About New Zealand School of Food and Wine

Founded by Celia Hay, the New Zealand School of Food & Wine has been educating the next generation of baristas, chefs, restaurant & café managers, sommeliers and wine professionals, hospitality- tourism entrepreneurs as well as people who just love good food since 1995. Located in Auckland's Viaduct, our NZQA New Zealand Government accredited qualifications offer practical hands-on cooking and hospitality-tourism focused certificates, taught by a team of chefs, restaurant managers and wine professionals who are experts in their field and focused on the success of our students.

Really enjoyed the bartending/cocktails/spirits micro credential with Franck! He is an excellent teacher, very entertaining and I felt like I left the course with the exact knowledge I needed to get out of it. The school is amazing and I really enjoyed doing my 4 certificates here over the last 4 months. I even got to put my barista credential knowledge back into use again behind the barista machines during breaks without any pressure which was awesome to get the opportunity to make a few coffees again in a very familiar environment & seeing Jinnie again was great too! It was nice to see the friendly admin team and Celia around throughout the week who were all awesome and helpful! A very inspiring and motivating school to learn or upskill at! Thank you! A++++++

I did learn a lot about chocolate, tips on making chocolate cake, tempered chocolate, chocolate ganache, piping, shaping and fancy deco. I feel the course is a bit rushed as we finished almost an hour earlier than the schedule. I would like to concentrate a bit more when we were doing the practical work after the demo, but did get some interruptions and being rushed to get to the next stage. The lunch was very short. It would be great if we were given 45min-1hr to go out and have our own food, instead of having to have the cheese platter and crackers provided on site in a short time.

Ralf is a gifted and amazing teacher. I learned a lot from this course and it wasn't intimidating. Everything was easy to follow and I felt like I gained confidence in making bread despite being a beginner.
