United Kingdom | 14 January 2016Didn't know what to expect ordering from a diy shop online, as normally I buy from shops but they didn't have what I needed and I come across tools net offering what I needed at a fraction of the price shops where charging for a set of smaller step ladders. Fantastic price, quick delivery and the youngman s400 8 tread step ladder are great quailty and I'm looking at ordering a set of 6 treads for jobs inside the house.

United Kingdom | 14 January 2016Placed an order with tool-net for ~ £200, and (of course) selected one of the available shipping options that they gave me. A day later I receive an email saying "Thank you for your order. The £6.99 + VAT delivery option you clicked covers orders up to 30kg. In order to deliver your order it will cost £13.04 + VAT. As you have already paid £6.99 + VAT the outstanding balance on the order is £7.26 inclusive of VAT. You can make payment by card over the telephone on 0800 1300 888, alternatively we can send you a paypal request." If it's going to cost more to ship and item because of it's weight or size, then tell me at checkout - NOT AFTER I'VE PLACED AND PAID FOR THE ORDER! Fix your cart software to show the correct shipping prices, don't go chasing customers after to try and make them pay for your mistake! Sent emails explaining that I wasn't happy to pay more (obviously), but they were ignored. Terrible customer service, and terrible experience overall. I won't be ordering again.

United Kingdom | 10 January 2016I searched the web for the cheapest Everbuild Heatmate, Tool-net were the cheapest, not only for Heatmate, but all other Everbuild products. So I placed an order, the P&P put me off a bit but if you go to Yourtools website I managed to get a free P&P voucher, so happy days. The order arrived in a couple of days so in all very happy.

United Kingdom | 07 January 2016Ordered a cement mixer from tool-net based on google store price which was the best for the model. Then received an email from tool-net saying the checkout price was not correct because the shipping which they calculated was not correct and that I should have known this because of the weight of the item??? So rather than pay the extra £17 I decided to cancel the order. They then agreed to ship at original price. They then decided that it was out of stock and so 3 weeks later I still have not received my cement mixer. So basically, they took my money, demanded more than originally agreed and regardless, I still don't have the product I paid for because they did not have it in stock despite saying they did... What a shower!

United Kingdom | 04 January 2016Ordered a motorcycle work bench on 14th December (£436.00) Was emailed same day that the standard shipping rate was not correct and they wanted a further £87.00. I cancelled the order and have received emails & an order status stating that the order has been cancelled. Advised 3-5 day delay for refunds & still waiting. I've reported it to my banks fraud dept who are making a claim against them. Never, ever again.

United Kingdom | 23 December 2015I needed a ladder to put up some lights for Christmas. I borrowed a ladder last year, so I knew exactly which ladder I wanted. I looked around and found that Tool-NET was the most competitive supplier. I did a Trust Pilot check and found they had a reasonable score. Better still, the ladder was 'In stock'. So I ordered the ladder and paid through PayPal on the 12th of December. On the 14th I got an e-mail from Tool-NET telling me that they couldn't process my order because they needed a phone number (which they didn't ask for when I placed the order) and hadn't gotten it from PayPal. So I sent them a phone number. They processed the number on the 15th and sent me a dispatch notice. After that… silence. So eventually, on the 21st, I phoned them to find out where the ladder was. It turns out that sometime between the 12th and the 15th the ladder went ‘out of stock’. It didn’t come into stock again until the 21st (or thereabouts). So this tells us that when you place an order, you don’t reserve the stock item. Also, it tells us that when the stock status changes, nobody thinks it would be useful or important to let the customer know (just in case, for example, they might choose to source the ladder elsewhere). Anyway, the upshot was that they were now unable (unwilling) to deliver the ladder this year. There had been a few e-mails exchanged about the phone number and in those e-mails, I pointed out that I need the ladder to put up the Christmas lights. So they knew very well that a 2016 delivery date wasn’t going to work. If you’re lucky, then Tool-NET may well provide a competitively priced product in the expected time frame. But a good business doesn’t rely on luck. Moreover, I think that the measure of a business is how they react when things go wrong. Tool-NET, having failed to match expectations in most respects, didn’t think it was worth offering a courier service (even for a fee) to ensure that I got the ladder before Christmas. The most that they were willing to offer in the circumstances was a ‘sorry’. This is not a good business.

United States | 22 December 2015OK I know they say delivery is 3-5 working days but for £8+ I expect as fast as possible, not one day later than the maximum. This was for a medium sized, not very heavy jiffy bag that went through Royal Mail. 8 quid and late!!! It's my own fault for being stupid enough to pay that delivery charge without NBD, it won't be happening again.
