Our loan was sold to PM after the first payment was made. No issues at all until we decided to refinance. We have a jumbo VA loan, we chose a VA IRRRL. With an IRRRL, VA regulations state you must recoup all fees within 36 months. PM quoted me $19,517 in closing costs, with a recoup time of 39 months, which I questioned, and never really got a clear answer. The points they were charging were .607%, which seemed like an odd amount. I later realized that's what got them to the maximum allowed by the VA. After getting off the phone with PennyMac, my husband I thought there had to be a better option. We found out through Costco we could get the same interest rate and pay no fees at all. So I called PM and told them to cancel the process, I found a better offer. Our loan specialist, said they valued our business, and to retain it, they would match the offer, just forward it to him. So I emailed it to him, and two days later he tells me that he needs a second page of the offer that I didn't send to him. Well by this time, the application has expired from that lender, and I could no longer access it online. But somehow I he probably knew that, and it's probably why he waited two days to respond. So I applied with another bank, got another offer, and sent that him. Again, it's not good enough, because there's no rate lock on that offer. Well, to lock the rate, I have to pay a fee and get the process started with that bank. And if I'm going to start paying fees with other banks, why would I continue with PM, just to get the same offer? So I emailed PM, no thank you, cancel my application, I will pay the fee at the other lender and move my loan. I got no response from PM. Two days later, I get an email from the PennyMac loan team telling me they have denied my loan due to an incomplete application. I believe I canceled, you didn't deny me...later that day, my mortgage payment, that is on auto pay, comes out of my bank account twice. Coincidence? Thankfully, this did not cause any major chaos. The second payment was put back the following day, no apologies on PennyMac's end. I will be leaving PennyMac in about 30 days. Our closing costs at the other lender are $6,615, which includes .5%, unavoidable, VA funding fee, prepaid interest, etc.. Had we not done some homework, PM would have cheated us out of $13,000.

Absolutely horrible our loan was sold to them and they keep raising our payment each month. Tried to get financed to purchase a new home through them, spent hours on the phone with them and then the guy wouldn’t even listen to what I was saying.

If I could give Penny Mac negative stars I would, ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! Our loan was sold to them before the first payment was due when we purchased our home. For awhile we had no issues, then in fall of 2019 , nothing but freaking issues. Our bank since third payment every month I can track it every time I have documentation proving that we’ve made payments. Guess what when they did a software update or something of that in the fall of 2019 it f**ked up everyone’s mortgage. Even during this lovely COVID-19 pandemic we are one of the few and we are fortunate enough to be able to make our mortgage payment . Once again I am getting letters from Penny Mac your loss mitigation, absolute liars I have proof. On top of that the envelopes that these are being sent out in have a green little band at the top that says certified, certified mail you have to sign for it I looked at December loops these are pre-printed with ink on certified they’re trying to use these envelopes as a scare tactic if I have to I will take them to court. Avoid them at all cost !

They purchased my loan from my original lender and I have had nothing but issues with them so far. Their website is down now and as far as registering i had nothing but issues. I put in my password to access my account 10 minutes after setting it up and it said i had the wrong password. Very stressful. Stay away from these people find a real bank. I had no choice or I would have.

Ok So After working with Pennymac managers they reviewed my account realized that that my credit was really good and worked with me and it is looking like I am going to get a really fair deal on my IRRL VA refinance.

Worst mortgage company I have ever dealt with. They Called and claimed they are debt collector when I am up to date on my payment. They should have checked before they called! Leslie and supervisor James have no clue what they are doing. All they do is lie to you in your face and then say sorry. Do not recommend this company and never again will use them !!!!

I began the refinance process the 1st week of June and still no closing date I am being told that it is pending underwriter with a review. I have other things to do with my credit And the best answer they can give me is it's in the works. I realize there is a backlog for refinance and purchases But this is becoming way too long. I would advise to find a different company.

PennyMac is the WORST mortgage company to ever services homeowners and Veterans. PennyMac took over our mortgage from BOA while my husband a disabled Veteran was in bankruptcy because he used all our savings and monthly income to BURY my mother. So when he got done with his 100% payback bankruptcy meaning he paid every debt back to the last dollar. They wanted to tell us that we were behind on our mortgage when they got more money then they filed for in the courts first of all. Second of all after his bankruptcy was discharged we received paperwork that was signed by PennyMac, their attorney, the courts and my husband attorney that states that we owed them $0.00 on the bankruptcy side and on our regular mortgage side and I have send in proof after proof after proof since November 2019 then I filed a consumer complaint that was a joke and here we are August of 2020 and they are still claiming that all of our payments since my husband has been out of Bankruptcy has been late and they did not receive March until April which is a LIE. THIS IS THE WORST MORTGAGE COMPANY TO EVER BE IN EXISTENCE!!! Now we have to pay another attorney like they are not CROOKS themselves and all about money to try and help us get this worked out because PennyMac refuse too. My husband fought for this country and he is disabled because he fought and service for this country and this SLUM company is just being allowed to LIE and do as they please. If you have to have your mortgage with them I PRAY for you.

My loan was sold to PennyMac after loan modification, years later after on time payments I'm equity rich. I tried to get a cash out refinance of 9% of the equity to make some home repairs, PennyMac told me that I would have to make the repairs out of pocket, BEFORE they could move along with the cash out refinance.....that I needed to make the home repairs. Since all of my ducks were in a row, this was all they had. I'm currently seeking a new lender, even without the cash out option.

I was paid nearly $5000 by my insurance company for damages to my house during a hail storm in April. Since PennyMac Is the co-payee on my insurance check, I sent the check to the required PO # in Atlanta, GA. After hearing nothing for a month, I called the InsuranceClaimCheck.com number. I was put on hold twice for 45-60 minutes. Once I got through on the third attempt, I was immediately told there was no record of my check and it must have been lost in the mail. I am not the only one who has been told this same nonsense. I’ve contacted my State’s Attorney’s office and they are handling this issue, which seem to be a common one for PM customers. If your loan has been bought by PennyMac, I suggest you immediately refinance with a trust worthy company. You will not be dealt with honestly with this company.

I have owned my home for many years. This year in 2020 they raised my monthly mortgage payment 100 dollars. Multiple calls to their horrror show of a call center produced multiple explanations. One is that they never got the condo master from the condo owner. I provided that although the condo place is supposed to. Next explanation was that in 2013 when penny Mac acquired our loan they made 3 insurance payments, despite us already being insured with State Farm. They never notified us In 2013 or corrected this error and now have Decided to collect these three payments. But this is an error. We pay our own home insurance and we’re covered by State Farm when pennymac took it upon themselves to pay it for us,Now 7 years later we have an escrow account for that much which we are being billed for. Pennymac is forcing us to pay insurance twice. I am waiting for the proof from State Farm that we paid before I will file a complaint with the state real estate commissioner and do what I have to. No one at pennymac seems qualified to address this mistake. They just want the money they mistakenly paid for insurance we owned. But I’m not required to pay insurance twice. They added the extra insurance. Their mistake.

PennyMac has now been my mortgage company on three different occasions. The agents are highly trained, professional, and display great PR. Knowing that my information is secure at all times is an important safety measure. If I need another mortgage in the future, I will choose PennyMac.
