United Kingdom | 30 April 2024We hired a VW car in April 2024,at Dublin Airport. As other peole have found, we didn't get the ,car a VW Golf as requested, but a VW SUV. Acceptable so far. The counter girl was helpful, although she could have emphasised some points better. After we had gone about 25 minutes through heavy Dublin traffic,( to far to go back) the car had a couple of faults, we discovered, including the steering? As I am an experienced driver, I figured it was the lane control kicking in. No way of switching it off properly. There was also an issue with the tyre pressures, but I kept an eye on them and it seemed OK. When we returned the car, the girl on the desk was not the slightest bit interested. They also took 100 euros to cover any tolls incured. We are still waiting for a refund on this. I also realised that I had left a pair of bright blue prescription glasses in the car. Like reviews from other people it appears these just vanished. Which is a sad reflection on people Sixt employ. I have also noticed on these reviews, Sixt make no attemt to defend or rectify the complaint. We go to Ireland several times a year, but will certainly not use Sixt again.

Spain | 11 April 2024The rental of the car was a good experience, the staff in the office was nice and explained the process, nevertheless when we needed information from customer service (Jamie) the process has been awful, brief and not clear responses, with information we know they manage daily but they did not bother to share or explain properly to us and they made visible that we were bothering when we remained at all times polite. Ended up having to call other branch offices and our own bank account to obtain the information. Sadly would never repeat as we didn't understand this (on the other hand this issue was all about the deposit initially held back which we are still waiting after 1 month and hope to have it back soon).

Ireland | 09 April 2024I have use this car rental company three times and every single time has been a negative experience. they market themselves as being a premium company offering lots of luxury german cars but they are not what they seem. An example being if you rent a BMW 3 Series online, you NEVER actually get a 3 series, you get a 2 series with a few optional extras. Same with an X5, if you rent an X5 you NEVER get an X5, you get a 5 series. The excuse they use is that the website says 'or similar' but essentially they lie to you and dont give you what you paid for. Second problem is when it comes to insurance and honoring the contract they sign with you, I paid for full insurance with Excess of €0.The car locked with the key inside, so i had to ring the roadside assistance, who are an externally contracted company, rather than open the car they just towed it and then made me get a taxi back to the rental depot where i got a damaged car as the replacement, it had a large dent in the rear bumper. To add insult to injury they emailed me saying that I was liable to pay for the roadside assistance fee! of €186. Stay away from SIXT!!!!!

Ireland | 05 April 2024Recently rented a Toyota hybrid for 4 days from Alex in South Dublin and found it a pleasurable experience. Administration was efficient and helpful, whilst the car was clean and pleasant to drive. I would definately use Sixt south Dublin again. The only downside being it's not easy to get to if you don't have a car to drop you off and collect you. Otherwise a first class experience. Thanks Alex!

United Kingdom | 04 April 2024We were given an SUV in Cork. Only made it to breakfast 20 minutes away from the airport when we were notified the undercarriage protector was dragging along the ground. We hit nothing at all. I looked myself and it’s was literally held together with bungee cords! They have now sent me a claim and are charging me. And sent a picture of them using the bungee cords as proof! So they gave me a messed up SUV and are now trying to have me pay for their cheap fixes. Stay away from this awful company! Oh and this is after I was coerced into paying for more expensive insurance than the Expedia one and was told “bring it back with more damage. You’re covered. I don’t care.” They’re trying to get customers to pay to fix their cheap fix cars and it’s absolutely not ok! Stay away from Sixt!

United Kingdom | 31 March 2024Used Sixt quite regularly over the past few years and could tolerate the regular issues around never getting the car you requested (and the replacement being only remotely equivalent), the waits for pick up and drop off between terminal and car depot, and the variability in staff helpfulness. However, when I unfortunately left my AirPods behind in the rental car and only realised after I’d dropped the keys off, I was left completely unable to retrieve them. Despite initial promises to resolve the situation, I was then forced to chase updates and was ultimately told “nobody saw them” which I know is untrue, with no further assistance. Will not be using again and will make sure my friends and family avoid too.

United States | 23 February 2024We were ripped off the morning of the rental in the Airport at 5am when the price of our rental went up significantly. Later when we contacted their customer service department, we got Ciaran who provided a terrible customer service experience. Unprofessional, unhelpful and a huge disappointment. Never again, I have been traveling to Ireland every year for over 30 years and there are so many other great choices at the airport!

Belgium | 22 February 2024Rent cars regularly in France, have never had any problem until Sixth, took premium car from Toulouse for 3 days, door handle fell off when I parked at my hotel. When returning car the inspector pointed out a 3cm scuff mark on the tyre and rim, it was a scuff not serious damage don’t know how it happened but obviously did! When showed me this I pointed out door handle issue, which he hadn’t, picked up on inspection. Anyway I have just received a bill for €500 it’s nuts. I have rented cars for weeks on end from other suppliers in France and have only ever have one issue. These guys are no good and just want to screw the customer. Stay away you may think you are getting a premium rental but they will go to town on you if you have any issue. Lucky I have excess insurance, but I feel really annoyed that I have to use it, and really feel that these people are just out hit you with extras.

Isle of Man | 19 February 2024Terrible company. I booked a last minute trip over to see my dying Gran, I've prepaid in full with the full insurance however I didn't have a credit card with me I was explaining that I was a victim of fraud recently and cancelled my cards so I only had a revolut card with me. Vitali at the counter was rude, uninterested in helping and to be honest came across like he couldn't care any less if he tried. I asked for a refund again he informed me that I need to email customer support team as they are the ones processing refunds he told me it will take up to 5 days from sending the request in. I'm on the day 15th working dsy now and getting nowhere I asked to raise this as a complaint and asked what are my referral rights as a customer this has been ignored as well. Jamie from customer support team got in touch around day 10 after I rang them with a half as* email template that wasn't even edited properly.

Ireland | 04 February 2024Terrible service at Dublin airport absolutely no care about the customer. Absolute joke of a customer service team ignoring emails the usual excuses of high volumes of complaints.....

United States | 19 January 2024If I could give a ZERO or Negative star rating I would! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!! I was legitimately the victim of a crime on their behalf. I purchased car insurance prior to my trip as I am from the United States and my plan here does not cover me in Ireland. Regardless, they insisted that I had to have either $2000 or $5000 charged to my card as some type of security deposit that would be "refunded" when I returned the vehicle. The $2000 was said to be for those who have coverage, the $5000 amount was for those taking their insurance. I was given absolutely no choice if I wanted my car rental. As bad luck would have it, I broke a taillight backing up in my hotel parking garage on the way to returning the vehicle. I made them aware of the damage when I returned the car. This car had previous damage (dents and scratches) in the same area BEFORE I rented it. I have photographic proof. I had to chase them for weeks to find out what the repair would cost me. Finally, a fleet rep told me it was 250 euros "in total". A few months later, I find a charge of over $2100 on my card. They doubled back and charged me for pre-existing damages, insisting that was responsible. When was the last time a broken taillight in a Toyota cost over 2 thousand dollars. No responses from their customer service. The fleet representative I dealt with insisted that I was wrong despite evidence to the contrary. As you can see from other Yelp reviews and Trip Advisor reviews, these people do this all the time. They are corrupt and they are criminals. American tourists should be beware as we are prime targets for these predators.

United Kingdom | 18 January 2024Once again Sixt (This isn't the first time) took money from my CC after claiming the car wasn't returned full. They claim they had to put 2l of fuel in the car which they charged a premium for. They also charged me €13 for the pleasure of putting in 2l of fuel. This isn't the first time these extra charges have been taken. I wouldn't mind but the car was returned full minus from the petrol station 1.3km away. Last time that i will use Sixt.

Ireland | 20 October 2023If I could give this company 0 stars I would. After returning the car they tried to charge 100s of euros on to my card in addition to the vehicle cost. This is a completely fraudulent company.
