service when they knew the reason we wanted to change was because we were struggling financially. (Northwoods claim that this sum was calculated as 6 months compensation to them, which is ridiculous in itself, but they claim they were entitled to it. We had just paid 30% to them over two years and now they wanted to rinse us more). - Lying to me about the tenants insisting I take a new 3 year contract with Northwoods. (Northwoods still claim the tenant insisted on this, which, after speaking to the tenant myself, there is no way they ‘insisted’ on it. The tenant actually asked me to cut Northwoods out of the whole thing and rent the house to them independently.) - Finally, Northwoods offered me the change of service for no fee after everything had happened and after we had decided to move Estate Agents. They knew they could do this and it would look good on their part, even after the tenant had decided to move to one of their other homes and after we had moved Estate Agent. - Making things even more difficult for the new tenants by leaving the house uncleaned and damaged and refusing to clean the carpets or pay for the damaged decking. (Northwoods said that Denis went out to inspect the house and then they got the clean done properly. They think they did the right thing and were helpful by sending Denis out, but what it actually looks like is that Northwoods didn’t believe the new tenant and wanted to see for themselves. What would have been helpful would have been Northwoods agreeing with the picture evidence that was sent to them and getting the house cleaned properly, and also paying for the damages left by the previous tenant. Thankfully we are now safely with Martin and Co with a new tenant in the house and are very happy with them. I cannot recommend Northwoods at all to anyone looking for an estate agent as they seem to lie through their teeth and have no remorse about it. I did ask Northwoods for an apology and got a stern reply back and no apology forthcoming.

Greece | 10 August 2020Terrible, they made fools out of us. Dishonest, reticent, very poor at responding unless you chase them constantly.

United Kingdom | 07 August 2020Northwood worthing what a waste of space, they let out a property to me only to find out the flat was unfit to be let out, dodgy electrics, a window that had fallen from frame, a toilet that leaked all over floor after every flush, a shower that leaked downstairs and the final blew, the bathroom floor had fallen threw and to top it off Darren South the landlord would let him self into the flat without promision on several times. Now I've been waiting since April for news on my deposit. Stay well away from Northwoods .

United Kingdom | 23 July 2020I moved out on the 22nd of April and they kept my deposit until the 23nd of July. There were no disputes or anything. They didn't claim we owed them money or that we left the place in a state that would warrant us losing our deposit. Just every time we asked when we will get our deposit back they said "It will take a month to process". They did this every month. It took going there to shout at them for them to finally release the deposit

United Kingdom | 17 July 2020I can only comment on myself experience as renting, and my partner used Northwood. The administration was transparent enough. Using estate agents, they normally follow the same process but I found northwood perhaps the better to get the tenancy drawn up. I wasn't waiting long after checks, and my partner had the same experience.

United Kingdom | 16 July 2020Very disappointing exprience and cost us near £3,000 loss of rent not being collected. Completedly incompetent and pathetic.

United Kingdom | 10 July 2020I have never been so disappointed and disgusted with a company, absolutely atrocious behaviour and lack of care, constantly fobbed off with lies and broken communication. Jackie I assume Jaqueline H couldn't be bothered to return calls that she promised, had to call back obviously she was unavailable to answer and never called back even now a week later. if you cannot communicate, then what is the point of your company? I am so very glad I do not use these jokers in business, I wouldn't recommend anybody to its a waste of time, money and stress even now the police and solicitors are involved they seem to have buried their heads well into the ground

United Kingdom | 04 July 2020I have no doubt that this company needs to close. I suffered so many Rude, patronising and unreasonable comments. They are not professionals but torally unreliable ...do not use them at all. The government gave too much power to landlords. Enough is enough!

United Kingdom | 19 June 2020I rented a house but was unable to move in due to illness and then Covid-19. On doing a final check of the property (which I still made sure was clean) I was told I would have to pay for an oven and hob clean. When I told them I did not move in, let alone use it, I received an email saying that their original pictures show a 'very shiny oven and hob' then put a 'smiley face' emoji!!! They eventually agreed to release my full deposit, however 2 weeks later I still did not have it. On emailing them they told me the DPS had tried contacting me - which they hadn't. I contacted the DPS and they told me they didn't try to contact me as Northwood Newcastle had not given them any of my contact details!!! I have sorted it now MYSELF! I would never go through this agent again!

United Kingdom | 30 May 2020Northwood in reading, offered on a house through them, told lies from the offset. House was advertised with no chain when it actually had a 4 tenants who wouldn’t vacate due to divorce. Lost our buyer because of it all. The estate agent has then gone and put it on again advertised with no chain. Beware the next person!!!

United Kingdom | 14 May 2020Beware of the Guaranteed Rent Scheme ! Regardless of the state of your property when handed back, they will only pay a maximum of £1300 damages (in the small print). The service provided was appalling too !

United Kingdom | 12 May 2020With regards to Northwood Lancaster, diabolical service and customer relations. Complete lack of communication and no urgency whatsoever. Moreover, “short”, unprofessional and contradictory responses. I seriously wouldn’t advise anyone to use this Estate Agent.

United Kingdom | 10 May 2020Absolute crooks. I trusted that my son was renting from a reputable company being so far away from home and from his family. They were extremely helpful when it came to moving him to the apartment and taking our money. But when it came to him ending the lease they couldn’t have been more wooden. Claiming faults to the apartment when he’d left which were untrue then subsequently deducting monies from his bond. He was also promised some personal documents to be returned in the post from Northwood... which never arrived then subsequently denied they had them, even though we have emails from them admitting they were in their office. Please don’t do business with this company, they’re absolutely abhorrent.

United Kingdom | 04 April 2020There is no qualification or professional membership that anyone has to achieve before they can call themselves a letting agent and this is certainly the case with Northwood Northampton. From the start they had no idea about the house or how things worked referring me to the landlord each and every time I had a question. Their aim was to extract as much as they could in fees and incidentals and tried to claim my entire security deposit because I had complained about them so much. The assistant manager was a real piece of work and was so obviously completely incompetent. There are so many decent lettings agencies in Northampton so please do not rent or let through these people. I had to litigate against the landlord to get my full deposit back plus costs. Northwood were nowhere to be seen in court!

United Kingdom | 20 March 2020Good Morning, Following the announcement from the government yesterday I would like to confirm that all rent is still due and rent arrears will simply accrue. We do have every sympathy with anyone in isolation or affected by the coronavirus in terms of employment and whilst measures have been announced, this is not a measure of a ‘rent free’ period. If you have genuinely been affected by this situation, in order to help we will require proof of any measures your employers have taken in regard to your employment and how this will affect you paying your rent. We will try to work with you to find a solution during this time within the government guidelines however please be aware that any rent arrears will need to be paid when this situation is over. To ensure you do not fall in to arrears that you will not be able to pay back, please continue to communicate with us as this may affect your tenancy further down the line. If you are worried about being laid off, we can suggest contacting Brooks who can provide you with a legal and General income protection policy. You can call them on 01226720043 however this is something that we would suggest is set up asap as this product may not be available for much longer. Alternatively, in some cases the landlord may allow your deposit to be released to cover one month’s rent however this will be dependent on the individual landlord and a payment plan would need to be put in place to pay that back. Our office will continue as normal until we are told otherwise from Government however we will be limiting contact with tenants and some inspections will be postponed. We will however still need to ensure your safety and ensure we are still compliant in regard to Gas Safety Checks and EPC’s so we are trying to bring forward as many checks to ensure if we are in lock down these checks have been carried out. We wish you all the very best in these difficult times. Kind Regards Northwood Tyneside
