About First American Home Warranty

First American home warranty plans provide a safeguard for your budget when your home’s systems and appliances break down. When a covered item unexpectedly stops working, we’re here to help with getting it working again. As a leader in the home warranty industry since 1984, you can count on the protection, experience and stability of First American Home Warranty. Appliances and home systems will eventually fail. It’s unavoidable. A home warranty offers you a renewable service contract you can use to protect systems in your home such as heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical, as well as major appliances like your dishwasher, oven, clothes washer/dryer, refrigerator, and more. With our home warranty protection, when a covered item breaks, we’ll send a pre-screened service contractor to your home to diagnose the issue. Many of our customers request service multiple times each year and save hundreds to thousands of dollars on repair and replacement costs. These types of mechanical failures are typically not covered by your homeowners insurance, so a home warranty can help bridge that gap in protection by shielding your budget from these sudden expenses. Benefits of a First American home warranty: • A simple solution when something breaks • Protection from huge, unexpected repair or replacement bills • 24/7 service requests • Unlimited service calls We offer a variety of affordable warranty plans and options so you can customize your coverage to fit your home and budget. Clark had to come a second time because ac quit the next day. Unfortunately that was the weekend. You need people who work on weekends. Problems are not Monday thru Friday

This last service call was complex and involved getting a part that was covered by a manufacturer’s warranty but the warranty did not cover installation. FA’s rep, Wendy Molina, worked with me and helped keep me informed. Once the part was acquired the contractor, Tim Remer, immediately came by and installed the part. Once again FA came thru for me.

Overall the experience was good. My only complaint was the length of time it took for the entire process. It took over approximately two weeks to get a replacement refrigerator.

I paid this insurance for 1 full year and when I had an A/C issue the send a company that they said it was working properly. I just wanted my A/C fix and moved On! After that I it canceled! I rather find a local vendor to fix my stuff and not use this Insurance! They just take your money and don’t care about the customer. I asked around and there is a lot of unhappy ex customers with this insurance.

I tried to explain to the tech what was going on and he insisted that it's supposed to do that. I told him it's hasn't done it since I had it. It's still not functioning like it should.

I called when my incident happened and they said they would set me up with an HVAC company, give me the phone number and said they would call. I waited for about two weeks and I finally decided to call. I was told by the HVAC company that they had reassigned my claim. They no longer came to my area. So instead of waiting a few days, I had to wait almost a month. I called your company and you had no record of this claim being reassigned. I had to ask you to look again, and you finally found it. After that, it went smoothly, and the company came and fixed what they needed to fix.

First American Home warranty sent a Sears technician to repair our kitchen range... The first visit was in August. It is now 3 visits, one aborted visit later, in October, and the range is still not fixed... and the case has been closed. A part was supposed to be ordered, it never arrived. Then we were told the part was no longer available, but a replacement part was ordered. The technician came to put it in and could not move the range to do it... He said he needed a second person. When he brought a second person on another visit they still could not move it, and he said the part was no longer any good anyway and probably wouldn't work. Sears and the warranty company did not seem to know what each other was doing this whole time and this has been one of the most frustrating experiences in my life trying to get any kind of work done. First American Warranty and Sears Home Repair have been absolutely useless in this case, and horribly frustrating to deal with.

There is a need for more contractors since at times it is necessary to get there sooner than later.

Service was efficient and professional. The company assigned for my service was also professional and thorough in completing my repair.

I wish I could give zero stars. this is a complete and total scam. I am convinced they paid people for good reviews. we have had a "tech" come out and look at our AC for the last two years, the same issue continues, and they write up in their notes that there isn't a problem and then just close the case. their techs even will say "well we are told to write things up a certain way, and to say there isn't an issue" blatant fraud and somehow getting away with it. NOW they told us to HIRE our own AC person to come out and say there is an issue and THEN they will send one of their own to VERIFY that. and no we do not get reimbursed for having to hire our own AC tech.

Took a little too long to decide on what to do for our AC, while it was 100 plus degrees outside.

FAHW assigned Harris Water Heaters, Inc. who came to my house soon after I filed the claim. The technician from FAHW was very helpful. Harris Water Heaters, Inc. rep was fantastic. I would use Harris... every time if possible. Their technician explained exactly what he needed to do and the supplies needed. He had an excellent work ethic, worked efficiently and quickly..

This company is absolutely the worst! I have been on the phone with them countless hours to have my refrigerator repaired. The contracor AWS (Charlotte area) came to the house assessed what repair needed to be made but never ordered the parts. Now my refrigerator totally died and instead of helping their customer they continually give you the run around that they can't reach their contractor and can't help me until they do. Now I have a garbage full of food and still no resolution for repair or replacement. There are a ton of warranty companies out there you can use....DON'T PURCHASE YOUR HOME WARRANTY through FIRST AMERICAN. UPDATE: 16 hours ago FAHW replied to this review. I still have not heard back from my case manager Camilla who has had this case for over 50 hours now. 2nd UPDATE: While it’s true that I finally received resolution, I think it’s important to note that nothing happened until I emailed the COO and a handful of VPs. This was not an easy process and feel if I didn’t escalate this to the VP and C-level I would still be waiting. Again, do not purchase your warranty from this company.

I've had a contract for my 3 homes with FAHW since my first purchase in 2007... Things were great through the years, quick assignment to a certified and qualified professional who did the repairs within 2 weeks even if parts were needed for repairs... However as of late 2022-2024 this company has gone down hill.... They are no longer doing proper VETTING of the service providers who come out to your home... Most of them are now not certified, qualified, or professional at all, down right rude. They lie to you, try to SCAM you for additional repairs not required and have you waiting for weeks and months to actually complete the damn repairs. START DOING A BETTER JOB OF VETTING THE PEOPLE AND COMPANIES YOU ARE ASSIGNING YOUR SERVICE REUESTS TO OR YOU WILL SOON BE IN BANKRUPTCY COURT WHEN YOUR COMPANY GOES OUT OF BUSINESS
