I have used horsepower in Tonbridge for ten years and through 3 cars . But this year they have disappointed me greatly. I put my car in as it was throwing up a fault light so I needed it checked with diagnostics to see what the issue was. They came back with a list of errors that needed fixing and a price of over £610 to do the work ( parts labour and vat). As I’d only had the car 3 months I phoned the garage I brought the car from. They quoted me £240 inc part labour and vat to fix the car and couldn’t understand why horsepower were quoting so much ! I then phoned another local Tonbridge garage for a quote and they quoted me £260 to do the job. Both these garages were established reputable garages and did not know any of the other prices I’d been quoted . I phoned horsepower to ask them why their quote was so high ! And to explain where they got their figure from. The man in the service dept said they often quote for more labour hours so they don’t get caught out for anything more time consuming. That said I asked him to look into and let me know exactly where they came up with their quote which was nearly 3 times two other garages ! ? Needless to say no one ever called back to give me a reply , I have always used horsepower but it makes me question if all along I’ve been being ripped off to maintain the expensive showroom. Never again I’m Afraid . Note. After reading response from horsepower it seems funny that only after putting my point on here has anyone got back to me, and I’m sorry but when has any garage charged less than the quote given prior to agreeing to the work . It seems to be that hp have been caught out massively over charging , the other quotes were not for inferior parts ! They were for new parts plus labour ( half the hours you were quoting to do the job) plus vat.

Through searching the web, I found a vehicle at Horsepower Motor. I expressed interest and Peter quickly responded that it is still available for purchase. I phoned him made arrangements to come view a BMW X1. I am old school and like to "kick the tyres" before making a purchase. I did the deal, which was mostly done online and collected my car the following week. I am very happy with my purchase. I would like to thank Peter and everyone else involved with the purchase of my car at Horsepower Motor.

Overall superb experience! Having not purchased a car for over 20 years (in company car schemes) I was apprehensive about spending a reasonable amount of money on an older car. Peter at Horsepower was excellent, kind and considerate throughout from my initial visit to view, to addressing questions and any issues. Discussing areas which needed addressing prior to purchase gave , me great confidence and everything that we discussed upfront, Peter took care of prior to collection on the day. On the day, the car was in pristine condition and had clearly been valeted and cleaned throughout. All items of paperwork were in place including the service history and all books. Peter had even sorted out the DVLA bits in readiness for the handover of ownership. I have had the car for a week now and am absolutely delighted with the purchase which was, in my opinion, at a very competitive price. In terms of after sales Peter came across as 100% genuine in terms of any issues and that whilst I had purchased the AA Warranty, he would be happy to assist in the event of any problems. Overall I have been extremely pleased with the overall service from Horsepower as a Car Dealership and would recommend to others as a decent and honest company going forward. Andy - Burgess Hill

Like most people , I had a misconception about ‘Car Dealers’ .. However when I went down to Tonbridge and met Danny and the team at horsepower I was welcomed with nothing but good honest advice. Being totally clueless about cars I was slightly hesitant about jumping into a large purchase without guidance, however Danny sorted my warranty with the AA and made sure that I was 100% confident driving the new car away. 10/10 would recommend for a genuinely lovely person , with ultimate customer service

Excellent service

Very efficient setup, the sales side is backed up by on-site servicing and MOT facilities. We bought a used Corsa which was fully serviced and valeted and given an MOT test. The reservation process was very simple and the team at HPMC answered all queries promptly. The sales office is a big open space so good for social distancing during the final transactions. Overall a straightforward experience.
