Spain | 21 August 2019We rented a car in Dublin from SIXT last week and broke the plastic on the left-hand mirror. We contract insurance with € 300 franchise. Can someone explain to us why they have charged us € 300 for a repair of just 50 euros ??? It doesn't seem fair or reasonable. We rely on car rental companies that do not look for their customers. Gracias

United Kingdom | 19 August 2019Do not use this company under any circumstances! They will wait until you have returned the vehicle (2 months later) then steal money via your credit card claiming you damaged the vehicle. Do not get caught out, if you have already made the mistake of booking with them, make sure you photograph or film ever bit of damage to the vehicle when you pick it up and do not delete the photos, as they WILL try to extort money from you,

Spain | 27 July 2019I rented a car for two weeks at Dublin airport, the delivery of the car was correct, I had booked through an intermediary, Auto Europe, with whom I had total covert, so I did not take out all-risk insurance with Sixt. Due to this they made a charge of 15OO euros as a guarantee of the car insurance franchise. On our first day we had a small accident and we broke the front wheel of the car, we notified Sixt roadside assistance that it was limited to send a tow truck to remove the car, staying an hour and a half from our destination without a car and without roadside assistance . When I returned home I found that I had been charged 1300 euros for the repair of the vehicle without returning the deposit of 1500 euros, fifteen days later I am still waiting for the return of the deposit and the sending of the repair invoice. A horrible experience that ruined my vacation. Never rent with Sixt.

United Kingdom | 17 July 2019Booked a car 3 weeks in advance (Manchester booked for Dublin Airport, Ireland pickup) included my flight number etc. When I arrived after a 35 min wait at the counter found out they did not have a car, I was told to go for a coffee in airport until one became available. After another hour a car became available. When I went to the pick up zone, again I was told to wait as it was being cleaned! In total waited 2 hours to drive off. Funny as if you are 10 mins late you will be charged for another day. The whole process was chaotic and shambolic. I have to say the staff were friendly but does not make up for poor process.

United Kingdom | 07 June 2019We rented a car through Sixt Ireland. We were sold insurance add-ons we did not need but was impossible for us to cancel. Then, after a few hours the car broke down. We paid €200 euros for a taxi to the hotel with the promise that this would be refunded. 3 months later, I have been told that the car breakdown (out of our control) is NOT covered by insurance and the taxi fee will NOT be refunded. Truly shocking and appalling service. Stay well away people.

These people are THIEVES, STAY AWAY.

United Kingdom | 05 June 2019We hired a 7 seater via Expedia with Sixt to collect at Belfast International airport. Transfer to rental shop was quick and easy. Unfortunately I thought when booking I have booked a Ford Galaxy (or similar) but was given a Kia Carens which you would not fit a suitcase in the boot whilst using 7 seats. However the staff were excellent and very accommodating and allowed us to upgrade to a minibus and ensured that we got the best value for money deal. Would book directly with Sixt rather than a third party in the future. Be careful when using the sat nav postcode given by Sixt when returning the car to Belfast International Airport. All staff we came into contact with were very helpful and friendly.

United Kingdom | 29 May 2019Absalute joke, NEVER EVER rent from these people and i hope you heed my advice, i'm a Driving Instructor, i have been driving for 26 years and not as much as put a scratch on a car. I rented an eight seater from SIXT Belfast for the weekend, when we picked it up the sun was splitting the sky's and the vehicle was gleaming, so yeah great, had the car Friday to Sunday and it was a great holiday, thoroughly enjoyed it lovely country. So headed back to the airport to head home, dropped the vehicle off and they came out to inspect it, headed straight for the wing mirror, to me it looked like wind swept dirt off the road around the edge, the guy then proceeded to act like i had written the car off, it was a scuff, hadn't even broke the paint, rub with a bit of T-Cut if that, next thing i know i have a bill through for £215.95. Honestly the mark was about 2 cm long and about 1cm wide, i have put the image on my profile picture. He knew exactly where to go and what he was looking for, if you check out all their reviews they all say the same, wish i had. Criminals, they should be embarrassed infact i'm embarrassed for them. DON'T TOUCH THEM WITH A BARGE POLE.

United Kingdom | 24 February 2019Terrible! Avoid at all costs!!! Joe who works there was extremely rude. A car rental that was Advertised for £134 ended up costing over £300. I booked the car but couldn’t drive it because I haven’t had my license for 4 years. Booked through rental cars yet I read Sixt full terms on their rental cars offer which did not mention this at all. Joe did not for a second acknowledge this despite me getting up the website and asking him to show me this rule. Joe started off saying he would do me a ‘favour’ that he usually doesn’t do. He would let me change the booking to my Dad’s name but he could only do this if we bought Sixt insurance for £180 extra (the rental was £134 and that included full insurance through rental cars) and then when I complained and told him to show me the terms, he didn’t even know where to find them. He was very clearly making me pay this to earn extra commission for himself. After a few minutes he found them on the Sixt website (not where it was booked). He then said ‘I don’t have to give you the car’ as if he’s doing me a favour. I will never use Sixt again and will ensure I spread the word for how rude their staff are. I manage a consulting business in London with 96% 5 star reviews. I understand customer service very well. Can’t remember the last time I expierience customer service as bad as this!!

Qatar | 09 December 2018I went to Ireland with my family during October 2018 and rent a car with Sixt. Sixt Ireland gave me a car with +98k. After I drove it for 800km the car broke down, it had a problem with the clutch. All my life, +20 years, I droved manuals cars without problem. Besides that they left me, my wife and my 2 years old daughter at 250km away from Dublin without any support, plus on the day I dropped the replacement car, another car with manual gearbox that I didn't had any problem, Sixt charged my credit card with +2000 USD stating it is due to repair the car I allegly broke. Sixt presented me a report from another car and the report of my car only came 10 days of being charged. We know as fact that this car never been maintained in a VW agent and we have serious doubts that the "engineer" that signed the damage reports is really engineer. We tried to contact Sixt many times but for them fraud, lack of assistance to the clients, transparency and good faith aren't part of their values. I used Sixt all my life in many countries but not anymore. Jorge Cardoso

United Kingdom | 02 October 2018Rented a car from them, through Holiday Autos, in Cyprus in August 2017. Still waiting for my £100 deposit. Gave my some cock and bull story, but ultimately anyone will be a fool to use them. Not trustworthy!

Poland | 12 June 2018350 Euro to hire a small car on a Friday at 5pm until Sunday at 5pm in May 2018. I had a wedding in Belfast but was flying into Dublin. I had to pay a cross border fee to go to the North of 35Euro, (the same does not apply going from the North, to Republic of Ireland). I have rented with Hertz and Avis in NI and UK for 5 days-a week and never paid more than 60 Euro. I was willing to put a big deposuit down in place of a credit card but that wasn't permitted. How can I normal person afford 350euro for car hire for two days and how can a car hire company stand by that? Staff were totally unapologetic saying it was because they were 'busy', yet there was a choice of a few cars there when I arrived. Extortionate, a total rip off. I will take my business elsewhere and have told me friends and family the same. Never again.

Ireland | 04 June 2018Was going on a business trip to Waterford, Ireland. Have reserved/rented a car from home and expected it to be ready when landing in Dublin at 12am. Went to the Sixt office in the airport and waited there for 40 minutes when I was told I should just go down and wait for the shuttlebus to come and pick me up and drive me to the location where the cars would be. Waited in the sun, 26 degrees in the shadow, for 2 hours and 45 minutes. We where around 40-50 people waiting for that shuttlebus, called them 10 times and they promised every time, that the bus would be there in 5-10 minutes. No one came with water, was dehydrating, sweating and feeling sick. Finally the bus came and we arrived at their office where I was waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes to get the keys for the car. Have rented a "VW Golf or Similar", got a Toyata Hybrid "probably the worst car ever", but it could drive. I told the manager at the office how bad I thought their service was, that we were waiting so many hours and I had to cancel all the schedule meetings I had that day. His response was "I don't think you waited that long, our buses drives every 5 minutes". Well, that just added more proof to the "bad service" issue. Will NEVER rent through Sixt again, NEVER! Hertz, Avis and Europecar had busses coming every 5th minute, so I will definately go with one of those in the future!

United Kingdom | 28 March 2018When travelling in Ireland, make sure you pay the toll charges yourself or get in writing how much they are charging to your card per toll. I was charged €9.80 for two tolls that should have cost me €6.20. There are no admin fees in relation to the toll charge in Ireland so this is just blatant overcharging. The car we hired was great and the staff we dealt with were very friendly but the overcharging has sullied what was otherwise a good experience with Sixt.

Denmark | 27 February 2018I recently rented a car from you Sixt via Ryanair, and I was really confused regarding the prices etc. I paid Ryanair for both the car and insurance, when ordering the car. When I came to pick up the car, I had to pay additional for both the car and the Sixt-guy told me, the insurance I had bought didn't cover, so he sold me a new one.. I talked to Ryanair, who told me, the insurance I bought through them had me covered, and the guy shouldn't have sold me an extra one. So now, I rented the car, and paid twice, both to you and Ryanair, and I paid for two insurances, both when ordering the car from Ryanair, and when picking it up.. so Sixt just ripped me off of 258 euros extra, even though I had already paid for the car and insurance...

Denmark | 30 October 2017Do not rent at Sixt in Dublin. If you dare to rent at Sixt at Dublin Airport - bring condoms and lube because they will try to screw you. They really don’t care about you. All they want is your money. Only regarding Ireland – Not regarding Sixt in the rest of Northern Europe where they rent new and cleaned cars and where customer service are very friendly and have a lot of skills. Two times in 2017 I rented a SDAR CLASS car (VW Passat aut.) at Sixt in Dublin Airport. In July and again in October. Both cars: Both times the cars were dirty. The cars interior were full of stains and the outside of the cars were full of dirt and dust. Both cars were full of scratches, bumps and they were over 2 ½ years old even though Sixt company policy is that they rent new vehicles. The VW Passat I rented in July had a mileage of +30.000 km. and the one I rented in October had a mileage of +101.000 km… Both cars had several failures / errors such as flat tire warnings, oil change service error, low/no battery warning regarding the car key and both cars had really bad windshield wipers. Not good in Ireland. Especially not good in Ireland in October month with the “Irish Monsoon rains” and storms! The last car: I ordered and paid 45 days before the start date. The amount I had to pay was approx. 500 EUR + (300 EUR in deposit – got all the deposit back) for the SDAR car. That’s a good prize for 6 days with a new SDAR CLASS car. Unfortunately Sixt didn’t have an avaliable car in the SDAR CLASS so they tried to give me a Renault Captur (two classes under what I paid for) so I refused. They felt insulted because I didn’t want the Renault Captur and I had to talk to a woman in their office. After 20 min. I got a SDAR CLASS car but with the above written problems and it was only at Sixt carpark because the car dealer haven’t collected it yet! The old Sixt cars get sent back to car dealers etc... After returning the car the week after I talked to the manager but he couldn’t do anything! The manager even told me that they only use the old VW Passat cars for 1 day rent until they are collected by car dealers!!! Tried to email their customer service but they were not service-minded! The only thing they could do was to give me an unknown percentage off my next rental car! I’m so disappointed with Sixt in Ireland. I gave them two chances this year but for no good reason. I this case it’s good I’m a man for otherwise I’d be pregnant now.

Canada | 19 September 2017I've never written a bad review but here goes. I concur - DO NOT RENT WITH THIS CAR COMPANY. It took 2-3 hours to pick up our car, standing in line and then the whole process was a nightmare. I think they make you wait that long so that when you're finally talking with an agent you're so tired you're not really paying attention. We wanted to add a driver and upgrade to a car that had wi fi/GPS. We ended up getting a dinky plug in, not the upgraded car with wi fi and they still charged us for the upgraded car. The end cost was more than double then what I had originally booked with American Express. We knew it would be more but that's crazy. There are more reputable car companies that are more honest.

United Kingdom | 30 August 2017DO NOT USE SIXT DUBLIN!!! We rented a car on 10th August for 3 days. On arrival at the airport, we were told by the unsmiling man at the Sixt desk that since we didn't book directly with them, we would have to get the shuttlebus to the compound. On our arrival, there were 25 customers waiting to be served, and only 3 people serving. After 20 minutes when the same 3 people were still there, I went to see a man sitting, staring out of the window, who was in a glass walled office at the front. He told me he was the supervisor, and was busy. I pointed out that he had no paperwork and the computer was not on, and told him to get out there immediately to help to reduce the queue. He covered his name badge when I asked his name, so I went to take a photo, and as he put his hand out to stop me, I saw his name was WALTER. It took TWO hours before we finally got our car, and were asked to check for dents and scratches in the dark, which we were unable to do. Because of this delay, we missed the special meal we had paid 120 Euros for, as we arrived at the hotel at gone midnight. It ruined the start of our holiday. Eventually, having given me every excuse for the rubbish service, I got back half the rental which barely covered anything. USE THEM AT YOUR PERIL!!! Did you know they are a franchise???

Denmark | 26 July 2017In Dublin Airport we took the Sixt shuttle bus to the car pick up location. There we had to wait for more than half an hour just to get to the counter. The staff seemed uninterested and arrogant. We had booked a VW Golf or similar, but Sixt claimed they only had a Dacia Duster left. I refused to accept an inferior car, which had only received 3 stars in the Euro Ncap crash test. Sixt could not understand my objections. After waiting another 15 minutes for the manager, Sixt suddenly managed to find a Renault Captur for us. The car however had many scratches/dents outside and the interior was also pretty worn. Returning the car I expected lots of trouble and explaining even though we hadn’t made any damages, but it was surprisingly uncomplicated. However, I did not get a receipt for returning the car. "You'll get it by email", they said, but still I haven't received it (since 2 days now). Sixt is cheaper than other companies, however, it comes at a price. In my opinion the saving is not worth the time and the trouble.
