About New Zealand School of Food and Wine

Founded by Celia Hay, the New Zealand School of Food & Wine has been educating the next generation of baristas, chefs, restaurant & café managers, sommeliers and wine professionals, hospitality- tourism entrepreneurs as well as people who just love good food since 1995. Located in Auckland's Viaduct, our NZQA New Zealand Government accredited qualifications offer practical hands-on cooking and hospitality-tourism focused certificates, taught by a team of chefs, restaurant managers and wine professionals who are experts in their field and focused on the success of our students.

I highly recommend this course. The chef teaching us was excellent and gave demonstrations of every step and supported all class members to ensure that they baked a number of different breads in the class. The bread was all amazing and I have been baking bread every since.

I took on a one-day baking class there about 5 months ago and it was a really exciting learning experience. It was really hands-on and the class was reasonably sized. We got to make a few different breads in class to take home at the end. Ralf was a really patient and caring lecturer with a lot of teaching experience.

Overall good experience and learned a lot but I will suggest to have a smaller group class and longer time. It was a bit rush towards the end of class.

I have come home and made so much bread since as it was very hands on and easy to follow and then reproduce.

Loved the course would do it again and already recommended to friends. Having coffee and lunch, listening to the tutor was fantastic. Value for money. Since then I have experimented with weekend breads and felt way more confident.

Appreciated all the help prior to the course date in regards to how to set up effectively to be able to access the online course. Both Celia and Oliver were awesome in executing the course, it was thorough and well explained throughout.

I had top quality tutors and resources available to me. Great school and great location. I still use the school recipes. Good value for money and they also assisted students in gaining work experience in all the top restaurants. My time at the school was enjoyable and I recommend the school to anyone.

The Introduction to New Zealand wine course was exactly what I needed to start my journey into the world of wines. Excellent tutors, clear notes and everything was explained very thoroughly. It was a nice relaxed atmosphere with no pressure to know the correct terms or wine lingo, we all learnt together over the 2 days. I would recommend this course for anyone wishing to learn more about wines for their career or who simply have an interest in wine and want to know more for going out, reading wine lists, bottles and enjoying a glass with dinner.

I followed this course purely for the love and appreciation of wine. I really enjoyed it and learnt a lot from it. I think the next class I follow will have to be a classroom experience as I think the virtual session took away a bit of that team feeling and collaboration that ads to the experience.
