The car was in great conditions, bed, kitchen, everything worked perfectly. And the check in process was easy, staff in the Auckland place were very nice and helpful! Would definetly reccommend :)

The car was far too old.

Could improve on airport pickups, maybe every half hourly or a call to collect system as we had to wait an hour and 15 mins for collection. Van was an upgrade from what I had initially ordered which was great except you except you have to fold bed away when you are driving and the inside windows were very dirty which we cleaned ourselves as vision was cloudy. Staff were friendly and drop off was easy. Would be easier if road tolls were included like every other rental camper we have used. Would consider using them again, overall a good van and good service. Thankyou!

Old, run down vehicles are rented on highest prices. Value does not match the price you pay. The coin matters, not the customer. Customer service experience low I got a different car than booked, less valuable, but charged the high price! There are better options to rent in NewZealand than Lucky!

Despite what a lot of the reviews say, we had an excellent experience with lucky rentals Christchurch. The checking in and receiving of the van was super quick and easy, the campervan was perfect, it was clean, in good condition and didn’t give us any trouble for the full 2 weeks. The only reason I have given 4/5 was due to their high admin fees for fines.

Good service, backup when things went wrong and at a good price

My experience wasn't entirely satisfactory. From the beginning, when I rented the car, it was stated that chairs and linens were included. However, upon arrival, I was charged extra for them. They also failed to mention in advance that a special permit was required to drive, an official translation of the license, which is an additional process that requires payment. Furthermore, they did not provide information about where camping is permitted or prohibited. It would be helpful to offer basic information for those renting a caravan for the first time. As for the car itself, it was quite old, but it didn't have any issues. Finally, on the day I returned the car at the time they requested, I was informed that the airport shuttle was no longer operating at that hour, so I had to arrange an Uber on my own.

Was not told that the last shuttle went to the airport at 3pm. My return time was 4.30pm. When I got to the rental place which is in the middle of nowhere my phone was flat and so could not call a taxi. So no way of going to airport. Asked to charge phone for 5 mins. Told no. So got locked outside gates as a single female not knowing where to go to even get a bus ( asked them but told they didn't know). Asked them if I could use the car I had to the bus stop and could they drive it back. Told no. Totally unacceptable to leave a single female in an industrial area at night without any means of finding transport to the airport. Also told when I rented the car that a gas canister was provided for cooking. I got to the campground on Christmas Eve to find no way of cooking food as the canister was empty. Totally ruined the holiday as no way to buy another.

My recent camper van rental with Lucky Rentals was deeply unsatisfactory and plagued by significant safety and reliability issues. The van’s handbrake was alarmingly loose, making parking hazardous. Even worse, the normal brakes were dangerously sluggish, making it difficult to judge stopping distances, particularly in traffic. These brake issues led to several close calls during our trip, which was incredibly stressful. Mechanical problems didn’t stop there. The rear right wheel began making strange noises early on, worsening over the journey and leaving us concerned about a potential breakdown. The van also struggled to handle inclines, often requiring the engine to max out the revs, which raised fears of overheating. Additionally, the vehicle was severely affected by gusty winds, making driving precarious. We were not adequately informed about this potential hazard, which added to our challenges. The van’s interior condition was far below expectations. Storage pockets were literally held together with safety pins, giving the impression of poor maintenance. To top it off, the radio’s AUX function was temperamental and unreliable, detracting from the overall experience. These issues not only spoiled our trip but also posed genuine safety risks. Given the van’s condition and the stress it caused, I believe a refund is warranted. Lucky Rentals’ lack of quality control and failure to provide a reliable vehicle significantly impacted what was meant to be an enjoyable road trip. I cannot recommend their services based on this experience.

We didn't like, that we recieved a Van that wasn't cleanded properli or had clean cuttlery and crockery. however, after our Complaint they changed and cleand what we asked them to do. They also forgot to give us two sets of linen for the trip that we asked them to. Also they gave it to us the day after we piced up the van. When we had an insident with the Van they where helpful and helped us to sort out the Van in a for us acceptible time. Wile driving parts of the back door came loose and fell down - so that we had to use duck tape to fix it on the door. Also the back door was from start to end only very difficult to open from outside. We usely had to use the side door to open the rear door from the inside. Was at times frustrating. Wile driving steep hills down the breakes started smelling. Just left us with some unease. I certainly would next time try to book much earlier so that we would of had a better option for our campervan.
