I purchased an expensive Brompton folding bicycle on the cycle to work scheme which was provided by Cycle Solutions. I placed my order and received the necessary confirmation that the cycle to work scheme had been activated and my order had been confirmed. Then a few days later a member of staff from Cycle Solutions emailed to say my product was no longer in stock and that I’d have to wait 8-10 weeks for another. I’m still unclear as to how it was allowed to happen. I wish I’d have known that I could change the order but Cycle Solutions don’t tell you much. I phoned up some weeks later asking for an update and was told “oh yeah, it’s going to be another 6 weeks on top due to the factory. Someone probably should have told you” A friend then informed me that I could change the order if the value was the same, so I called up Cycle Solutions who did this for me over the phone. It always felt as though I was massively intruding whenever I spoke to them. I then asked some questions about the spec of the alternative bike (they didn’t have many left in stock) and the person couldn’t tell me anything. The new model came with a dynamo and lights fitted, I know Brompton have offered different kinds over the years and Cycle Solutions couldn’t tell me anything. Their website doesn’t even show the correct models of the bikes with the description. Just a disclaimer explaining that the picture may differ. Cycle Solutions said “yeah Brompton don’t tell us much”(!!) As for the accessories, these all needed to be ordered in, despite showing as ‘in stock’ on their site. Honestly shambolic. So I ended up paying close to 2 grand and waiting until I opened the box to find out what kind of dynamo and light set up the bike had. I originally ordered the much more desirable Flame Lacquer and having to settle for a stock blue because Cycle Solutions had sold my model to someone else. I made up the price difference with some accessories. The bike arrived yesterday with the gears not being set up correctly. I contacted both Cycle Solutions and Brompton at the same time. One of these companies called me back within 2 hours, one of them still hasn’t contacted me at all! No prizes for guessing that one! If it wasn’t a cycle to work scheme I’d have binned them off immediately but I was kind of stuck. I’ll definitely be speaking with my employer about the experience because an expectedly pleasurable experience was made incredibly frustrating by Cycle Solutions. Their stock is poor, their website is poor, their service is slow, the customer service is borderline non-existent and no effort whatsoever was made to improve the situation. They just didn’t give a hoot. Avoid. Like. The. Plague.

I ordered a bike on the cycle to work scheme. Unfortunately, the bike was damaged in transit (Which was in no way cycle solutions fault). The customer support provided a voucher to cover the purchase of new parts or any other item I wished on their website as compensation. After this I noticed further damage and requested a new bike. They agreed, the bike was returned and THE SAME bike was sent back repaired. They then tried to lie and say it was a new bike and they were 'sorry I felt like it was the same bike' (I kept pictures of the unique serial numbers, it was the same bike). No apology was given, I was given a full refund and they cancelled the voucher. Months of my time wasted and a lot of stress- Avoid
