United States | 19 November 2024Worst experience with this company, will never trust another Home Warranty thanks to them! Had a broken drain pipe, this item was covered, and repair approved. The plumber they assigned was Ark Plumbing, they came out and just took some pictures of outside the clean out, said they’ll report to insurance, and would need to be approved for a camera. Two weeks later the Ark Plumbing sent the “camera guy” out, who did NOT have a camera, and did not even go into the crawl space to inspect, said he had everything needed for this repair. A report was sent to FAHW stating I needed a 40 foot re pipe, pipe rerouted, with a modification of 18 additional feet. Due to the modification they put on the report the insurance offered me a payout of just $40 and my share of cost would be $3800. I almost agreed, but neither company would give me a statement in writing. I decided to get my own plumber, got six different estimates, three of them used cameras. They narrowed down exactly where the break was, no 18-foot modification was needed. The information sent to AHW by their Ark Plumbing Company was false, inaccurate, and fraudulent, because no inspection was ever done. The reason this break happened was due to another plumber AHW sent out 3 months previously, DSG Plumbing, the tech broke the pipe with his snake, even left behind the coil. I had suspected this immediately due to a smell happening shortly after the first plumber left. When I complained to the insurance they did send a second plumber, American Coast Plumbing who refused to inspect, then AHW denied refunding me for the service. American Home Warranty are unfair and can’t be trusted. They assign plumbers that do not do poor quality of work, most have very bad one-star online ratings, they’re unreliable, give fraudulent information. AHW won’t take responsibility for their bad contractors, they work against their consumers, finding any reason not to pay.

United States | 19 November 2024It was very easy and convenient to report a claim and have someone to come out and look at our broken garage door motors. Repairs were approved and schedule very quickly as well. Extremely happy and grateful for this home warranty service.

United States | 19 November 2024Trade Item Plumbing Property Address 2402 Alto Cerro Cir Claim Number 314000333 In September 2024, Our Main Toilet = OVE Smart Toilet (purchased from Costco in 2020) - Stopped Working and would NOT Flush. Per FAHW; This unit was covered under our Contract! (claim # 314000333). You sent a low priced plumber, who said he doesn't repair smart toilets. As such, First American HS said "fix it yourself" and we authorize a $265 credit!! We contacted OVE, and we needed to order 2 separate parts: A new Cellinoid (receipt below) - for Canadian $ 131.300 = $ 153.26 US Dollars But, is did NOT fully fix and still no Flush. Therefore, OVE sold us the Main chip component/chip and seat/lid (all 1 component). for a price of Canadian $681.35 = which is $921.66 US Dollars Therefore, we paid $1,074.92 US dollars for just for replacement parts from OVE! For Two Months, our Main Toilet did NOT Flush with excrement & defecation in the main part of our house. Knowing the expenses were > $1,000, I watched the YouTube Video/spoke w/ OVE Service and replaced the Parts myself!! It is now working properly! Today is November 18th. I had requested this repair in early September 2024. Therefore, it has been over 75 days since our Main Toilet Broke - and yet, First American still has NOT even reimbursed us for anything - even for the toilet parts!!

I asked him to repair my dishwasher asap cuz I was having company (I was not getting water in my kitchen sink) he said in 3-4 days and I had to text several times til he told me the part is delayed. He came(after I text him again) and put the part in and showed him no water or hot water in the sink. He said I’m not the plumber it’s ur problem call a plumber. He left in a huff. I never want him to repair anything of mine

Called us and left message as he was driving away. He fixed the problem in a timely manner and we thank him for his effort . He knew his trade.

I’m so glad I had upgraded to the first class package so that the spring was covered. First class also covered having our old refrigerator hauled away when FAHW replaced our broken one earlier this year.

Now the contractor co. didn't tell me they had to order a part, making me thinking they had already fix the drier. I found this out the next week when, I call them waiting on a part. United States | 16 November 2024Water damage to 2 rooms from broken pressure regulator valve (PRV), destroyed water softener and expansion tank on water heater. AHW said they do not pay for water softener or expansion tank damages (not part of covered plan - and the responsibility for that would be their Rep who sold the plan to me in Nov 2023). They said they didn't have a plumber for my area (really? we are almost 38,000 residents in our city) and it was up to me to find a contractor. Submitted their Outside Reimursement Authoriation claim form to them with pictures and invoice for PRV (they said they never got it - by email, really??) and showed claim "Closed-Completed" on their website for "My Service Requests". I called and talked to an agent (every one of these agents is outsourced) again emailed to the phone agent the same exact email I had sent 5 days previously, he acknowleddged getting it and sending it to claims and they would call me in 48 hours on the claim. In the meantime, having never used this company in almost 1 year until the last 10 days before the contract expired, they have a new sales rep call me to get my credit card to renew me for another year at an increase of $9 more per month!! Seriously, their customer service is non-existent and they took $640 from me for the last 12 months on a claim that I have paid $518 on and I still don't know what they are going to be paying me back on. Even if it were the full $518, that means that I am still out $122 that I paid to them in premiums for the last year. Really? What do I need AHW for? I could have just saved myself $640 and turned the $518 claim into my homeowners insurance. THIS IS AS RIGGED COMPANY AND A RIP-OFF. I seriously think these 5-star reviews are self-posted by their own employees, not real customers. UPDATE: Having read their response - there are 2 very FACTUALLY INCORRECT statements made by First American Home Warranty: (1) they NEVER provided a copy of the contract and it wasn't discovered until almost 4 weeks later AFTER our plumbing issue that their representative discovered we were NEVER given a copy of the contract we entered into in November 2023; we were emailed a copy AFTER the damage happened (got the email dated 11-22-24 to back that up); (2) they say they refunded the $100, but their accounting department, as of 12-6-24, never refunded the $100. According to their representative, the accounting department "rejected" the refund request and supposedly it was having to be reissued. Still waiting on that one. First American dropped the ball in November 2023 by not selling and disclosing everything we thought we were buying each month in payments and NEVER giving us a copy of the contract at the time of purchasing their services in November 2023. We have had a lot of excuses for non-coverage of items that, totalling up what we paid in monthly premiums, we could have just paid for ourselves and never had to worry about this company's failure to do their job. First American did not do their job right out of the gate when we first entered into the contract. Ask yourelves this: why would you pay monthly premiums for coverage of items that you believed would be covered, only to find out in a contract (never provided), that the items weren't included? Commission sales!! Getting something for a commission sale is better than no commission at all. Except, had First American Home Warranty's sales rep been HONEST in November 2023 in the first place, we would have bought additional coverages to have the piece of mind that if there was a problem, we would be covered. Instead, we had our CHOICES FOR COVERAGE TAKEN AWAY FROM US BY THEIR SALES REP. That is called "hide the ball" in sales. And I am sure that First American Home Warranty will reply to this updated review and have MORE EXCUSES to give.
