United Kingdom | 18 October 2021As a result of the complete negligence from the Northwood Reading branch, our sale took 6 months to go from accepted offer to completed! When we quoted the estate agents' own words back to them which proved they were lying, we had an extremely nasty response from them. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

United Kingdom | 12 October 2021Northwood Bolton let my home go to ruin with tenants that I continuously warned them were dirty and thoughtless people. When I got the house back, it was in a vile state throughout. It is a massive mystery what Northwood was doing for 2 years. Were they visiting and not bothering to red flag the condition to me? Or were they not visiting at all? If the latter, is that a breach of contract? Naturally, COVID was a gift to agents that simpy take the money and don't bother visiting or don't care about what they see when they do visit. COVID lockdown lasted some months on and off, but to let a house get in that condition takes years. They made numerous excuses, such as the tenant not being there for scheduled visits. They are contractually obliged to be there. if not, just go unannounced. The condition report when the keys were handed back was 'unacceptable' throughout. When I mentioned to Northwood that I might take the tenants to court, I was told that I couldn't because the original condition report had been lost!!!! In sum, Northwood took around 1200 pounds over 2 years and it remains unclear to me if they visited once in that time. Just cleaning the house has so far cost around the same. I am left wondering what I paid Northwood the % commission for. Totally unacceptable.

United Kingdom | 11 October 2021Harassed none stop by this company, from the moment I have moved in, until the moment I will leave. As mentioned below, they paint the houses, give it a fresh appeal to the eye. Within a few months of you moving in you can really see what damage the house is in. You dare to complain you will be issued a section 21, just before Christmas with disabilities. Most evil miserable rudest worst agency I ever dealt with. I am a human being, not your pay cheque !!!!! You treat people like a disgrace.

United Kingdom | 08 October 2021Do not rent from Northwood without taking a qualified surveyor!! We rented a property for 6 months and had nothing but trouble. Mold was painted over, damp so extreme that they said that the building had to be completely stripped to find its source, windows that didn't fit frames, doors falling off, boiler not working and improper insulation. Advised to turn heating up and open windows to deal with damp and mold...... In the middle of winter..... When we moved out they tried to claim against our deposit for damages that was actually there contractors bodge jobs!! There houses are decorated to look fresh when you view and move in but it only takes a week or two to show it's true condition. Avoid the Stoke office!!!!

United Kingdom | 06 October 2021I cannot praise Northwood Estate Agents enough! Jayne navigated and supported me so well throughout a really emotional journey in selling my parents’ home. The care to detail when dealing with everything from valuing, listing and viewing was second to none and both Jayne and Michael were absolute lifelines throughout the process. I was guided to secure the best buyer whilst ensuring I had complete control of all the various choices to be made. I recommend Northwood 100% if you want a caring, informative and stress-free journey - a rare thing these days. Well done all, an easy 5 stars! - C Brown

United Kingdom | 05 October 2021Literally the worst agency I have ever used and I lived in three countries, so that's saying something. They don't turn up to check if the inventory matches the reality, they ignore your emails when you complain, only extend your lease by 6 months, so they can bully you into two rent rises a year, even though the landlord knows nothing about it, so they blatantly lie and if you don't agree to pay more they issue you with the eviction notice. If you need to get anything done in the property you need to threaten them you'll report them to the relevant authority, otherwise they ignore you. They share your email address with hundreds of people which is against GDPR, they're late returning your deposit even though they have 10 days to do it. I can go on and on. Avoid like a plague. Not even worth 1 star.

United Kingdom | 30 September 2021Unfortunately today we was having an appointment for 2 bedroom house in Crawley (Broadfield), but no one from the letting agency did not come to represent and show the house. My lady called in the office and they said that somebody(agent) must be on the place, but at least nobody did not showed up. Called them a few times more, but did not get an answer anymore. We was waiting for that appointment 2 weeks and we was very excited, but now we are feeling so disappointed and DO NOT RECOMMEND this agency!!!

United Kingdom | 29 September 2021The staff in Liverpool branch are racist. So if you are not English don't bother to waste your time. They just wasted 2 weeks of my time!! Horrible agency!! Even look at their reviews here it's not even 2star out of over 90!!!

United Kingdom | 21 September 2021Absolutely useless. I went to view a property the estate agent knew nothing about it and couldn’t even tell me the age of it - not informative at all. When I called up the next day I was promised a call back as they hadn’t responded to texts and then missed out on the property because of their poor communication. Would definitely not recommend.

United Kingdom | 11 September 2021I received a distressing call from aNorthwood employee that was very rude in relation to the inventory check-out for Flat 151 Southside , St John's Walk, B5 4TH. Aside from the rude and unacceptable tone, the employee ('Mo') insisted that money would be taken from our deposit because there was a hair in a drawer and some dust under the sofa. In other words the flat was very clean, but he wishes to nitpick about hairs, and thinks that he has a right to insist that we pay. So I just want to re-cap a few items over the tenancy: We moved in in January. One of the key fobs didn't work. So the inventory check didn't capture something as important as that, but you captured a hair in a drawer. I didn't make a big fuss, we just got it resolved. Northwood also informed the Council that Andrew Green and Emilie Tao had moved into the property. My boyfriend’s name is not Andrew Green. So again, happy to criticise a hair in a drawer, but couldn't get the name of the tenant correct? This was a bit of a pain to correct with the council tax. They got water and electricity meter reading wrong as well I had to be hold on call for hours to try to get them resolved! Such a pain! There was dust under the sofa, and the windows weren't clean. The floor was sticky and although generally clean, I am sure there were hairs if one were to look. Perhaps they can provide a picture of under the sofa and the windows to see a before and after, including the insides of every drawer. Soon after moving in we scanned our passports in the office, then we were contacted to come and scan our passports. I said we already have. Eventually Northwood accepted they already had our passport scans. One of the employees (also I believe 'Mo') turned up at the door and tried to get in. He said he was here to do a normal property check. I said that's fine, but not right now, because I was working from home. I just asked him to contact us in advance. He said he had contacted us in advance and wanted to come in. I said I didn't see any email. He said "he definitely had", again quite rudely essentially calling me a liar, so I asked did he receive a reply? He didn't answer. I then checked all my email and there was no email. I sent an email to Northwood and Mo to say this and to let me know about the next inspection. No apology, no proof of email from Northwood. Quite rude. The elevator in our building was broken for approximately 3 months (could be longer now). We did raise this with Northwood, but didn't hear anything back. Why was nothing done? So 1, 2, 4, and 5 are all Northwood Lettings or inventory clerk errors in the space of about 6 months. Number 6 is actually the biggest issue for me. That was not only extremely inconvenient every day, it also cost us approximately £100 or more extra costs in moving because the delivery men had to go up and down 4 flights of stairs with each box which obviously takes longer. So given that you want to ask for extra money to clean a hair in a drawer or some minor dust under a sofa, I would like to know what compensation they will be providing for the fact that the lift didn't work for all those months? It is part of the service fee and is why we paid the rent we did. So we should receive some compensation for: that service was not provided for months but was paid for in the rent we had to pay extra for removal costs due to it. Perhaps there should have been more focus into looking after the tenants and making less mistakes over the tenancy than there has been on this hair in the drawer or whatever else. I'd also like to add that the flat was clean when we vacated it, and if there is any hair anywhere, it may well have been from the inventory clerk, or perhaps someone else was in the property. Either way, we will refuse any deduction from deposit and raise a dispute unless we can reach satisfactory agreement.

United Kingdom | 10 September 2021I have complained against the Northwood Estate Agency on 568 Mansfield Road, Sherwood, Nottingham, NG5 2FS for the following reasons: I have rented a property with them and when I was present on the 16th of August 2021 to check the inventory with the Northwood representative Mr. Paul Gill arrived about more than 30 minutes late and he did not apologise for his lateness and I was obliged to wait for him. During the inspection, I explained to Mr. Gill the house had a leak that Northwood only fixed after we sent them two emails asking for a solution. This leak caused mould on the wall that ruined our wardrobe; I showed him the pictures. I was sneezing due to the mould but Mr. Gill just said it is my obligation to clean the mould caused by the leak without any apologise again. At the end of the inspection of the property, I asked Mr. Paul about the next steps but he ignored me completely saying that he would check everything with my husband. I insisted that I am a part of the contract but he refused to let me know. I waited for him to send some information without success and I have sent to Northwood Estate Agency an email saying he refused to explain to me the next steps on 20th August. On 24th August Mr. Gill sent an email to my husband without giving me a copy ignoring again that I am a part of the contract. I have sent an email to the Northwood head office without much success. Mr. Paul Gill is a prejudiced person who will discriminate against you because of your gender, nationality. He is definitely not professional. He is also very rude, he always wants to take advantage of you and he will not treat you with due respect. I am really impressed that in a country like the UK the kind of person like Mr. Paul Gill still has space and support in the society to have this kind of behavior. I really recommend that if you are doing something with them do not have an expectation you will be treated with due respect.

United Kingdom | 18 August 2021Northwood Aberdeen. I rented a one-bedroom flat for 3 months, the balcony had no protection and it took them almost 2 months to send someone to install cheap lumber there. When I decided to leave they charged me for everything and they want to return only 35% of my deposit. They charged me 50 for the string to pull up the curtain (seriously?), AND 50 for painting the wall (I peeled the paint off when I remove my painting) and the kitchen, and it goes on and on. I lived there for 3 months and they cleaned as if I had lived for 1 year. My deposit is in dispute and I will not give them the pleasure of keeping my money just because they inflated the costs.

United Kingdom | 07 August 2021My partner and I applied for a house. Sent everything they asked for, matched their requirements on the application form, told them I also have a student loan on top of my job and also we do have a homeowner guarantor which they seemed to forget later on and said ‘you need a guarantor for us to consider your student loan’ when yes, we have one, have stated this several times, it’s included in the application form. They didn’t even look at our application for a week after we sent it, we had to call to ask if they’d definitely got it, could barely ever get through, always on a break/another call or ‘Ruth doesn’t do applications in the morning’, barely ever available, told me on several occasions I’d get a call back, she didn’t bother, I’d have to keep calling, they messed us around for a month taking forever to process the application, didn’t even bother to request a work reference until 3 weeks after we applied and then literally 2 days later, was saying ‘we’re still waiting on your work reference and we’ve just received another application’. First of all, why are you accepting another application when we’ve already completed ours and have been waiting 3 weeks for you to process it. I found out my work did send a reference on time, they just pretended not to have received it because they were using us as a backup until someone better came along. (Meaning someone older, I feel as though we were discriminated against due to our ages even though we both have jobs, make more than 3x the annual income and have never missed a payment in our lives.) We even offered to pay the entire tenancy upfront because she lied and pretended she had no work reference, she told us that we could do this, couldn’t get through to her for days afterwards then when my partner refused to wait for a callback that would never happen and asked to stay on the line, she instantly became available and said she’s given it to the other application. We had to call her like 10x to get that information. We applied for it a month ago and told her that we wanted it for August 1st, she didn’t even receive another application until after our desired move in date and left us hanging. We put all of our eggs in this basket and now my cat & I will be homeless in a few days when my current tenancy ends. Going to have to see if a family member will take us in whilst we try find somewhere else but where will all of my things go? Avoid this company at all costs, landlords too! You’ll be waiting months for a tenant if you go with these because they don’t bother to get off their lazy arses and process applications swiftly and are always on breaks. You’re losing money if you go with them.

United Kingdom | 05 August 2021The worst agency I have ever been with. They lie about the flat, the inventory and try to scam me of money at the end. I had to leave the flat after 1 month, thats how bad they are. Also had to call the Citizen Service Bureau about them. Extremely bad services unhelpful and unwilling to take any responsibility of their faults. Not the award winning experience, all lies, DO NOT GO WITH THEM!

Sri Lanka | 30 July 2021Checking out was a nightmare. Tried to charge me to replace stuff when the flat never came with them in the first place. Takes ages to respond to e-mail. There are no individual e-mail addresses (just a general one - At least in Northwood Aberdeen) and it makes it harder to communicate. There were times where my e-mails were ignored even. Would not recommend to anyone.

United Kingdom | 27 July 2021Doesn't even deserve 1 star. Rented a house last year from the Heswall branch. It has put us off renting forever. A hole in the living room wall ignored, various other maintenance incidents removed without discussion, poor communication, took ages to fix electrical issue and forged paperwork (date of initial inspection incorrect) - probably because new law states they have to fix within set period of time. Tried to fob us off by saying it was when the decision was made, however we are not stupid. We improved the property by painting the blue hall a more neutral colour and changed the orange carpet similarly. Asked for a contribution after terrible service forced us to leave. We were told this had never even approved by the landlord (we received paperwork approving the work). We were granted permission to have a cat, then this was retracted. We were informed by a friend of the landlord that he had a special arrangement where he pays more for a 'no fuss' agreement. They regularly blamed the landlord for being slow to approve things and suggested he was difficult. Hard to know what to believe. The Director Joanne and husband seemed reasonable when we met and spoke to them, as did most of the other team. I just cannot fully put into words how horrendous this agent is from a renters perspective. Not really sure why we didn't deserve basic and decent customer service.

United Kingdom | 10 July 2021Should have had a viewing at 3.00pm today with the West Derby branch in Liverpool. Waited over one hour and no one showed up; no call and no apology. What a dreadful company. I am living 260 miles away and have to rely on the goodwill of family to do viewings for me. This has put me into a really embarrassing situation and I won't like asking in future. I wonder if the vendors are aware that Northwood are losing them potential buyers? Don't use or trust them

Germany | 05 July 2021Had dealings with these people (Leicester branch) a few years ago.Did the guaranteed rental. No problems with payment however the property inspections were clearly non existent. My property required full redecoration after I took it back.Shady, dulipitous characters.Avoid.
