United States | 24 April 2017Italy:Kemwel subcontracted out my rental to a subcontractor who would not honor a prepaid rental reservation with Kemwel. It took 2 minutes for the subcontractor to determine he would breach his contract with Kemwel (and me), and, after almost 2 weeks, Kemwel has yet to figure this one out. They need to fix their chosen subcontrator. Result: As of this writing, paid for 2 rentals for the same days in Italy, only drove 1.

On both occasions I was very pleased in their economical rental options, their thorough and well organized email communications, and the ease with which I have been able to speak with someone who has a thorough command of the English language if I had any time critical question which needed answering. I communicate best via email, since I still have no cell phone, not even a dumb phone; Kemwel has been great!!

Slovakia | 23 April 2017Very pushing for additional insurance charge. Customer may feel like a fool when not accepting additional insurance. Also I needed to sign some paper that I refuse additional insurgence. To be honest I felt like some guilty, that is not taking extra coverage. At the end very unprofessional car return. I was told that my presence was no needed, but I get email saying that I refused final car check. At the end I received claim about tiny small scratch an the weel. When I reply for email, there was no process for it. Simple the amount of 120 EUR was taken from account. I really feel bad for this kind of business when car rental tries to make extra money on insurance and once on claims. Very bad. There are bests for this ...

United States | 22 April 2017Rented a car for my trip to Chile. They sent me to Budget at the airport in Santiago. I was the only customer but it took an hour to get the paperwork done because of some "confusion". They insisted that I would have to pay a drop charge when I returned the car in Calama. I pointed out that nowhere in the paperwork did it say that was the case and that in fact it indicated no additional charges. I signed their paperwork under protest as it was the only way I could get the vehicle. I contacted Kemwel during the trip. they got back to me with the info that their website misquoted me and that there was indeed a drop charge and additional taxes due which they would refund to me. When I arrived at the airport in Calama there were no signs, not even one that indicated where rental cars were to be returned. Not just Budget but any rental cars, It took 45 minutes to figure out that we were to go into the public airport parking and leave the car "anywhere". An agent from Budget then went out to the car in the middle of the lot to check it in. I emailed all documents to the reservation manager at Kemwel that I had been communicating with that showed the extra charges including information copied my credit card statement. After 2 more emails and no response I called the number on the email but that individual was not to be found. Another service rep took over and I had to start from the beginning. A large portion of the charge was credited to my account but I am still waiting for over $100 because Kemwel is disputing Budget's charges. It seems to me that that is between Kemwel and Budget and that I should have been refunded in full. I have always used Kemwel for my international trips and this is the first time with a negative experience.

Kemwel was great to work with and very flexible with our constantly changing schedule. Car was almost brand new and the folks quite friendly! Would highly recommend them.

Croatia | 21 April 2017Our 2 week rental from Zgreb and into the Balkans went smoothly. It is at least the 3rd or 4th time we have used Kemwel to book cars. Our diesel Opel 6 speed was just a dandy car and we were very happy with it. The rental was through Fleet rent a car. The return to the Split airport seemed clear enough, but was not to be. There seemed to be NO signs for returning a rental here and nothing in the Fleet handbook other than the address of the airport. After going into a blocked area, somebody spoke enough English to say that to return a car here, you just parked it in the paid parking area for all cars, and then went looking for the office. About as clear as mud.

United States | 21 April 2017Kemwel has served me perfectly by connecting my rental with Hertz in Berlin Germany. The Hertz company had an excellent car (Volvo, Diesel, GPS ) prepared for me. The price was reasonable and the service at Berlin airport excellent. This was a pleasant surprise since in the past Kemwel was two times not able to either have the right car reserved -I need automatic- or have the car reserved at the proper airport in cities where there are more than one airport. The booking and assistance in choosing a car which met my requirements was handled very professionally by the phone in the US. ernst winkler

The Kemwel-arranged Hertz rental picking up in France went flawlessly. 24/7 access to Kemwel in making the initial rental arrangements in the US before going to Europe made everything easy. No charge for one-way drop. Best way to rent a car in Europe in our opinion.

We have never had an issue with the companies Kemwel represents or the cars we have rented. We did have a couple of issues with the GPS we received ahead of time to bring with us, but each time, the folks at Kemwel went over and above to work out the problem and make sure everything was OK. I highly recommend using Kemwel

United States | 20 April 2017We are long time customers of Kemwel and recently we rented a car in Milan Italy through them from Sicily by Car. In the past insurance was allways included in the rental and apparently that is not the case anymore. We signed up for the additional insurance after the agent explained to us it was just basic insurance. We were on the autostrada and were alerted the right front tire had a large bubble on the side. It was the same side that had scratches and damage from a previous renter. We immediately stopped into Bologna airport and requested a replacement. They advised us the tires weren't covered in the insurance and we would have to pay for replacement. We had no alternative but to take the replacement car as we had a flight out of Milan the following day. We have no idea at this point if we are going to be hit with a ridiculous bill to replace a tire as the agent said we would be contacted with the costs. Sicily by Car has dirty old cars that stink of smoke. We will not be using them again. They didn't carefully explain the insurance to us. The most common issue is with tires so it seems ridiculous that it wasn't covered. I have recommended many clients to Kemwel because it was fully inclusive without hassles which is not the case anymore.
