United States | 05 December 2024First American Home Warranty uses contractors that are not capable of diagnosing simple problems. I had an issue with the water heater and they sent a technician who didn’t find anything wrong with the water heater, not once but twice. The last time I placed a claim, I wasn’t willing to go three days showering with cold water in December with temperature in the 20’s Fahrenheit (-6.6 C). So I decided to take a look myself. Within an hour I had identified the problem and fixed it. I called FAHW to get a refund for my service call charge, first I spoke with Valencia, who transferred me to Mario the supervisor. Neither one could help me. I will NOT be renewing my home warranty with them.

United States | 05 December 2024A home warranty from First American when home was purchased. Water heater went out on November 26, 2024, contacted First American and repair service came out on the 27. Was told that the parts needed were not in stock and it would take a few days to receive the needed parts. It is now December 4th, have had no follow up from service company and have been told that it is an additional week at minimum for parts to be received, could be until December 20th, guess you don't need hot water for three weeks. Not sure what the warranty does as we cannot take showers, wash dishes, wash clothes etc. Thought this warranty was to cover things like this not to make customers wait for weeks to resolve issue. Don't believe the Advertising statement "if an item cannot be repaired, it will be replaced."

United States | 03 December 2024First American Home Warranty: A Complete Scam I cannot emphasize enough how terrible my experience with First American Home Warranty has been. Their so-called “repair service” is nothing but a blatant attempt to avoid covering anything under their contracts, no matter how minor the issue or how clear the coverage should be. I paid $1,200 for a year-long contract, expecting peace of mind and reliable service if something went wrong. Instead, they invalidated my entire contract over $4 worth of screws. Yes, you read that right—$4 in screws. Apparently, this trivial detail was enough for them to claim the issue wasn’t covered, leaving me on the hook for the full cost of repairs. This company’s true “repair goal” is to find every possible loophole to deny claims, rather than actually provide the services they promise. Their contracts are riddled with fine print designed to protect them, not their customers. When you call customer service, you’re met with indifference and excuses instead of help. If you’re considering First American Home Warranty, save yourself the frustration and money. You’ll pay for a contract that’s essentially worthless, and when you need them most, they’ll leave you high and dry. Stay far away from this company. It’s nothing more than a money grab with zero regard for customer satisfaction or ethical business practices. Feel free to add specifics or personal touches to strengthen the impact.

United States | 03 December 2024I had to rate 1 star though FAHW does not deserve that. 7 months of monthly payments plus paid $200 for claims (on separate occasions), claims that were denied. For starters, the technician states to come at such a time 11-3. Today, I personally had to call just to find out eta. The tech came around 6pm Central, looked at the issue, then goes out to the company van to make phone call. There I am waiting for a response; never got a response as I discover the technician drove off. The courtesy, respectful thing to do was come and inform the claim is or is not covered by FAHW. Neither ever happened; I know now that claim is denied. This, after the FAHW customer rep goes over my contract coverage with me PRIOR to initiating the claim for electrical coverage days ago. 7 months of payments for claims that were not even honored is a waste of time and money!!! I will not be using FAHW ever again!! Only consolation is that it would serve them well if they (FAHW) bother to contract with companies whose technicians offer deserving customer service with explaining claim is approved or not. Simply driving off without explaining to customer is outrageously just bad customer service.

United States | 03 December 2024The primary reason I kept this warranty was to cover the most expensive systems in the home - primarily HVAC. Turns out when you need an HVAC fix, it is probably the most difficult, and drawn out process you will ever go through. The first time I called about a leak in the condensation line pipe insulation. Was it simply deteriorated wrap because it was 20 years old, or was there a refrigerant leak icing up the line somehow? The first tech said he didn't have the equipment to diagnose, 2 days later a second tech was dispatched. That tech used a leak detector and found nothing, but topped off the refrigerant (cheapest, easiest way to keep the peace). I asked about the wrap, and guess what - the home warranty doesn't cover the cheapest of cheap fixes. Next some months later, the furnace blower motor died. Expected, as it is an aging system and the reason why I kept the home warranty for 6 years. They dispatched a tech ($100), the tech confirms the blower motor is dead. He then says he doesn't know if the warranty would cover it because the cage around the blower had dust on it and you're supposed to see metal. He leaves and says the warranty company will be in touch. The home warranty company emails later that day and says it will be covered, but I will need to pay another ($400) out of pocket. I called a local HVAC company that's been in business for more than 50 years, and is highly rated. They came out and verified the blower motor was dead, but upon sticking a mirror inside, we saw the heat exchanger cracked, and the furnace had to be condemned - gas shut off, and cannot run for risk of carbon monoxide leaking into the house. So not only did the home warranty NOT cover the cost of the part + install. They were going to approve a repair that could have been fatal to my family. Beware of purchasing their top tier plan, it will not cover what you hope it will, and those monthly payments might be better off going into a savings account.

United States | 03 December 2024I am very disappointed by the lack of service of first American. Our wine cooler fridge has been out since the 17 of October. Their initial response was prompt and the contractor diagnose the problem quickly. Since then after multiple calls and follow they 1) lost the part… then 2) send the wrong part… I am stuck in between the contractor and first American since they don’t seems to talk to each other. Ticket # 314176832. I am questioning if I need to renew. Trying to escalate now.
