Appointment booked for the morning however the engineer only turned up in the afternoon with no prior warning. Very efficient whilst on site

My experience was not a great one - lost keys, lack of communication etc - until Christine came along. She took ownership, liaised internally and sorted everything out just as she’d promised. So, an outstanding employee in an otherwise lacklustre organisation. The locks themselves are great.

I have had nothing but problems with Banham. They have wasted my time and my money, and caused me a lot of stress. I work for a small charity. We had a fire alarm installed back in February. The engineer refused to do any electrical works to complete the installation. He said that we would have to get our own electrician in to install some fuse spurs, before Banham would come back to complete the installation. I was not happy with this, but was given no choice. I duly paid for an electrician to come out and install the fuse spurs as directed by Banham. A different Banham engineer then came out. He said that we had installed the wrong type of fuse spur, and said that I would have to get them replaced with something else. I was appalled. I had wasted hard earned charity money paying for something that Banham had told me to get, but that they now said would now have to be replaced with something else. I was also extremely concerned that they had only completed a partial installation, and I was going to be stuck with a fire alarm that was not fully functional, Again I was left with little choice. I paid for a second visit from our electrician, to put in another set of fuse spurs. When the engineer was testing the system, I saw that the fire door releases weren’t working. I followed this up and Banham said that our fire doors hadn’t been included in the spec, and that we would have to pay for an engineer to come out and link them into the panel. Again, I was appalled! Not only had the person who came out to design the system overlooked the doors, and my charity were now having to pay, but also our office and staff were being put at risk, from having fire doors that were not going to work in the event of a fire. Eventually, after much chasing, and additional money on our part, our fire doors were linked into the fire alarm, and our system was finally commissioned in June, months after installation. I was assured at that time that the system was fully functional, and that all was in order. Banham’s maintenance and monitoring contracts are expensive, but we had made the decision to pay for that service, because we take staff safety seriously. Today we had a false alarm. I called Banham and spoke to the alarm receiving centre, who told me that there was no signal between our fire alarm and Banham. They suggested that I pay for an engineer to come out and fix that. I asked for help in re-setting our alarm, but the individual I spoke to said that he didn’t know how, and that I would have to wait for the engineer to come out to reset it for me. I cannot say how angry I am. Today we had a false alarm, but if we had have had a real fire, Banham would not have known, and there would have been no call to the fire brigade. Not only is this a massive safety concern, we have paid a lot of money over the last few months for a monitoring service when there isn’t even a signal going out from our system! Banham have now booked me an engineer, but he or she can’t come until late tomorrow afternoon. I told them it was an emergency, but they said that was the soonest they could get someone out, despite them advertising a maximum of 8 hours for an engineer. I looked at the fire panel myself, and managed to work out how to reset it. I find it hard to believe that the engineer I spoke to couldn’t tell me, and wanted me to pay for a visit. All I had to do was to press a ‘reset’ button! I’m guessing that they’re told not to give even the most basic advice, so that they can charge people for call outs instead. Banham have wasted my time, cost my charity money, and compromised staff safety. After all of the problems I have had, I am assuming that the engineer won’t turn up tomorrow, or that they will say that we have to pay for something else again. I am incredibly angry and frustrated.
