United Kingdom | 18 March 2020We are a Freehold management company. I first became aware of GEAB in a January 2020 when my existing 3 year energy contract with EDF taken out in September 2019 was somehow taken over by Total Gas and Power (TG&P) at a 100% increase in price. We contacted TG&P and were told that the contract was awarded to them by GEAB. We contacted GEAB and after many annoying defensive phone calls discovered that our management agent had entered into a contract with GEAB and that our account was included. Despite many requests neither GEAB or TG&P were prepared to let us see the contract. We finally did get a copy of an email that was deemed to be the ‘contract’. Having studied the GEAB Trust pilot reviews it became clear to me what their strategy is. The Hook Cut and pasted from GEAB Web Site – 'We’re confident we can demonstrate the savings available to your organisation with no commitment or charge'. The Bait They endlessly pester and harass your property management company offering to take over the time consuming management of their Energy Contracts. The Sting They catch them at a weak moment and get them to agree to unbelievable offers. Cut and pasted from an email copied to me by GEAB when I asked to see the contract. ‘As discussed today can you confirm we have the authority to enter all meters present and future that are under (managing agents name) in new agreements proving(sic) all electricity meters have a unit rate of below 19.99kwh and providing the daiiy standing charge does not exceed 80ppd. Also are you happy that all meters will be taking(sic) up until the end of the curve so the longest term possible. To accept this just reply with a yes’ Our management agent did! The Outcome To GEAB – No doubt a juicy commission To TG&P - A juicy new 3 year contract with no exit clause To Us – A 100% increase in our energy cost for the next 3 years The moral of this story Don’t be caught like we were, make your Managing Agents aware of GEAB tactics. What’s happening next? I intend to approach Rip Off Britain, Trading Standards and maybe Offgen and the Ombudsman. I may investigate the relationship between GEAB and TG&P. I might be wasting my time but I am in self isolation so have plenty of it. Regarding the GEAB response I am not sure I would call my previous EDF 3 year contract at £24 per month compared to my new 3 year contract with Total Gas and Power at £48 per month competitive! But they are right we were stupid to fall for it. The purpose of my review was to warn others so they might not be. Roll on Energy Broker regulation!

United Kingdom | 12 March 2020Contacted us over the phone...I usually ignore the calls but got a pleasant lady on the phone who said what they do....I agreed and a week later they have got me a great deal with my current supplier at a loss less than the renewal I was given by them direct.

United Kingdom | 30 January 2020Very dubious to start with as all companies get calls on a regular basis from energy companies promising low rates and great service. Green Energy are a different kind of company. No high pressure selling just honest advice.

United Kingdom | 27 January 2020Constantly telephoning, disregarding my wishes NOT to speak to them. They should check TPS marketing lists BEFORE calling, pushy, rude, irratating.

United Kingdom | 27 January 2020felt they were a little too pushy but did a good review only time will tell when we switch over

Ann Mogg
United Kingdom | 24 January 2020Early signs are good, but until our contract is ongoing and we see how easy it is to communicate with Green Energy, I will remain cautious. All companies are fantastic whilst trying to get your custom, but a very different attitude is unfortunately often the case thereafter. So we will see!
