I was looking to support a local business rather than the online giants. At Butlers I found wonderfully helpful reviews of the wide variety of excellent wines on offer to guide my choice. My request for a note to be included in the delivery received an immediate positive and cheerful response and the wine was delivered on time with the note included, exactly as per my request. I couldn’t ask for more.

We arranged a 'virtual' wine tasting with Richard at Butlers Wine Cellar for a group of neighours and ordered our wines in advance (a selection of 'Old World' and 'New World' wines to compare). Their website is excellent, the wines are superb (range and quality you can't find in supermarkets) and the tasting evening was informative and great fun. No wonder they were awarded 'Independent Wine Merchant of the Year'. Second to none.

I reckon I have next to no palate, and often struggle to tell the difference between a bottle of plonk from Asda and a fancy bottle for £15 (I've never spent any more than that anywhere other than a restaurant.) But I'm quite happy to pay high end to guys like Dan who served me -- charming, amusing, interested, knowledgeable, promised to send me tasting notes and did ... all that, and I'm supporting a local business that's supporting its local community. Worth paying for.

Wanted a nice bottle as present for a friend's birthday who live in Brighton. I live in Ireland. Did a search of wine shops in the area and came across Butlers. I emailed them to make sure they could deliver during Lockdown. Got very prompt and helpful replies. Shopping on line was simple and delivery was made as promised. Very satisfied customer.
