Our little car rental company has received very professional service and thorough handling of our insurance needs for years.

United States | 29 September 2022The agent lied to us about some new rule that he claimed had just come in preventing renewal of our policy. He then quoted a new policy at double the cost. He did the same to our friends two weeks earlier, when he was still promising us that renewal would be no problem. He lied. Novamar replied that they are not at fault because the new legislation is a fact and, being a broker, they don't control insurance rates. True, but he (Alexande Ros, Executive Producer, Marine Department, Novamar) lied to create a timing crisis. In the weeks before our policy renewal date, I repeatedly asked him to send the new policy. He assured me there was no need and that the renewal would be no problem. Four days after our old policy expired, he sent an email beginning with this: "With great lament, I have to inform you of some very bad last minute news I just received this morning in regards to your International coverage for your vessel and the renewal I have been working very hard on getting processed for you." He informed us of the new law and said he had another policy that could cover us. It was twice the cost of the previous policy. I talked to another cruiser who had received an identical email from the same broker TWO WEEKS EARLER. It also said "With great lament, I have to inform you of some very bad last minute news I just received this morning..." The same news, "just this morning" two weeks earlier??? And during those two weeks, he continued to assure us that there would be no problem renewing. Obviously he knew that to be untrue. I believe he was stringing us along to create a timing crisis because he felt we were less likely to look at other brokers if there was no time. He lied. ************************ Since I can't reply to your reply, I will edit my initial post. In your reply, you claim the agent was trying to find a solution and was notified at the very end that the regulation changed. That is NOT TRUE. He sent the same letter to a friend WEEKS EARLIER saying he had just learned of the regulation change that day. Yet he continued to tell us our policy would be renewed until a couple weeks later he claimed to have learned just that day of the change. Clearly he knew about the change weeks earlier but would not tell us until after our policy had expired. He lied. No other way to put it.

Mexico | 29 September 2022What a terrible experience with MAPFRE. I have a commercial building insured with them. when paying my renewal premium I could not use my American credit card, so I had to use my Mexican bank debit card. After osying the bill I continued getting notices from Novamar to pay the premium, then I got requests to send copies of the payment receipt. I became confused and aid the premium a second time. MAPFRE is so lame that they allowed me to pay the invoice a second time. after realizing my mistake, I asked for a refund and was confronted with a list of documents I needed to provide to get s refund. I have notified my agent not to renew with MAPFRE next year and I sm thinking about dropping Novamar. If you are going to put me with such a difficult to deal with Cartier, maybe I should look for a new agent.

Canada | 29 September 2022I needed insurance for my motorcycle in Mexico and Novamar was quick to respond with a competitive quote. Although they were slightly more expensive than the least expensive quote from another company, the research I did revealed Novamar is the best to deal with in the event I need to make an insurance claim. For me, this was more important than saving a few dollars.

Canada | 29 September 2022Every year when our auto policies are due we get a notice of renewal and every year I have to call and say I’m not agreeing to a new policy until I know the details and cost. Every year I have to follow up and every year there is an error or more on the policy. When our policies are due for renewal I would like to see the details on the notice of renewal. The Date of Experience (below) does not provide for Every Year. Additional Comment. I received the new automated renewal advice notice but it only confirms the coverage I have in the current year and current premium. It does not provide me with the renewal premium and advice on any changes to the policy. I have requested that info.

Canada | 29 September 2022The process to set up the Insurance was very quick and pleasant. This was not the case with a claim I put in for an unexpected broken tooth. It is now 9 months ago I put the claim in and have not yet had a result in payment for the claim. The Agent in PV who has been very helpful has tried and tried to get some action from the Head Office but they keep claiming they are missing information. Still trying to get this settled to our satisfaction.
