United States | 22 October 2020Overall very good and I would definitely recommend PennyMac to others. Due to so many now doing ReFi's it took a bit longer than anticipated, but everyone was especially helpful. Michael Kramer, our 1st contact person, was the best and easy to work with. Pache' was very helpful too.

United States | 20 October 2020Currently in the process of refinancing our loan and if you are able to go elsewhere, do it. We chose PennyMAC because they are our current mortgage holder and they had the best refi rates. During the application process, they couldn’t have been more helpful. I even received weekly updates that “things were moving along and we’re right on schedule.” However a week before our estimated closing date, I got the usual “we’re right on schedule,” but when I brought up that we should closing and shouldn’t we be setting up a time to sign docs, our loan officer said “oops, your loan is stalled and not sure why.” Now, we are well over 60 days since my application has been filed and 3 weeks after my original estimated closing date. It seems every week I call for an update now, my loan is stalled at every stage. We have already extended my rate lock twice. There is a huge discrepancy between what the online status says and what the loan officer says. I can’t get a hold of anyone other than the loan officer because my calls keep getting redirected to her line even though I’ve explicitly asked to be transferred to someone else. I’ve even attempted calling her supervisor, but she has not answered any of my calls nor has she called me back. This process has been extremely frustrating and I am deeply regretting refinancing with them.

United States | 18 October 2020In July of 2020 we decided to research refinance . We could lower our rate by 2% and it seemed worth it. When asking Penny MAC if they would lower our rate they couldn’t get on that fast enough. We sent in and answered every request ASAP. We received many letters with dates stating our loan payoff price. We are just refinancing the exact same property that PennyMac carries the loan for right now, just at a 2% lesser rate. Weeks go by with no word. No one will answer our emails at this point. After reading other reviews we just paid the mortgage payment for October that they told us not to pay because refinancing should be no more than a couple weeks. After reading other reviews we don’t want our credit rating messed up with the instructions they gave us. We are about to call for some legal assistance to try to get some real answers. Our son sold and bought and new home and all if his financing was done in less than one month. Something is terrible wrong with PennyMac!!!!

United States | 17 October 2020Recently refinanced and got PennyMac as my lender. I'll be refinancing again to get rid of PennyMac. PennyMac has zero clue what customer service means, I'm a bit surprised they are in business. I've had to call one time, one time was enough for me to make a decision this is not a good lender. I'd rather lose my house than pay these crooks one more payment.

United States | 17 October 2020Anxious about refinancing our home, we were amazed at how easy PennyMac made everything. Every person on the team, from the first phone call to the final congratulations, kept us informed about every aspect of the process. We are very pleased with and grateful to PennyMac for providing a spectacular refinance experience. It began with a Saturday morning web inquiry. Two hours later, a PennyMac team member was talking me through the official start and 3 weeks later done. Rate -1.25% Outstanding!

United States | 15 October 2020I have been a customer for 4 years without complaint until we tried to do a refi. We applied May 3rd. It has now been 166 days, more than 50 phone calls, countless emails, a ruined credit score, lost deposit for work on house that required close on loan....and zero response by them. We were originally told we would close by the end of June, latest. In the space of that time, our payment went up (July) due to escrow account deficit. We were told to not up payment, they'd forgive and we'd close before then anyway. Well we didn't pay extra and loan did not close by then, we were $60 short on payment of $2,149 and got shown as a missed payment, then a late payment. Credit scores dropped 100 points. Every time we called they could only tell us what department it was in (credit review, underwriting). We needed a subordination agreement on a solar loan that we were going to pay off. That was also cited as a reason loan was delayed. I called the credit union that had that loan, after they said they were still waiting (60 days) and was told there had never been any contact nor a request, they apologized that their turnaround time was 48 hours! So Pennymac had never even sent the request - after 60 days of telling us they were waiting on credit union. I was continually told that they were just very busy. I called customer service about late payment, and spent two hours on the phone with an incredibly nice woman who did not have the ability to address it but did her best, and sent our request to escalate to the credit review department. Our file was marked 'Escalate' per the various people we spoke to, for more than 100 days. But it never got escalated, and I have no idea why there was such an Epic fail. So they've cost us money, our credit scores and countless hours on the phone, writing emails, and now attorney fees. Proceed at your own risk. Note: We applied with another lender three weeks ago, and will be closing this week. Should have done this MONTHS ago.

United States | 14 October 2020Not happy at all will be refinancing. I was at the beach for 6 weeks just to get a break and they sent out some letter informing that they were increasing my mortgage since I pay everything online I told the person not to send because it’s just a statement. Paid my mortgage on time online as usual. When I returned home the were nasty letters in my mailbox stating they were reporting this to the credit bureaus and starting foreclosure proceeding over a $134 short pay for one month. When I called I got the rudest person on the phone who proceeded to yell at me about not paying my mortgage. They are unprofessional and have horrible customer service. Karma that’s all I have to say to them.
