United States | 03 June 2017I was happy with Kemwel's service. I have used then for several years in Europe and Hawaii. However, this experience was frustrating. The vehicle was a Nissan, provided by Budget and had two major faults. One was a security problem. The trunk could not be locked although it could be closed normally. You could not risk putting valuables in the trunk as it could easily be opened. The alarm did not work for the trunk. They knew about this problem as somone had tried to tape the trunk closed on a previous rental period. The second problem was that the rear passenger side tire had a slow leak. I has to check it daily and pump it up. I always bring my tire pressure monitor with me. I experienced a warning light on the dash when the tire lost air. Hence the problem. I do not accept that this type of service is up to standard. The vehicle was not serviced properly but ran well. Unacceptable.

United States | 02 June 2017Dealing with Kemwel for several years and planning and reserving a vehicle has always been relatively easy. The problem comes with Europcar who is their provider in France. Even with everything in order and booked far in advance of the trip, dealing at the local level is seems to mostly be an exercise in patience, spending much too much time waiting and the whole process needs anywhere from 1-2 hours. I don't understand that. Also for a 9 day rental that was for a compact, auto trans, with pick up and drop off in two different locations came to almost $70 per day. That seems high even for European standards and our credit card that has no transaction fees attached somehow didn't work on their machine and we had to use a different card which added another $15 to the bill. Funny, we used that card everywhere else without issue. Maybe this is all normal, but perhaps Kemwel can find a better provider? Is this peculiar to France? We've rented here before on two different occasions for 3-4 weeks and it seemed better then....

United States | 02 June 2017Actually, I'm happy with Kemwel, and have used them multiple times in the past for renting cars in Europe. I was very unhappy with the treatment at the Europcar counter at the Gare du Nord. We had a one day rental from them a few days previous for which we had not gone through Kemwel, and for ten euros a day we were offered an upgrade to an automatic BMW midsize car which was lovely. When we inquired about an upgrade at the Gare du Nord, The young man took 15 minutes to come up with the possibility, at which point he said it would be €60 a day more than we had paid. Since we had only paid €200 for a 10 day rental, this was a ridiculous option. We had reserved a four-door car. after half an hour of standing around waiting for him to figure out what he was going to do, he finally assigned us to a Fiat 500. We have a lot of baggage and my husband is partially disabled and it was a big pain in the neck to go all the way down to -6 floor only to find out that it was a two door car. Back up, back into the office at which point he said he had no other cars for us and we said that was completely unacceptable. We asked to speak with the manager and he said there was no manager. Finally a colleague 'found' a car, a Nissan MICRA, which at least had four doors. When we got to it, it was clear that it had not been cleaned from the previous renter, trash in the car, cherry pits in the door handle, etc. Clearly a much less than ideal experience!

United States | 02 June 2017I had used Kemwel before without any problems . Typically you never get the car you initially reseve when you are at the rental counter in Europe ...but this is ok . This last time in May, I had a terrible experience at the Hertz counter in FRA when I went to pick up my Kemwel arranged Dollar rentl car .I was "forced" to take the full insurance which they claim is what the Dollar T&C requires . The cost added 52 euros /day ,tripling my initial daily rental ! The Hertz agent said I should have rented through Hertz, no help at all ! I wrote an email that same day to Kemwel complaining about this incident and it was handled perfectly by Graham ,who got back to me within 24 hours with an email which basically took care of the problem and at no additional cost to me over the initial price. I was very satisfied with the way Kemwel resolved this problem and would recommend Kemwel to anyone considering to rent a car in Europe.

United States | 02 June 2017Not only is the price unbeatable, but the personal service is by far the best I've ever gotten from a rental agency. We had a broken windshield in the middle of the countryside in Italy and within 30 minutes of calling Kemwel they had conferenced in the nearest Hertz and we were able to set up a no cost swap when it was convenient(opt for the full coverage!). Absolutely became a lifetime customer, thanks for the amazing service.

United States | 02 June 2017This is probably our 6th time renting cars through Kemwel & without exception, our cars have been excellent...no problems & always in perfect running condition. Normally we prefer the small Mercedes when we are driving in the left lane but the new Toyota small SUV hybrid worked wonderfully on the roads in Ireland. We also commend Kemwel in their customer service. I normally have a few questions before we leave the US & they are always answered efficiently & correctly. It's the reason we keep renting from Kemwel.
