Very simple process for getting cycle insurance. All online, a short form, but very comprehensive cover for a part-time leisure cyclist. Legal and accident cover available and easy to tailor to my needs. Lots more options for competitive cycling and foreign travel that I didn't need. The most import part for me was the price vs. cover - Cycleplan was about 50% cheaper than the nearest rivals. It is underwritten by Aviva, so should be decent. Couple of things to note: I had access to a 30% discount code from their own home page and then saw a 40% discount online when comparing this to other companies. The 40% discount would not apply because I had already tried the 30% in my web browser. Switched browsers and tried again - all good. The price would be even cheaper, but they apply a £20 admin fee?!?! Not sure how this is justified. Will return to update if I ever need to make a claim.

My bicycle was stolen while insured by Cycleplan but they refuse to honor their policy and to pay my claim. Making the claim was straightforward by phone. The claims are not handled by Cycleplan themselves but by Davies Group (check their Trustpilot rating and you will see how many claims get refused). Once the claim was registered, I did not hear back for more than a month, even though I was told that I would get a response within 5 days. After following up several times by email and being ignored, I called them and finally got somebody to pick up the claim, it seems that they did not even look at it until then. It took another 3 calls with endless repetition of the details of the theft until Davies Group informed me that they would refuse the claim. Their reasoning was that the bicycle was parked on the street TOO CLOSE to my home. They honestly told me that it would have been insured if I had parked it on the street at any train station, work, or random place but since it was parked too close to home, they won't pay. It makes no sense at all, but I can't do anything about it on the phone. I will take this to the Ombudsman of course who will hopefully force these fraudsters to honor their policy. Bottom line is to avoid Cycleplan at all cost. They will take your monthly payments, plenty of your time when it comes to handling a claim and you will never get anything from them. You are better off without an insurance. There are other similar reviews and Cycleplan will reject responsibility and refer to Davies Group. But it is Cycleplan's resposibility to work with a trustworthy claims handler.

Easy to use and cheap for what I wanted

Most policies from other providers include many things that I do not require, cycle plan enabled me to tailor the policy to my needs,saving me money. Very easy to set up online too

Easy to get a quote and easy to buy. Online portal is very easy to navigate and to find the sort of cover available. Once you have decided you can choose the excess you would like then pay in one payment or pay in installments.
