Ridiculous customer complaint handling process; fails to respond to email; fails to respond to Subject Access Requests; careless with handling data wrt privacy and confidentiality. Even does not respond to the MP, and yet is entrusted to hold on to substantial deposits by the Govt. Another organisation not fit for purpose.

United Kingdom | 10 March 2023Absolutely appalling. They have now been holding my deposit for over 100 days, they refuse to answer emails or give me an update. I managed to speak to someone in chat who refused to give me a timeline or update and told me that I should just be grateful I get to use this 'free' service. This is clearly designed to make the process as long as possible so that tenants will just give up and accept ridiculous deductions from their landlords. Completely unethical, this company should be banned.

United Kingdom | 07 March 2023Still in the dispute process. Timescale estimates are just wrong! says you get your undisputed amount back within 10 days of the case being opened you dont! The process is unclear and forms are trying to trip you up at every turn. Whole process is rigged towards the landlords.. which when you read all the reviews. Landlords love it, tenants hate it. Not holding much hope for getting any of my money back. So much for being on the tenants side.

I’ve been waiting EIGHT months to get my deposit back, their terms clearly state the landlord had 6 months to produce a court claim which overrides their adjudication service. No such claim exists - I’ve got emails from the county court to prove this. Yet they’re still withholding my deposit, saying they’re “still chasing the landlord” even though it’s clear he hasn’t filed anything. I’m pregnant and the stress of this is really affecting my health which I’ve told them, I’ve sent countless emails yet I’m lucky to get a reply at all. I’m having to now report them to the financial Ombudsman- I’m lucky I haven’t been made homeless by this. Awful service they do NOT protect tenants rights.

United Kingdom | 02 March 2023Used these through reeds rains automatically, I wouldn't by choice. They have held our deposit when they have been told to release funds, new tenants are already in the property, they have made no contact with us, they have been told by reeds rains to release funds but still refusing. Tried to call but their contact number leads you up the garden path then ends call. Be vigilant with these as they believe it's ok to sit on your money and not give it back although all checks and been passed. My deposits will commit theft right Infront of you and not give you an answer and evade all communication. Be careful with these.

United Kingdom | 27 February 2023My deposit insured scheme sucks ,we started this back in December and it is still going on , how are tennets supposed to survive when they take this long and no doubt they will still end up in the landlords favour even though he has sold the property some six weeks after we moved out so him saying he had to lay new carpets etc is just a right load of bull , thought this scheme was supposed to help both party's well clearly this is not the case do they think the longer they delay things the more chance we will forget it .this scheme should be changed and now

United Kingdom | 21 February 2023This company are being investigated by MPs across the country because of their licence being possibly revoked. I know this because I have spent the last few months contact mps everywhere to let them know how disgusting this service is. I paid the deposit for a rental property, within 3 months it became apparent the landlord had been taken to court a year before and his mortgage provider had reposessed the property after he failed to pay the mortgage. This meant the deposit and rent was null and void due to it being an illegal tenancy. Mydeposit knew about this in the last 12 months of my living at the property and point blank refused to refund my deposit. They were stating my landlord had not physically put the deposit into their account and therefore they were not responsible. Ive emailed them 38 times in the last 12 months and they ignore my emails. If I call them they look at the notes and simply terminate the call EVERY TIME. I am about to take legal action against the company as they have broken the law, they did not protect my deposit. I wil In reply to Mydeposits reply ... Your company was supposed to PROTECT my deposit. The court case was not a case I took against the landlord .. it was his mortgage providers eviction hearing. I provided you with evidence from the court that the landlord had legal right to rent the property and that the deposit and rent was non payable, null and void as was my tenancy agreement. You company refused to protect my deposit. Your company did not protect my deposit. Look at your companies response here Thank you for your emails and your comments have been noted. When you raised the dispute you stated that you vacated the property on the 1 June 2019. . Only a tenant can start the dispute process and not the landlord. Therefore we are going on information that you have supplied. I note in your email you have stated you are still residing in the rental address. We are unable to deal with a dispute about the return of the deposit, until you have vacated the rental address. Therefore once you vacate the rental address, please contact us again with regards to raising a dispute,if you still have issues with regards to the return of your deposit. kind regards, Tracy Peat mydeposits. THAT IS AFTER YOUR COMPANY WAS TOLD THE LANDLORD HAD THE PROPERTY REPOSESSED AND WAS BEING EVICTED 8 MONTHS BEFORE TAKING OUR DEPOSIT. Some of your staffs responses have been grotesquely unprofessional. 'we don't hold the money'. 'You will need to chase the landlord for the refund' 'we do not actually protect the deposit as in we keep hold of the money' So, what is the point of your company. If you cannot physically protect the deposit and provide the deposit, (which according to the government legislation is exactly what your company is supposed to do). I'm £900 out of pocket and all your company has done is protect a criminal landlord who defrauded us out of our money. Why don't you explain fully as to what exactly your company does do to protect deposits I will attempt to communicate with your company again today through my legal adviser.

United Kingdom | 17 February 2023Their system is not fit for purpose. Our tenant absconded owing rent and having caused damages. Magistrates no longer witness signatures in this area and the legal professionals are charging fees upwards and beyond the value of the deposit itself! The only course of action, they say is to leave the deposit with them…how is this fair or just when the losses in this case are so far exceeding £4,000? I regret using this service. They lack real world common sense. One star is hardly achievable here. Ps After the company’s reply, I agree with their point perhaps what is needed is amendments of the regulations to prevent the unintended effects when legal professionals put their prices up to deter this kind of business. A lawyer told me ‘it’s not worth our while doing this kind of work’

New Zealand | 15 February 2023The other tenants and I have had real issues with mydeposits to retrieve our disputed deposit back. We left the property in December and having completed the forms and contacted mydeposits on multiple occasions (well within the time frame) we are still waiting for a response or any update regarding our dispute. As young professionals, it’s been rather taxing trying to retrieve our disputed deposit whilst working full time jobs as the calling hours for my deposits have been inconvenient with the long waiting hours to then hear nothing has progressed. I will no longer be referring any of my friends or family to mydeposits due to the lack of communication in regards to our dispute, the fact the service will only talk to one of the tenants and will not discuss anything with the others and how they dealt with our dispute as a whole. It would be greatly appreciated if a colleague could reach out and help us with this, as it feels like there is no hope in getting our money that we’re rightfully owed back.

Secondly why your chat support service never works, it is disabled. When we try to reach through emails, we get an automatic response telling not to contact you. What kind if support is it.
