Nightmare company. Do not use.. Can’t trust them an inch. Incompetent, cheating, obstructive and zero customer service. We were with them for many years as they acted as my letting’s agent. Then the Torquay office closed due to some fraud. So was “run” from Exeter. This is when the nightmare began. This meant they stopped doing any house inspections, didn’t fix the smoke alarms or faulty mains for over 2 years after were told needed doing. Tried to charge 5-7 times normal cost for any repairs. Then when told we were changing companies, got nasty and openly made up claims, got obstructive, refused to help in any way. We asked each year if rent should be increased. They always said no, would be too much. Then did so behind our back and did not pass on to landlord. This went on a few years until we got other quotes which were much more in tune, cost us a fortune. Similar to their sale estimate, was 40k adrift from reality.

Do not use guaranteed rent scheme - gave us £430 a month and rented our house for over £650. Was with them 10 years and with life events we wanted it back and found urine from cats in our carpets, fleas and lack of respect that they had not been in property inspecting for 2 years stating tenant was poorly and can’t legally enter? We expected them to manage it. No defects had been reported and staircase was broken, the radiator had been broken with errors on boiler. Mostly there was a big mast from old tv hanging off the roof onto downstairs property we could have been liable for. Handover was awful they tried to tell us our property wouldn’t go for much quoting 80k when we sold it for 40k more. They wrote list of things we needed to sort never did at end of tenancy quoting out of scope on life of carpets or fittings etc. Cleaner was meant to be cleaning it out after 5 weeks no rent off them we demanded keys back - they didn’t pay for delay quoting more contract jargon. Very poor attitudes and would certainly not get a valuation from them. Do not trust them we dealt with the Newcastle branch. Also could never get the same person always someone just starting maybe they can’t keep their staff. Avoid them at all cost your house

Zero rate for this company! Northwood Sutton/Epsom. They took my deposit and made me pay for it to be placed a in deposit scheme. Now that I have moved they have refused to give me my deposit stating they don't have any rocord of it in any deposit scheme. Luckily I have my receipts but still they have refused to pay me my deposit back. They will be hearing from my Solicitor! Rude staff! Avoid them at all cost!!

If you want a company who will rob your deposit from young students this is the company to use. Rude staff absolutely clueless people who they hire. ( especially the Oxford branch ).

We rented a student house in Exeter, and they charged us for a missing key we were never given. Also, they do everything they can to keep your deposit.

Northwood Macclesfield I have moved out of a property and had the inspection, they said it was left in good condition and sent minor issues that needed resolving. I agreed to a fee of £45 for an oven clean. They advised they would get a quote for cleaning services for a wipe down on light switches and two skirting boards, a brief wipe of freezer and a door, the work would take no more than half an hour, They went ahead and agreed £45 for a clean. I’m now more than disappointed and I am going through citizens advice. It isn’t about the money, it’s the principle. Unfortunately from what was a good relationship during tenancy to now leaving and requesting a deposit the relationship seems unprofessional and arrogant. I paid my rent a week in advance of the due day without fail every month and left the place immaculate and in better condition then moving in. The garden was not done when I moved and I cleaned this, jet washed it and they took photos as if they had carried out the work. Before I left I got a leaf blower/suction as we live next to a Forrest and I was asked to return to pick up a few leaves. I’m now very disappointed and shocked in the attitude change and the fact they did not allow for me to obtain reasonable cleaning quotes. I received a abrasive manner when questioning the price and I’m not impressed one iota

NORTHWOOD rented out my property to a family that recked my property, it cost me nearly £10,000 to put the property back in a rentable condition. Be very careful

Great service from Northwood Macclesfield branch and especially lettings manager Clare Stockell. Our situation was less than straightforward but Clare guided through the process as smoothly as possible. She was in regular communication with me as well as the landlord, Cheshire East council and other parties, providing updates and reassurance throughout. Would happily recommend Northwood to anyone in the property market

My experience from beginning to completing the renting of my property has been excellent. Communication was great and everything was explained to me & my husband in detail. After care service has been excellent always listening & giving us an option, which has left us & tenants feeling happy. Will definitely recommend this estate agents at all times who also achieve in getting a good rental for what your property is worth!

Terrible service from Northwood Newcastle - avoid at all costs if renting. Every single time I report an issue with the property it takes a ridiculously long time to have it addressed - never receive updates and the attitude of the staff often borders on rude when all I am looking for is a solution and not to be fobbed off again

Very friendly staff; however, customer service is very poor, do not respond to phone calls. In my opinion, they left the house filthy and unlivable, claiming it was wear and tear. The tenant had wrecked the place. Left holes in walls Cigarette butts in the radiators The gas meter was pulled off the wall and broken Screwed lock and bolt onto UPVC door Window looks broken Splashes of food on the ceiling The kitchen door is filthy (black), as is the rest of the house Northwood has not attempted to make any of these things right. However, they claim that they paid someone to paint the lounge. They have been robbed. It looks like I will be taking legal action. I expected the Northwood Estate Agency to take action to ensure my property was returned in a livable condition, which they failed to do. I am extremely disappointed with their lack of responsibility and their unwillingness to take ownership of the situation.

Northwood Derby Took a year (and counting) to sell my property during a "property boom" - will not use again. Life has been on hold for a year as a result. Personal and professional life have both been affected. Fine on the rental side and no issues - advice is stick to rentals.

Northwood Wigan - faultless! I have been with Northwood renting out a property for several years and have had nothing but positive experiences. I have found all the staff at the Wigan branch professional, knowledgeable, helpful and extremely patient. I also used Northwood when selling my house recently and again , I could not be happier with the service I received. Special mention to Shannon who worked tirelessly day after day , week after week to ensure the sale went through as smoothly as possibly . Shannon is exceptional at her job , she would be a real asset to any team and is certainly one to Northwood ! I cannot recommend Northwood (Wigan) highly enough to anyone looking to sell / buy / rent etc . You will not be disappointed, you are definitely in safe hands ! Thank you all at Northwood!

Totally unreasonable company, especially the lady call : Alisha Clarke she was so rude and so unknown what’s happening. I booked to see a flat for rent in Guildford last Monday they booked me in for next week as they said: Haven’t got a key to get earlier. So on Saturday just 2 days before my appointment they cancelled. I did try to speak with the lady in meantime, but she pretended wasn’t her so i call them back again and managed to speak with her. Without any reason she said: Sorry the house is not longer available… When i asked her why didn’t call me earlier she said: I don’t know but the house is not available. Miscommunication with the other staff, really rude a d really unprofessional people. DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL !

BEWARE! I strongly encourage you to do not to rent from them unless you want to have a massive headache during and after the tenancy period. They will do everything in their power to make sure they can take a slice of your deposit no matter what. Not just that but the management and support, in general, disappear just after you pay them the first month's rent and deposit. Long story short - just after collecting the property keys 1 one of them was faulty and I could not open the door - be ready to pay from your own pocket even if they gave you faulty keys. Want to check the meter reading - pay yourself to open other doors. Troubles understanding how the boiler works and how to adjust temperature? -Find out yourself. Takes weeks sometimes several weeks to respond to email enquiries. If you call them, most of the time not available, and asking to call back - never happens. This is nothing comparing how they make fraudulent schemes with your deposit - first of all, they will make an inventory checklist that EVERYTHING is in PERFECT condition while in reality, it is not. Take a picture of every single corner before moving in otherwise they will say it was your fault and will try to steal your money from the deposit. Also, they delayed almost two months to respond and give back the deposit, trying to convince me dozens of times that the poor condition of the property is my fault despite I had proof that it was already before we moved in. Shamelessly do everything just to grab your money at every single opportunity. They also tried to chase me to pay them early termination fees while there were multiple emails that early termination was agreed upon with the landlord and Northwood. Their hired contractors took a parking permit and did not bring it back which leads me to face 25£ reduction from my deposit. Also, the letting agent lied multiple times that everything will be "cleaned" and "fixed" before we move in but ultimately not they did clean and fix anything but also blamed that it was our fault for that at end of the tenancy! Absurd. Also, the quality of the property is a joke, imagine their contractors are so bad that instead of properly installing light hubs they GLUED them instead to prevent them falling down! Therefore was not able to replace the light hubs, and even Northwood again blamed me because I did not replaced. Theatre of the absurd. Be aware of this letting agency, save your time and nerves dealing with them, I used 7 different agencies in the past and this one was the worst. Trust me, there are dozen of other better letting agencies in Derbyshire.

Never rent with these! I rented a house with my partner. When we moved in, the garden bin was full with non garden rubbish along with 2x fence panels, broken glass and other 2 bins were also full. I told the agent about this and they promised to remove it. They only removed the fence panels. When we moved out, the company tried to take £100 for the bin being full, the door handle coming off and having 2 lightbulbs instead of 3. I told them about the door handle as I was stuck upstairs and there was no fire exit for I had to break the handle off. The bedroom door handle also broke. They are inconsistent and we only got the deposit back because we said we were going to go to the DPS if they didn’t. One lady was very rude to us and told us we had to give the keys back in before 12 on the 10th November otherwise we would be charged an extra day despite me telling them I could drop them off around 2 because I work from 9-6 and only get my break at 2 and my partner works 7-8. Now 2 months after moving out, they are still being a nightmare. They are disputing the council tax despite the fact I have proof of the date I moved out. I’ve gone to the ombudsman. Never go with this company! However if you absolutely have to then photograph and document EVERYTHING! Because they will try to go back on their word.
