Had a really good experience with MFL throughout the process of buying our first home. I was a little apprehensive as their fees were slightly higher than solicitors we had looked at before, however it was worth the cost. Finlay was really helpful with submitting offers. Once our offer was accepted, Barry dealt with our case and I would say this is where you can see value for money. He was always available, and replied to queries quickly, following up emails with calls to ensure we understood the process. When it came to finalising the contract between ourselves and the buyer, we were at a stalemate over a warranty. Barry was able to ensure we got what we wanted included and in time for move in date we had hoped.

When we very first got in contact with McEwan Fraser in January, we were met with the most unprofessional and rudest estate agent I have ever come across. We ended up giving them the benefit of the doubt and went with McEwan Fraser as we were promised that this time things would be different. When we met with the new Property Valuer, he was great. Talked the talk and said all of the right things. We decided to go with McEwan Fraser because we were told their client base was so huge that they did not forsee any issues in selling our property. 3 months pass and not a single person had viewed our property. We were then told to knock off £20,000 off of our home report value as that would attract buyers. When I reached out to tell them we were not happy with the service, a further month had passed and we recieved nothing. I then notified them that we would be taking the property off the market and suddenly, a viewer appeared. We still decided that we were not going to proceed with selling our house for a number of reasons and asked for the account to be settled. We were then met with additional fees of VAT which were not explained to us. When someone tells you plus VAT, that tends to mean that it is included. Or, maybe I have been very naieve to that fact. Be very careful of going with this estate agent - They will promise you the world and under deliever and then hit you with a fee of £1000 just to have had your property advertised.
