United States | 08 October 2020I refinanced my mortgage a little over a year ago, and it was the worst decision of my life because PennyMac holds my loan now. Ever since then, I have had trouble making my mortgage payments every single month. My auto pay has been cancelled every single time and instead of informing me via email like any modern company would do, they sent me a letter in the mail a week after my payment was due. I have contacted customer service multiple times, and they were unable to fix the issue, and on top of that they were patronizing while walking me through the troubleshooting. I would rather refinance again than bother trying to get PennyMac's janky website to work.

United States | 29 September 2020I already had a mortgage through Penny Mac, and I started my refi with the same company. I was happy I did. They called right after I applied for refinancing online, and we discussed the interest rate based on my credit score. They told me it would be accessible to refi with them, and you won't need to do this or provide this. While on the phone, they pulled my credit score, and it was a 1.50 lower rate than my previous interest rate. I told them to go ahead and refi. But then in two weeks, they only needed one document information, which I did not complain about. Penny Mac was fantastic. Penny Mac has been straightforward to deal with, and I couldn't be happier. Thank you very much for your excellent service and make this title transfer of the refinance mortgage smoothly on time.

United States | 29 September 2020When shopping for a refinance I was persuaded to give Pennymac the chance to keep my business by one of their loan originators, Tramell Nash. I stuck with them being assured a "much faster" process by Tramell Nash and was given an appraisal waiver. After 11 weeks of multiple duplicate requests for documents, zero communication, blatant ignoring of my emails regarding status of my loan and requests to speak to a Supervisor, I received a denial letter on the day I was to close my loan (9/1/20) with no warning. I demanded an explanation from a Supervisor, Craig Wood, who was rude and blatantly lied to me in an attempt to sweep their malicious mission under the rug stating that I "overstated my income" and that was the reason for denial. I knew that to be false and upon moving up the chain of command with my complaint, who were just as incompetent and slimy, Mr. Wood's Supervisor, Teresa Henry, later admitted that the false denial was due to a gross error and negligence on the part of "a trainee" employee, Caprecia Campbell-Alexis, who was falsely titled a Loan Processor and was handling my loan. This conversation was recorded, with Ms. Henry's acknowledgement and permission. Later, Mr. Wood also admitted the error that I was never made aware of over the course of 10 weeks but told me to REAPPLY! Reapply?? After almost 12 weeks of your admitted error and basically doing nothing with my file, costing me money by the day? The third chain of command up the ladder, Ms. Teresa Henry, vowed to resolve the matter and get things back on track. But then I was told that they would now require an appraisal be done and months more to closing. I asked Ms. Henry who would be reimbursing for the additional months to closing. She was supposed to update me with an answer on 9/14/20 and was never heard from again. Pennymac offered nothing even after being escalated to the priority complaint department but to continue "processing" the refinance and "waiving" the origination fee and the now required appraisal fee. I assume now that the newly required appraisal was just another attempt to falsely deny the loan by assigning a false, low value to our home. We have an appraisal in hand from May 2020 and know for a fact what the home is worth. They refused to make up for the additional months of interest I was supposed to be free from effective 9/1/20 or even match the lower rate offered by the other company. After giving them reasonable opportunities to make us only half-whole, it is clear that Pennymac only wanted to keep me locked in at a 5% interest rate since they already had me there. They attempted to accomplish this by issuing false denials and keeping me from other lenders for as long as possible. They are predatory to say the least. I would have saved $782 a month on this refinance. Pennymac is shady. Tramell Nash, Caprecia Campbell-Alexis, Craig Wood, Teresa Henry, and Trisha Morris as well as all the corporate officers who ignored my pleas to rectify the situation. If they were genuinely concerned about a quality control issue with their employees, they would have addressed it appropriately and made it right. But alas, they did not, which suggests that the priority complaint department is simply their last attempt to silence consumers. The priority complaint "specialist" is not allowed to correspond via email and will not agree to a recorded conversation. That tells you something. I have a slew of evidence which will now be handed to the appropriate parties this week once edited and perfectly compiled in chronological order. Unfortunately for Pennymac I have perseverance and tenacity (and pro bono) to bring truth to light. "No triumph is realized without pains taken to get there." -Washington User's recommendation: Stay away! If you are a current PM mortgagor, refinance elsewhere.

United States | 28 September 2020Very positive experience. In spite of the challenges imposed by COVID and the large number of loan requests due to rate changes, the MAC Team did a great job of answering questions and getting us closed on time.

Australia | 23 September 2020I have hated every second of the three years Pennymac has owned my home loan (I did not choose them). From their abysmal telephone support, where it is often impossible to reach a human and can include greater than an hour hold times with the same 10 seconds of music on loop, to if you do get someone to pick up 2/3 of the time they tell you the problem is fixed but it isn't.

United States | 20 September 2020I called Pennymac to refinance the existing loan I have with them for my home. I was set up the loan officer Jimmy Kim. I informed him that I have a VA home loan and I am a disabled veteran so I have no funding fee. The new rate reductions allow me to get a 2.25 interest rate. He was really nice at first and told me it would cost $8000 to refinance my house for a loan of $389,000. Then after running my credit he called back and told me that my transunion credit score is 650 so it would cause me $12,000 to refinance and the interest rate would be 2.45. I called him back to tell him that there is a fraudulent report on my Transunion report and they are removing it. I asked if he can use any other credit reporting agency and he told me that Pennymac only uses Tranunion. He harassed me on the phone when I said I'll wait until my credit score is fixed. He then offered to give me $4000.00 credit for refinancing. When I called him back to ask more questions he got really upset and yelled at me about why I am asking him more questions and not signing the documents when he did me the favor of giving me a $4000 credit. Luckily my friend heard this conversation and yelled at Jimmy for me and hung up on him. Jimmy harrased me on the phone and was telling at me. I called Pennymac and asked for his supervisor to call me back and they had Jimmy call me bavk. I found and other lender who charged me $4000 in refinancing fees with a 2.25 interest rate. I learned that the lenders can run my score with all three credit agencies and use the middle score. I also learned that since I had a great credit score, I should have only been charged 1% (1 point) of the loan for refinancing and Jimmy/Pennymac was charging me 2 points and ripping me off to begin with even when they quoted me prior to running my credit. I will never use Pennymac loan services and I also learned a valuable lesson... get multiple quotes and when a loan officer like Jimmy is desperate and calls you to yell and harrass you... they want to hurry up and trap you into an unfair loan.

United States | 20 September 2020I am a PennyMac customer. I tried to reach a customer service rep. None of the options included the reason I was calling. No way to reach a human. The options they offered lead to a digital response.

United States | 17 September 2020This is the by far the WORST WORST WORST mortgage company!!! DO NOT EVER use this mortgage company and DO NOT let your mortgage officer use them. It took them a month to receive my first payment. I was told I had to make a payment to avoid late charges. The customer service rep stated that I would NOT be double charged. I was double charged and have a 100 dollars in fees from overdraft and stop checks. Customer Service reps were beyond awful to work with. Worst company ever.

United States | 17 September 2020We refinanced with PennyMac once before for a better interest rate and they made the process go so smoothly and easy, we decided to go with them again when we refinanced a second time for an even lower interest rate. I'd recommend them to anyone and everyone. Especially Veterans!

United States | 16 September 2020This is the first time I've ever had to worry about my mortgage payments being applied correctly. I set up bi-weekly payments with an extra principal payment. Later I made a principal only payment. I should of seen principal reduce by $2.9k but it only went down $1.9k. My transaction history showed a bi-weekly payment, principal payment, a mystery full months payment, a mystery principal payment and an adjustment to eliminate the mystery payments. What a mess. After a phone call I was told the transactions would be reduced and the principal amount would be corrected. However, I have to wait a "few days" and then check to make sure they did their job. Really scary that the website cannot apply payments correctly. If they are servicing your loan then I would suggest you do the QA and check to make sure your payments are applied correctly.

United States | 15 September 2020As a loan servicer they are the worst I've used in my entire life and I'm 60. First, they failed to pay the yearly taxes out of escrow. Took them 3 weeks to finally accomplish that.

United States | 01 September 2020Do not use this company. They have long wait times constantly, they hold extra payments in a suspense account until you make enough for a full payment instead of applying it to principal and make it extremely hard to deal with insurance claims on your property.

United States | 29 August 2020Paid my loan on time for over 7 years. Called many times about removing my pmi. Each time I got the same answer until the last which the guy said something completely different and wouldn't be removing. After doing right by them they lied to me. I refinanced to a much better rate and shorter term for the same payment Avoid these liars at all cost
