I am a small business owner that is extremely busy with managing all aspects of my business. My bench representative has been timely and mindful of my schedule and very easy to work with.

I can't wait to write this review, honestly. I've been telling everyone I know about this service since we started up with these folks in November, 2021. If we hadn't lost our long-time bookkeeper then, we would never have learned about Bench. We are MUCH better off now than we could imagine. We're getting accurate, on-time financial statements, and have saved about a half-time staff position in payroll cost. EVERYONE I have worked with at Bench has been very friendly, capable, and helpful. We are a $2 million gross retail business (a large bookstore in Mountain View, CA. (I'm sharing this so you know this is a real review -- I hate fake reviews). Losing our accountant in this labor market was a real emergency. After trying to hire unsuccessfully, I learned about Bench through some online reviews, and reached out for help. They are now handling 100% of our skilled accounting needs, REMOTELY through 3rd party read-only access of all our financial accounts. (The onboarding was fast and easy). Bench reconciles all of our accounts and closes out our end of month financials within 2 WEEKS. (Our bookkeeper was always 4 months or more behind). Bench is providing tax documents that we will give to our CPA (or you can pay extra and have Bench do your accounting). We communicate via their app and they reply quickly, usually same day. It's also been easy to schedule a call if more detailed questions arise. All we do in-house now is WRITE CHECKS and review statements from vendors. We already have a payroll service. At the end of the month, I prepare 2 simple reports and send them to Bench. At the end of the month, I spend 30 MINUTES reviewing every transaction we have in Bench's online interface, and making occasional tiny changes in categorization if needed. That's it. They do an amazing job. The $299/month Bench charges is a tiny fraction of what we were paying our bookkeeper, and every aspect is faster and more transparent than what we were doing before. We can instantly view our account in Bench online and see what bills have been paid and when. This was impossible before. You had to ask the someone to research through QuickBooks and mounds of paperwork, and wait for a reply. Writing checks and other simple, anyone-can-do financial tasks are about 1 full day a week. That's all we need to do in-house. Important: If you have an inventory-heavy business like ours: Bench does Cash Accounting, not the recommended Accrual. A few years ago, the IRS issued a ruling that appeared to allow inventory-heavy businesses to do Cash Accounting instead of Accrual if they wish (for businesses under $25 million in annual sales). But the IRS rules are still shifting and unsettled. So we've decided to use Bench's Cash Accounting data for nearly all of our monthly P&L, and are adding in our Sales and Cost of Goods Sold figures ourselves from our POS. (We're doing Modified Cash-Basis accounting). Bench's website says that they can work with businesses that need Modified Cash-Basis Accounting, but I haven't explored that with them -- it's easy for me to make adjustments to our P&L using their data and our POS data. Bench is simply a brilliant idea for an amazingly reasonable cost. I can't recommend them more highly. P.S. I see a lot of reviews from home and small businesses. But it's really larger businesses that will hugely benefit from this service.

I have been with Bench for over a year. I have spent thousands of dollars and I can't tell you enough how much I regret it. I kept hoping they would get my books in line and I could properly run my business. Its Feb 2022 and I don't know what my books are from July 21- Dec 21 2021. I have submitted everything they have asked. I also wanted them to do my quarterlys, I had to pay for them to review taxes from previous years just to start doing my quarterly. That was last year...still no results on that spectrum either I'm currently searching for other options but I'm stuck until they atleast get done 2021. As a business owner I can't stress enough go elsewhere. I'll be the first to admit I don't know how to do these things, that's why I hired a professional company to do them. I would look elsewhere.

I used a big, expensive firm, but was small enough as a client that I slipped through the cracks - enough so that they forgot to file our taxes one year. I tried the in-house bookkeeper but things we're done how she thought, not how the business needed it. I even had an FTE CFO once, who basically fooled me and outsourced his own job and cost us a fortune. Everyone said I "had" to use Quickbooks or Xero, and I thought... why? Enter Bench. An entirely new experience that is based on clear communication, simple books you can understand, and done in a timely manner at a fraction the cost of others.

I love Bench! They have helped me and my business so much by letting me focus on other tasks and not being worried about every single transaction and if my books are a mess....because they never are anymore! They take care of everything each month and even prep the end-of-year financials for my taxes. I appreciate their expertise and helping me grow my business!

Bench has been an amazing tool to automate my bookkeeping. Reports are provided seamlessly for the end of each month with little input from me. Would highly recommend to anyone that puts off their bookkeeping for months!

The product is good a does what it says it does. They built a real nice UI, with a good messaging system, but for some reason the onboarding requires phone calls. I wish I could have set everything up without having to do several repetitive meetings.

The onboarding was efficient and easy. The support staff and how it’s sequenced is awesome. I’m looking forward to having an ‘automated’ bookkeeping and tax filing service for our law firm so our lawyers can focus on lawyering.
