This is my first book and first experience working with a publishing firm. I had no idea what was involved and what to expect. I am blessed to say that at each stage of the process my assigned coordinators were extremely helpful and they guided me through. All and all it went smoothly.

I really feel duped using iUniverse. Before a skilled sales-lady called me, I had self-published two books. I paid a LOT of money for iuniverse to help with both (even though they were already published-my bad) the sales gal explained they would be re-published, new and improved, new covers, more edits, with new ISBNs etc. She further told me iUniverse knew there was much more to publishing, specifically marketing (they call a lot and every time ask for more money-every time!) The problem was after a year of back an forth with them my first book was republished and it was basically the same. (I got a 'form' email that said, "congratulations, you're a self-published author!" Uuummm I was a self-published author before confirming to me, I was nothing more than a number in their system. Oh... and it's up to me to market, even though this was supposed to be a part of the package, it was more money if I wanted them to do it. In the mean time, I had published, recorded/audiobook and moved forward with my second book. It won two awards without them doing anything. LONG STORY SHORT-iUniverse did nothing for me I couldn't have done myself. I regret using them as I could have used that money for a massive marketing promotion and it would have been money better spent. If you're considering self-publishing, just do it, these folks aren't going to do anything for you you can't do yourself.

If you are a writer struggling to break into the industry iUniverse is an excellent starting point, reliable and honest, made up of industry professionals who will help you achieve your personal and professional goals.

I have done half a dozen books with iUniverse and find them an excellent company. I would not return to them so often if I were not so very satisfied with their work. The books look amazing.

IUNIVERSE does a fair job editing and impressive book cover designs. You will get an email informing the project is complete but if you are waiting for your own books that come with your package you have to pay shipping and handling . You would think that it was included in the package. You will get a call cornering you to remind you of this and how many additional books you want to order.The self publishing industry is a nightmare but IUNIVERSE seems to be on the right path. If I did not encounter this issue I would have rated a five and would like to see shipping added in the package.

There were too many hic ups, in the production of my book. The first was the Editorial Summary, Fifty pages of canned nonsense. The second was misleading me on the length of years a copyright is good for. Kimberly Fox made me believe that the length was only 17 years. The third was by E. Thomas, indicating that I needed to obtain permission from each author that I had quoted in my book when all I needed was a footnote.

I am happy with iUniverse and what it represents. The publications of iUniverse are excellent. The speed with which it publishes manuscripts and its expertise are amazing. In a short space of time, iUniverse published two of my books. I therefore rate it 5 tars:Excellent. Hilary C. Achunike

My experience with iUniverse has been great. Very friendly customer service, excellent book printing quality, and their willing to collaborate effectively with me to produce a great book. I've had many helpful interactions with iUniverse employees, who have assisted me along the way, particularly with one who is very polite and interesting gentleman, a senior marketing supervisor - Mr. Alfred Riley. I'm sorry I am not getting personalized help I need, plus I did pay a lot and still have not seen any results. Though I would be delegating more on iUniverse instead of having to be more involved, but if I am not, the branding is not right and I am not getting any marketing support as I thought I would from the intitial package. I am offered extras (a lot and frequently but how can I pay/buy more if I am not yet satisfied with what I have) ... like take the web design it does not follow any kind of guideline of how to use it to sell... I am trying to work out the final stages and make the most out of it though - hope to get more / better help soon.

The most suspect, underhanded, sketchy place I've ever seen. Out to scam the elderly out of their life savings by preying on their dreams of publishing a book. Don't do it. Run away.
